Mate

When I was ready I was about to blink back to Vampore but a knock on my door stopped me.

"Caitlin?" It was Tony maybe I can blink he won't know I was here right "I know you're there I can read your mind" he informed, busted I thought he chuckled I sighed maybe I should hear him out I called for him to come in he opened the door with a smile that said he was thankful I nodded towards the bed Tony sat down and I followed suit I waited patiently for him to begin for what felt like hours but probably was only a few minutes he played with his fingers I looked at him

"What did you want Tony?" I know it sounded rude but I didn't have all night

"You look nice, you going out?"

"no I'm dressed up for diner" I said sarcastically he smiled looking down at his lap again

"I'm sorry" he whispered so quietly that if it hadn't been for my powerful hearing I would've missed it I stayed quiet wanting him to elaborate "I shouldn't have treated you like that its just that ... Sometimes it feels like you don't care for the kingdom, you know what I mean?" He asked the last part I stood up crossing my arms across my chest

"No can't say I do actually" I told him teeth gritted he sighed and he to stood up

"Look I didn't come here to argue, I came to apologise so I'm sorry I'll leave you to it" with that he walked out of my room leaving a very confused queen in his wake if that was an apology then paint me 'apology not excepted' I huffed I didn't have time for this I blinked to Vampore straight outside the doors that led to the great hall.

I took a breath and was about to open the door when I sensed danger I turned to see Nicola my eyebrows furrowed she didn't look dangerous I crossed my arms across my chest.

"I can't believe you actually turned up" she scoffed I shook my head

"Of course I did he's my m...friend he's my friend and besides I was invited"

"Ahh yes you were invited because you, like the other servants, helped decorate" she smiled I to laughed, did she just compare me to a servant I think she did I could feel myself getting angry.

"Don't forget you are talking to a queen I could have you beheaded" I told her okay so I couldn't really do that but I'm not letting her know that I saw dread in her eyes but she covered it up

"Yes well I'm about to be princess so you can leave, you're not invited" she sounded like a five year old trying to tell a bully to get lost I smiled

"Yes well" I started trying to sound like her but gave up, I didn't want a sore throat "you're not queen yet king Harold and prince Vlad decide who stays and who doesn't" I told her the smile wiped off her face she looked down then back at me as if she had discovered something her hand went behind her back,

"I've tried to be nice to you but people like you can't take the hint, he's mine got it? mine so leave" okay what would you do, you'd read her mind right, I did and guess what I read she has a dagger behind her back I drew my sword which was bigger she gasped, she went red then dropped the dagger she turned and ran I put my sword away and walked into the great hall. I was immediately in front of Vlad

"You're here" he stated hands on my shoulders

"Yeah sorry, I got held up" I told him looking at the clock it read 11:30 wow I took a long time

"It's ok" he said waving his hand "come on the ceremony is going to start very soon" he took hold of my hand and dragged me towards a stage much to my protest he wouldn't let go the stage held a mic and a chair the floor of the stage was red and the backdrop was white Vlad let go of my hand once we were at the stage he ascended the stairs and sat on the single chair he looked around looking very antsy it was very funny I stood there for a few minutes wondering what I was suppose to do but nothing happened so I shrugged, turned and walked to the drinks table.

"He's excited" someone said next to me, I turned to see Nicola i cant believe shes still trying to talk to me and she says i cant take a hint, ha try looking in a mirror barbie I was angry but I kept myself calm

"Yeah" I answered she looked at me

"Do you always carry your sword with you?"

"Yeah"

"Why?" She asked I shrugged

"You never know when someone will try to hurt you" i looked at her questioningly she nodded in thought

"Do you even know how to use it?" she asked with venom at last even the nicest conversation takes a u-turn with this woman, no girl

"I've killed two people with it" I answered she gasped trying to figure out if it was a lie I smiled to myself knowing she had no choice but to believe me she walked off, good riddance, I hoped and drank some juice that looked like orange juice but didn't taste like it, it was nice though.

Soon Harold walked on to the stage and to the mic

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN MAY I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE" he bellowed everyone went quiet you could here a pin drop "thank-you, now as you know we are here to celebrate my sons eighteenth birthday, today is also the day he finds his mate, which I'm hoping is a girl" everyone laughed as Vlad looked embarrassed I laughed to from the corner of my eye I saw something move I turned my head my hand going to my sword but it was Nicola moving to the front of the stage I shook my head that girl would do anything to be princess. "The clock is about to strike twelve, get ready girls" king Harold said everyone chuckled I looked at the clock waiting eagerly for it to strike. Vlad got up off his chair he was shaking excitedly I smiled he couldn't wait to meet his mate, even if he secretly wanted it to be Nicole he wouldn't care when he found out it was me. Suddenly Vlad went still he stopped shaking all at once I was confused what was going on? Vlad's eyes went red he hissed and his teeth lengthened he started looking around at all the people infront of him people moved back. He jumped off the stage and people gasped around me I looked around and saw Nicole walk to him

"Vlad" she whispered with a hand on his shoulder, he looked at the hand on his shoulder then followed it's path up to her face she smiled at him he hissed showing his teeth like a vampire he got hold of her by the neck and sniffed her she was beeming wait what?, was he going to bite her?, what about me?, what about my premonition?, he moved away from her neck to look at her "hey it's ok you can bite me, I'm ready" she told him in a whisper tilting her head to give better access but he got hold of her hand that was on his shoulder and threw it off him, Nicola gasped as he got hold of her shoulders, lifted her into the air, and threw her towards the door everyone gasped as did I although I was glad he got rid of her, Nicole stood, stamped her feet, screamed then walked out I smiled. He started looking around again like a predator wow he was hot wait what? He walked towards me looking edible what, where did that come from? he sniffed the air around him his eyes landed on me and he growled wow that was so hot I gasped as he came towards me he sniffed me like a dog then growled again he got hold of my neck and I tilted my head to the side to give him better access he scratched my neck with his teeth I moaned I was getting turned on he moaned too he let go of my neck I opened my eyes wondering what happened his eyes were back to normal and he was smiling did he bite me king Harold said he was suppose to bite me, my hand went to my neck I could feel two holes but they heeled king Harold had been right that didn't even hurt I looked up to see Vlad smiling.

"Hi" he smiled "you're my mate" well duh Sherlock I smiled at him.

"Ladies and gentleman my sons mate queen Caitlin of Enidan" king Harold announced everyone cheered Vlad guided me towards the stage this time we ascended the steps together he took the mic from his father and gave it to me I took it and turned to the crowed

"Uh hi? Uh I'm Caitlin, queen Caitlin and uh I'm happy to be prince Vlad's mate uh I promise to be a good princess and do what is right for the kingdom uh that's all thank you. I gave the mic back to Vlad who passed it to his father

"Ladies and gentleman the prince and princess of Vampore" everyone cheered and clapped as we got off the stage towards the doors leading out of the great hall

"Where are we going?" I asked but Vlad didn't answer we walked out and through some halls passing many doors we finally came to some stairs leading to the first floor we started climbing we got to the first floor and passed a few doors on the walls were huge portraits of passed kings and queens we passed three more doors then came to a halt infront of a room Vlad opened the door and we walked in there was a four poster bed and big wardrobes I assumed this was his room he walked me to the desk and forced me to sit in the chair he looked upset

"how long?" he asked

"how long what?" I asked back confused he banged his hand on the desk next to me and I jumped and gasped

"how long have you known?" he asked in a manacing voice I nodded

"a few months, before we met"

"why didn't you tell me?" he asked I shrugged

"I wanted you to choose me because you wanted me not because of a premonition" I told him he walked towards the window looking like he was thinking but didn't say anything so I carried on "I had the premonition before we met I didn't recognise the man in the premonition but I knew, or thought I knew, it was a vampire but was told that vampires didn't exist I'm sorry I didn't tell you Vlad I really wanted to, you don't know how many times I nearly did but held it in" I told him standing up and walking towards him, he turned to face me

"actually, I do" he told me I was confused 'what belongs to your mate belongs to you and what belongs to you belongs to your mate' that's what my prophecy said now I know what it meant" Vlad moved back then put his hand out palm facing up he bent his fingers and a fire ball appeared I gasped he closed his hand and the fire was gone "that didn't even hurt" he announced I smiled he walked over to me and gave me a peck on the lips

"what now?" I asked

"What do you mean?"

"Well I'm queen of Enidan I have to live there, and you're prince of Vampore you must stay here" I sat down on the bed looking at my hands "I've been thinking about this for so long, but I haven't come up with anything, we're worlds apart" I scoffed "literarily" I added as an afterthought "maybe you should be with Nicola, forget about me it would be so much easier if she was your mate, I mean you wanted it to be her anyway" I was nearly in tears saying that out loud but it had to be said Tony was right we couldn't be together

"What on Vampore are you talking about woman?" Vlad boomed it was scary I jumped Vlad smiled looking at me apologetically "sorry" he began again but in a quieter voice "but I mean I like Nicola as a friend as a sister even, I mean its like you and Tony, would you ever want to be with him"

"Ewwww" I grimaced

"Exactly" he smiled "I was secretly in love with you, but I couldn't tell you, I was worried that if you weren't my mate you would end up getting hurt but I did love you, I mean I still do" he came to me and put his hands on my face he wiped a tear that had slid down I hadn't realised I'd been crying we sat and talked for ages about anything and everything we played twenty questions only we asked each other hundreds of questions but we didn't get bored.

A knock on the door woke me up I was leaning on the headboard of Vlad's bed and he was sleeping on my extended legs he moaned as the knocker knocked again

"Enter" I called out, the door opened to reveal a maid wearing a blue knee length dress

"Will the prince and princess be wanting breakfast your majesty she asked looking at the floor

"Breakfast?" I asked "what time is it?"

"It's ten hundred hours your majesty"

"WHAT" I practically screamed Vlad screamed to rolling off the bed and falling on the floor with a thump I looked down at him apologetically "sorry" I smiled he was red with embarrassment

"Why did you scream?" He asked

"It's ten o clock Vlad I should've been home hours ago" he nodded his head looking up at the maid

"Good morning Eve is dad up?"

"Yes prince he's the one that sent me here"

"Ok we'll eat later I'd like to talk to my father" the maid nodded and walked off shutting the door behind her Vlad got up and kissed me "good morning sweet cheeks" he whispered I hissed

"Don't call me that, if you want to live" I smiled Vlad nodded we got ready and went to see his father, Vlad wanted to blink us there it took six tries but we got there "king Harold, good morning" I greeted.

"Ahh my daughter don't call me that, call me father" he came to me and gave me a hug I smiled father that would be nice I've been dying to call him that

"I don't suppose I could join the hug can I?" Vlad asked

"Of course you can my boy" kin..... I mean father said, Vlad joined in the hug.

We spoke some more and decided that for now things would stay the same as father would run Vampore but Vlad and I together would rule Enidan we decided that the best way to break it to the Enidanians would be to just first tell them about Vlad being my mate, not king then in a few months when people realise that we are together for the long haul we would announce that Vlad is king and maybe we'd get married too.
