CHAPTER 2 The Prince and Princess

Tango and Tanya were twins born to the king and Queen of Kwata. The King and Queen loved them dearly. How could they not? They waited ten years to have their precious children. Queen Eula almost gave up hope, thinking that the royal line would die with them. King Sol was however always optimistic. He loved his wife the queen dearly, sincerely hoped and prayed that they would have children, whom they would love and take care of with everything they had. Twenty years later, they had the most beautiful Prince and Princess. They were overjoyed. Queen Eula would occasionally shed tears of joy whenever she saw them walking in the garden.

Tango had deep blue eyes, like that of the sea, his mother's of course. They sparkled, leaving anyone and everyone who gazed into them bewitched. His hair was like that of the sun, golden yellow and glowing. His lips red like blood spilled from a baby deer during hunting. He was tall, and broad chested, leaving all the girls who saw him swooning. He was every maiden's desire. But of course, he was royalty and a beautiful one at that.

Tanya was also a beauty to behold. She had inherited her father's green eyes, like the beautiful green of the lemons. Oh! They were beautiful indeed. She had long brown shiny hair, skin as white as pure cow's milk and lips as red as blood. She was tall, though not as tall as her younger brother, the prince. She often called him this given that she came into the world few seconds before him. He often laughed it off, saying, "Whatever, Big Sis". She would often laugh too.

Tango adored the outdoors. He loved the rush of the wind through his face whenever he went horseback riding. He loved to hunt. He particularly loved the thrill and excitement he got whenever he aimed at an animal and didn't miss. This was more often than you would imagine. He loved the smell of roses. He particularly liked to visit a rose flower garden outside the palace, of course without his parents' permission. They obviously wouldn't let him go if they knew. He loved to paint in peace and quiet. Our dear Prince loved tranquility. It helped him feel at ease.

Princess Tanya was a real princess, more courageous than you'd expect though. She loves embroidery. It gave her so much joy whenever she thought of a design in her head and was able to recreate it on a piece of cloth. She loved to stroll. She would occasionally walk round the grounds of the palace, just enjoying the view. She also loved to watch the palace maids prepare meals. She would have gladly joined them if she was given permission to do so. She loved to sing too. She had the most amazing soprano voice, as sweet as birds singing happily in the morning.

Such was the daily life of the young Prince and Princess. They were twins, but sure weren't identical in any way.
