That Day

Meko Ichimatsu :

The day when I first met that guy, I was totally shocked. After all, it's not everyday that you meet an assassin while on your way back home. Plus I can not deny the fact that I really like assassins. Being someone who thinks evil the whole time for her own classmates but can't bend her body to her own will and ends up being naïvely kind, I like those who can be themselves. I have both skills and bloodlust. But to be able to kill someone, I am still lacking something for sure.

Sorry I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Meko Ichimatsu, a high schooler, age 15. I'm the youngest person and the tallest girl in my class. My interests involve painting, acting and writing. I won't say that I'm a normal girl. There are things about myself which even I don't understand and I can't explain or tell whoose reasons I can't even sort out so.....( sigh....) never mind. Since I was little, for some unknown reason, I have been treated really strangely by my classmates. That has been the way up till now. And, probably that's the way it's gonna be.... at least that's what I believed. All those who tried to be friends with me, got treated as outcasts by the rest. I used to feel lonely at first, but then slowly and gradually got used to it. I accepted it as a part of my destiny. Instead of trying to make friends, I tried prevent anyone from coming near me... cause I knew that sooner or later, I'll get a broken heart. But that particular day changed it all.

I was on my way back home, walking down a not so busy street surrounded with small houses and walls when suddenly a boy of around my age or a bit older bumped into me on a cross road. For me it was a disturbing and embarrassing situation. I could hear the voices of an angry mob coming from a distance. Suddenly the boy showed me a knife and tried to threaten me, " give me all your money at once " he said. 'What a lame poor guy!' I thought to myself as I couldn't help but laugh at his failure in trying to threaten me with a butter knife. Right then a bunch of cops came and surrounded us along with an exited, angry mob and saw us in a position which clearly stated that a girl was being threatened by a young man. " You'll have to come with us " one of the cops said clutching the guys hand. I cold not help but pity at that guy, " Now, now, officer.... what's wrong? " I asked getting up on my feet with a fake smile on my face. It was clearly visible how surprised and taken aback everyone, including the butter knife guy was, 'haha..... how cute!' I thought to myself. " He is a criminal of coarse! So we should catch him." One of the cops replied. " And what makes you think that he is a criminal, officers? " I replied back, and once more all of them were dumbfounded. I had no intention of letting an assassin get arrested in front of me. Of course, he had a long way to go, but nevertheless, an assassin is an assassin. Though he had failed, I could see the sharp gaze in his eyes which each and every assassin bears. " Dear officers. With all due respect, I must say that you are somewhat mistaken in your judgement. Take a close look at this boy. He is holding a butter knife. Thou art thinks that anyone can be killed with a butter knife?". When I pointed that out, everyone seemed so uncomfortable, it was funny to look.

As soon as the crowd dispersed, the guy came towards me scratching his head. He was about to open his mouth when I interrupted saying " you should be a bit careful from the next time " my tone must have been a bit cold cause he wore this strange sort of expression on his face. After spending almost 15 years by myself, being treated in a manner as if to say that I don't even exist, I have come to be a bit shy around people and really uncomfortable around guys. So I simply hurried away.

As I reached home, uncle and auntie greeted me with a friendly smile which they always did in order to lift up my spirits from my tireding day. Something I don't need at all nowadays cause I have lived this way for a long time now. But at least something really unusual happened today. Nowadays I never tell anyone about what is really happening in my life, cause I really am totally fed up of complaining. I have my hobbies, my studies, and a place to live. Asking anymore would be really really selfish. This is what I tell myself in order to keep it all together. After all what choice do I have? The only thing with which I share every thing is my diary. Other than that I had Faith with whom I could always speak to. He loved me so much, I really like him. I don't even know that he understands me or not, but it truly feels great to speak to him while patting him. In case you must be wondering, Faith is a Wolf. Since my home is just near a mountain with all sorts of animals residing there, often I end up attending to injured animals. Faith was one of them he is both wild and domestic. He is kept in my care just like any domestic dog but roams around the wild and hunts as he pleases. I am quite lucky to have a home right beside a reserved forest. Neither uncle, nor auntie know about him. Oh! I forgot to tell, uncle and auntie are the caretaker couple of me and my house. Uncle is the guard while auntie takes care of cooking and other maid's works. But with dad dead and mom working overseas, they feel like a real family to me.

The next day, I heard that a new transfer student was gonna join us. As I stared out of the window, least bothered about anything unimportant, my homeroom teacher introduced the newbie. It was a bliss to be having a sit right next to the windows but I hated the fact that I would have to sit on the last bench. Anyways,... " Huh !?" I heard a male voice speak and the sound seemed to come from somewhere close to where I was sitting. For the first time since this morning, I turned my attention towards the class and found a boy standing few inches away from my place staring at me with a mixed expression of shock and disbelief on his face. " You're that girl !!" He spoke in an amazed tone. That's when I understood that this newbie knew me from somewhere. I'm a really forgetful person, so I couldn't even remember if I had really ever met him. " Hey!! Doing good?" Nevertheless, I asked with a smile, totally hiding the fact that I didn't recognise him. " Uhm... yeah, good." He replied slightly confused and the whole class started murmuring among themselves at the turn of events. Never eould have I thought that the fateful encounter from thst day will change my life forever
