The party was still ongoing.
Guest women wore their own two-piece swimsuits, while the men wore their jersey shorts. Some of them were in the pool, while others were in a lounging chair by the pool with a glass of wine. Some were dancing with each other to the music.
The music was very loud, with strong beats and loud bass sounds. They were playing popular songs and old favorites that everyone knew. The music was the main noise at the party and it kept everyone energetic and excited.
Meanwhile, Lian Qiang found a spot on the sidelines of the pool, away from the main gathering of people. She's been watching Zhang Jin from afar. She wants to be sure he's okay whenever he's with his friends. One of the reasons she was so attentive was due to her concerns about potential poisoning or other dangers. She was extremely vigilant, always on high alert to ensure his safety. She doesn't have trust with his friends. There were twenty of them including Zhang Jin.
She can actually multitask.
She was observing him from a distance while reading a newspaper. She was unfazed by the surroundings - the blaring music and the loud laughter coming from the guests of the 'prince' didn't bother her at all.
From her spot, she had a clear view of Zhang Jin enjoying himself. She thought that this guy didn't know how to smile. She smirked, "You look more handsome with it than frowning." She whispered to herself pertaining to Zhang Jin.
"Who's handsome, huh?" She almost lost her soul when Liu Xian suddenly came out behind her back. "Do you like any of them, tell me!" He exclaimed and seated beside her.
She got up from lying down on the pool lounge chair and turned to face him. Her voice was steady, but her eyes revealed her startlement. "What are you doing here?" she asked.
He smiled. "Tell me, do you like any of them?" He asked teasingly, ignoring what she asked.
She laughed sarcastically "That's none of your business." she stated, shifting her gaze back to the newspaper she was reading.
"Chief wanted me to check on you. What's the news about the case?"
It took seconds before she started talking about her case.
"He no longer receives threats. It's good to hear, but that seems suspicious, right. I think the culprits are now moving. If not, then why has he not received a single threat after one week?" She stated, doubtful.
He nodded. Their conversation started to get serious.
"I see but you only need to keep him away from them. I know you, you're quite impulsive." He commented.
"I understand. I don't want to involve others in this trouble. I only need to protect him and keep him away from that notorious group," she said seriously. "If I had the chance to confront the culprits, I'd bring them to justice, but for now, my priority is to ensure Zhang Jin's safety. I realize it's a complex and daunting task, but I need to strategize accordingly," she added.
"Whoa, whoa, chill. You're really something else," he said, acting scared, breaking their serious conversation.
"Anyway, is there anything else you need to ask? I must go now, the prince has already left."
"Prince?" Liu Xian asked, amused by what she called Zhang Jin.
"Yes." Then she left him there. She heard him laughed from behind but she just ignored it.
---
The sprawling expanse of the mansion made her search for the 'prince' quite a challenge. If anything happens to him, she'll get in trouble. That's why she needs to find him as soon as possible.
She ventured to the back of the mansion hoping to find him there, but there was no sign of his familiar figure. When a maid left the gathering, she immediately ran after her and asked, "Can you tell me where Zhang Jin's room is located?"
The maid gave her the location of his room. She quickly entered the mansion and made her way to the elevator. She was heading to the third floor, where Zhang Jin's room was located. As the elevator started, her thoughts didn't stop her from complaining.
'This mansion is huge but there are only two people living here?' She thought to herself.
The elevator halted and the doors opened. She stepped out and immediately heard giggles emanating from the first guest room. It sounded like it could be him with a girl. She leaned her ear closer to the door, curious.
Acting on her hunch, she swiftly opened the door. Her guess wasn't off-mark; someone was indeed inside. But Zhang Jin wasn't present.
"Sorry for interrupting your moment," she said nonchalantly, barely reacting to the scene inside. She bore an expression of utter boredom, swiftly shutting the door behind her.
This type of situation wasn't new to her. She had been taken aback when she first encountered such a scene, even feeling nauseous. But after handling numerous cases, she had grown accustomed to it and it hardly phased her now.
They were engaged in a passionate kiss.
That was what she had witnessed.
She hurried to another room, but he wasn't there either. At the end of the hall, she noticed a large door which she thought might be his. She headed towards it, hoping to find him there.
Without hesitation, she swung the door open. She found Zhang Jin with a girl, their faces inches apart, on the brink of a kiss.
"You can't get away from me. You should ask first before leaving." she said, her voice seething with anger.
This abrupt interruption effectively shattered their intimate moment.
