Tears

"Let's go!" Lian Qiang shouted outside the mansion, trying to call Zhang Jin to come down and get inside the car immediately. The young man was forced to go where the woman wanted for her plan. He was frowning when he already came down and went outside the hallway of the mansion.

"You're so slow, tsk tsk." He rolled his eyes on her when the woman directly went inside the car's driver seat shaking her head at him.

He scoffed, "I should be the one who's complaining, you know what?"

He left outside dumbfounded, waiting for the woman to show her he was still sick from the violence he got from those gangsters. Her forehead had a bandage, and some parts of his face had scars. Luckily, he hadn't sustained any serious injuries. If he had, he might not have been able to walk by now.

The car window of the driver's seat went down. "What are you still doing there? Get inside." She commanded.

He just left a heavy sigh and obeyed the woman instantly, setting aside the remaining complaint he had. He went inside the passenger seat and wore the seat belt.

Lian Qiang wanted to treat him since his condition was now better.

"Where do you think we're going." He said, still frowning.

"We are going to the cafe', my treat." She smiled, ignoring the reaction of the young man. She right away started the car.

Aside from treating her, Lian Qiang has a plan to ask him about Yi Han, since, one of the members of the gang once said yesterday that they were friends before. She wanted to ask so many questions about how they met and where. Other than that, this is the only way she could make it up to him for leaving him yesterday, even though it wasn't her fault that he went outside alone. It's still her responsibility to protect him.

"Why in the cafe'?"

"Because it's more comfortable there." she answered.

"Why not in a bar?" He suggested that left her in surprised. Her ears perked up at what she heard.

"What?" She looked at him for a second, suddenly shifted her eyes to the road.

"In a bar, what's the problem with that?" He asked in confusion.

"I mean you're a minor, how can you even say we should go to the bar?"

He gasped for air and shifted his gaze outside the window's car.

"What did you say?" He returned his eyes to her, asking her in disbelief. "Excuse me? I'm eighteen years old!" He called out, angry because he was being told that he was a minor.

"Okay, Okay sorry, If I thought you were minor. Maybe I forgot." She immediately returned her focus back to the road.

After all these time, she thought this guy was only seventeen years old. They had already discussed his information before with Chief Wei, during their meeting for her first solo case. However, she might have forgotten about it since many things had happened.

She couldn't do anything about the young man's grumpiness, so they went to the bar. She guessed that it made him happy. As Lian Qiang walked into the dimly lit bar, her eyes adjusted to the darkness. She spotted a corner booth and gestured for her companion to follow her.

They promptly ordered something to drink. When the drink arrived, they instantly gulped down their drink without having any conversation. The only noises they heard were coming from the band in front of the people in the bar, singing some popular songs while both of them were watching. But eventually, Lian Qiang realized she had something to ask him about the leader of the gang.

She cleared her throat trying to prepare herself to say, "About Yi Han, how have you guys met?"

"Why are you asking me that?" Question formed on his eyes.

"I just wanted to ask."

He mockingly laughed, " You're asking me that, after what he did to me?"

" I just wanted to ask, this is part of my job. This is part of your safety." She replied.

He stared at her for a second, "No, I'm not answering that."

Lian Qiang shook her head in disappointment. She had hoped to find answers from him, but it seemed she was mistaken. He continued drinking his beer until he got bored, he stood up leaving her there but immediately followed him.

"Where are you going?" she asked as he went out from the bar.

"Can I have the key?"

"Why?" She asked, confused.

"Just give me that." He forcibly got the car key on her hand, "Get inside." He instantly went inside the driver's seat.

"But, why?"

"I said, get inside!" He shouted at her as the car's window opened. Her response was swift, she stood up properly and quickly got into the passenger seat. She just let him go wherever Zhang Jin wanted them to go as long as she's been there, he's safe. It took ten minutes, when they finally arrived, she knew because the car went inside the gateway.

When they arrived at the parking area, Zhang Jin immediately got something from the storage compartment from the dashboard and went outside the car. Lian Qiang, who was unaware of what was happening, followed closely behind Zhang Jin as he made his way to his mother's tomb. However, Lian Qiang only realized what was going on when they reached the grave and Zhang Jin bent down to light incense.

They both kneeled and bowed down to show some respect to the deceased mother of Zhang Jin. They both became silent after performing the sign of respect. Zhang Jin seated in front of the tomb while she remained standing. Lian Qiang saw the name written on -- it was 'Zhang Mei'.

"I missed her," Zhang Jin broke the silence. That made her feel pity for him at the moment. She understands the depth of his pain from what she witnessed.

"I missed her a lot." from her side, she saw a tear falling down from his left cheek. She was puzzled because, despite his usual aloofness, he was crying today, probably because of the alcohol he drank earlier. Or perhaps he really misses the one in the grave.
