Online Friend

"What did I do to deserve this?" Maxine said to herself looking at her reflection in the bathroom mirror. Her face wet from all the tears she wiped off her face, "Why? Why me?" she asks her reflection, before sobbing uncontrollably.

After about two hours has passed, she finally went out of the bathroom, to her bedroom, took her phone and called her online friend, Henry.

"Why would he do this to me?!" she shouted on the phone, again bawling her eyes out, "Max? What happened?" Henry asked with a worried tone, "Was it Alex? Did he cheat on you again?" his tone changed, it sounded more serious. Maxine noticed this and wiped her tears, "Yes..." she answered softly. "Don't worry Max, I promise it'll be alright, okay? He'll regret ever hurting you so much he'll never do it again." Henry said in a very soothing tone. Maxine was confused "What do you mean? How do I do that?" she asked, "You don't have to anything, alright? Just let me handle it." he said, in a tone that again, sounded serious yet soothingn at the same time. She wipes her tears, "How...?" she asked curiously, but he doesn't answer her question, "I have to go, got some important things to do, but I'll call you back tomorrow, okay?" he hurriedly said instead, "Okay..." she responds before Henry hung up on her.

She decided to just rest, so she laid down on her bed, covered her entire self up with her blanket, and cried herself to sleep.

The next day she was walking to school, she noticed that a lot of people was crowding the gate. She just thought it was just another fight, so she just continued walking. As she got out of the crowd, she saw it, Alex's dead body, hanging from the giant clock's hand, all the way down to the outside of the third floor, gunshots on his chest, both his entire lower extremity cut off and his eyeballs gone. Maxine screamed in shock, horror, and grief, she fell down one her knees and started tearing up.

After the body was brought down she watched them take him away with a blank face, tired eyes, and tears still falling down her cheeks. School was suspended for the day because of this event. She went home, traumatized by the sight of Alex's dead body.

Right after she went inside and closed her door, her phone rang, Henry was calling, she decided to answer the call. "H-Hello?" she said in a trembling voice, "I saw the news." Henry said in a slightly arrogant tone, he chuckled and said "I told you he'll regret hurting you, he cried so much, apologizing and begging for forgiveness. Now he'll never do it again, like I promised." Maxine hung up immediately, blocked Alex's number, threw her phone to the ground and stomped on it until the screen was all black. She locked her front door, and ran upstairs to her bedroom terrified. She locked her bedroom door, her windows, and threw herself onto her bed. She covered hid herself under her blanket and started crying in fear. She heard her laptop ring from receiving a notification, she checked to see what it was, it was a message from Henry. She's trembling and scared, but she still decides to see what he said. The message says 'Don't be scared Max, I'm on my way'.
