Chapter 11: Of course it wouldn't be easy! 2
What exactly did the young man have to deal with? The room was empty, and he was the only one here with no other crew member in sight.
The others he had left behind were still occupied with the treasures in the entrance, and now he was the only one looking at the engravings again after the training.
He started walking slowly with his right hand on his katana, ready to burst forward with a slash any second.
Was he just being cautious, or was there an even bigger reason? No one knew but him.
Aside from the small amount of treasures and the gate, there was only the silhouette of an unknown object that Ken could see the shape of but didn't know what it was.
Still he was cautious; he had a theory, and he wasn't going to be dumb enough to ignore it, as his feelings more often than not turned out to be true.
He refused to believe that the way forward would be safe, and his every movement was a demonstration of this.
And just as he thought, the second he was within 10 meters of the gate, the silhouette turned on and luanched itself at him at speeds so astonishing that if he wasn't ready, even he couldn't tell what state he would become, but with how he was now...
*Clack* *FWSHHHH* *Thump* *Thump*
In but one swift motion, he removed his sword from its sheath, a technique he had practiced to perfection after around 20 repetitions, and slashed forward at the incoming object, cutting it cleanly in two.
"Phew." He put his sword back in place and looked behind him.
No one seemed to have been able to come here, but from the equipment of the robot behind him and some weird stains on the ground, that might not be the case.
On the robot's arm there was a gun-like item directly attached to him, and if the young man made that connection to the stains on the ground then that gun arm likely spouted fire.
Fire so hot it could burn a body to ashes.
Turning back to look at the large gate in front of him, Ken forgot about the robot and focused on his goal.
The door might be holding what he wanted, and it might also be holding danger beyond what he could currently handle.
Thus, it was still wise to be cautious, as cautious as he was a second ago.
He walked towards the door, and after a quick look, he noticed that it needed a key shaped like a rock to open.
"A rock-shaped key?" Thinking of this, he immediately turned to look at the robot.
"It might have it." He thought to himself while walking towards it.
He squatted down and gazed at the robot more closely before he started to check if it had what he was looking for.
And it sure did; hidden in a place where a humanoid's heart is supposed to be was exactly the key Ken was looking for. But aside from that, there were also some interesting things within the robot.
Some sparkling gems, some shining wires, and a few weapons on its body, some of which he could use immediately.
He took the sparkling gems that looked like diamonds and then the shining wires that he thought might be very useful as weapons as well as some explosives.
All of this was hidden in his body and his pouch of gold before he walked towards the gate once again. This time, with a key.
He put it in, and almost immediately the gate started opening up by itself, but, with its opening came something worse.
Dozens of shiny dots started appearing all around the room, making Ken tense up and put his hand on his weapons.
The shiny dots were eyes, eyes of robots similar to or even more threatening than the guardian of the gate, but with his eyes starting to get accustomed, he saw something else.
He saw something he was looking forward to seeing. Not exactly a boat, no, but it was something he needed.
It was a staircase, one that led directly to the top. It wasn't fully visible hidden behind a door, but the young man could see it clearly from a window that was on top of the entrance.
But, for him to be able to make sure that it was a way to leave this hole, he had to get rid of the robots.
That's one thing he wasn't sure he was capable of doing, but then a thought lit up in his mind.
Looking through his weapons, he quickly took out one of the explosives he had just gotten and then pulled out a string attached to the same explosive fire lit up.
He threw the line of explosives and ran back outside, then jumped to make sure he wouldn't be affected.
Then... 1, 2, 3...
Nothing happen-
*BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM*
