Arc 1: Part 23

After the meeting was over. Kyle dejectedly walked out of the building. He was truly sad and upset by what had happened. After being selected as the Vice President, he knew his life wouldn't be so easy. He was the co-leader, which meant if Eric wasn't around, the responsibility would fall to him.

{'I should have become a lazy bastard,'} he mused inside grudgingly. Despite thinking that, he knew he couldn't stay still and let his classmates helpless.

{'Hm?'} Kyle squinted his eyes once he recognized someone was standing alone in front of the building.

"Mina?" He called out while straightening his body. He went to approach Mina, who was chewing on a piece of gum while looking at the sky.

Upon hearing her name being called, she looked at Kyle.

"What are you doing here?" Kyle asked, seemingly confused.

"You said I'd work for you. What's the job?" Mina bluntly told her reason.

"I did, but why are you so eager?"

"Duh," Mina rolled her eyes. "I need money, of course."

Kyle wondered if Mina was really poor or just had bad money management. Unfortunately for him, his thoughts were clear to Mina.

"Tsk, I'm not rich like you. I need to work myself to get money. Now come on!" She went to pull him away.

"H-hey! Don't treat your boss like this!" Despite saying that, Kyle let himself be pulled.

Unbeknownst to them, Friena was watching this happen and had a dark cloud over her face.

Unbeknownst to her, Bianca was watching from behind with a shocked but excited expression. "Oh my gosh! School romance!" she whispered excitedly.

Somewhere.

Kyle and Mina finally stopped walking.

"Seriously, you don't need to pull me if you need a job," told Kyle with a sigh.

"It doesn't matter. What do you want me to do?"

"Do you know the third fighter from your Class?"

"Oh, it's Julian Edelfert," Mina answered without care. It honestly amazed Kyle of how easy she revealed something that was supposed to be a secret.

"Even if you know, it doesn't change the fact that we will win," Mina added. Her arrogance seemed boundless.

"So … he is strong," Kyle trailed and waited for Mina's confirmation. If she spilled more, then he wouldn't mind ignoring her arrogance. At the moment, information was the most important thing for him.

"Yes, he is one of the strongest, but not as strong as me."

"Just how good is he?"

"He is a great sword wielder, physically strong, not fast, but facing a fast opponent is not a problem for him. He is good at blocking and making a counter. His magic is mainly focused on buffs, and he is bad at elementals," Mina spilled the beans.

"Is that true?" Kyle asked for confirmation. It was too easy, so he wondered whether Mina was lying or not. But it seemed she wasn't.

"Yes, now, anything else?" Kyle smiled widely once he heard this. She wanted a job? Then he would give her a job.

"Okay, I have a job for you," Kyle said while taking out his wallet and giving her money. Mina's eyes glinted in greed, and she listened attentively to what she would do.

At night in a training room.

Kyle was practicing his string technique when Friena suddenly approached him.

"Kyle," she called with a serious expression.

"Yeah, what is it?" Kyle answered without looking at her.

"Who did you meet after school?"

"Mina from Class Seven."

"Why?"

"She asked for a job, and so I did. She is my underling," Kyle gave an evil laugh at the last word.

"Why are you curious?" Kyle finally turned to her. He suddenly stiffened when looking at her face. "Hey, you couldn't possibly think that?"

"Oh, I don't know." Friena looked at him tiredly. "Your track record stated that many girls were heartbroken by you. So I thought this girl Mina is another one of your victims."

"Hey! I'm not that bad!" Kyle remembered the past of his current life. His family introduced him a lot to the girls in the noble family, and as far as he remembered, he only rejected three girls. Friena's words sound as if he was a playboy who liked to play with a maiden's heart.

"The fact that you don't deny it is concerning," Friena looked at him in mocked disgust. "Fortunately, your current self isn't all that appealing."

"Wow, what did I do wrong to you that you feel the need to attack me like that?"

Friena didn't answer his inquiry.

"Anyway, what job did you give her?"

"Oh, that." Kyle smiled evilly.
