Chapter 12

“Sure. Sounds great.”

For such a beautiful day, the parking lot outside the fenced-in dog park wasn’t very crowded. I was sure tomorrow, Saturday, would really be packed. But for now, there were only a handful of cars. A glance at the park itself, and I could see only a couple of people. I smiled. As much as Aldo loved playing with other dogs, I was glad there weren’t more. It would give both Aldo and myself a chance to get used to the place without being overwhelmed. I got out and stretched, then opened the back door so Aldo could jump down. He sat next to me, his tail wagging.

I had only a moment to wonder where Tru was, when a Jeep pulled into the lot and headed straight for me. Tru waved from behind the windshield, and hopped out the moment he parked in the space next to mine.

“Hey! You found it okay?”

I shot him a look, and my tone was full of playful sarcasm. “Obviously.”
