...Just Because

Preston enjoyed his new routine until Christmas break when he actually did go home. Not that it was any fun. His dad didn't care about doing anything fun for Christmas and left him in the care of a nanny. He spent pretty much the whole time working on a new book and only talked to him long enough to ask how his grades were. 

He hadn't even come to pick him up. The nanny had done that. 

He hadn't resented his dad before but after seeing what dads were supposed to be like…he couldn't help it. He didn't need that much attention but anything would have been better than nothing.

Luz was going to Florida for Christmas break and was very excited about it. She said she would tell him all about it when she got back but he couldn't help but wish he could have gone with her. That would be a lot more fun than sitting around in his house building things by himself like usual.
