Chapter 8 - MEMORIES

(MEMORIES - continued)

Our memories have always had the tendency of allowing themselves to wither away with time.

Nathaniel struggled as he mumbled to himself endlessly without definite words coming out of his mouth, looking at James who stood right next to him as he kept comforting him with words meant to sooth his mind, Nathaniel held both of his hand on his head, covering his ears completely, while the atmosphere of the room went from a beautiful sunny day to a more gloomy afternoon. And when James started to walk closer to Nathaniel in order to calm him down, James saw the same boy from his dream once again.

The boy curled himself with his hands as he sat on the ground unable to breath properly, and as James hugged the boy once more, still stunned at the whole situation, Nathaniel started to calm down and stood up from the ground. James looked at Nathaniel with worried eyes and said, "How about i give you a tour of the bookstore first? We can get a book for you afterwards." And with no recollection of what had conspired before hand Nathaniel agreed enthusiastically.

The moment Nathaniel and James got out of the Salvage room, there was a man standing in front of them.

He looked like he had been pushed right in front of them from the expression he had on his face. James looked at the man in his eyes and said, "Welcome to the Bookstore, what kind of book did you have in mind today?"

Nathaniel unable to understand the situation as he stood right next to James who spoke to the man standing in front of them, giving him all of his attention. He felt a hand grabbing him softly, it was grandma.

She looked at Nathaniel and said to him, "Let's give James some space to help our customer. I guess you weren't our last customer today after all."

They then allowed James to speak to the customer with no interruptions.

As Nathaniel walked away from James with grandma. Heading towards the waiting room Nathaniel felt more nervous than he was when he waked into the salvage room with James, he held grandma's hand tightly in order to sooth his anxiousness. She then stopped and said, " He will be with us in a couple of hours don't worry about it." That on its own served as a way to cool Nathaniel down and let grandma guide him accordingly.

James who was still looking at the man in front of him without a single blink. He had a greyish shirt on which looked like he had been recently man-handled horribly. James then spoke in a single breath, he said, "Do you know the story called 'Soulmates' William?" and abruptly William shook his head. James then held William's left hand with his right hand and said, "Let the moon be witness to the stars in your eyes." and from those words William and himself were transported to a different place which looked nothing like the book store. They found themselves in a park, it seemed to be noon, and the area was empty, Kevin could not fathom the reason why the place looked oddly familiar to him for some strange reason.

Back in the bookstore, grandma and Nathaniel were seated together while Nathaniel could not keep to himself and grandma could not handle Nathaniel's fidgeting any longer. Grandma stood from the sofa spoke to Nathaniel, she said, "Do you know the story about Soulmates? It's one of my favorite novels." Nathaniel then told grandma that he did not know the story. Grandma then stood from her chair and left the room to retrieve the book from her room.

When grandma entered the room once again with the book spoke with a lot of confidence as she stood in front of Nathaniel, she said, " Let the moon be witness to the stars in your eyes, that's the last message which is written in the book. Do you need me to read it for you Nathaniel or will you read it yourself?" Nathaniel then took the book from grandma and gestured that he would read the book by himself.
