Chapter 11 - THE JONES

(SOULMATES)

[do you know why some memories are better off left for the wind to take place?]

While seated together in order to enjoy each other's company grandma looked at Nathaniel in front of her and said, “Do you know the book called, ‘SOULMATES’? it has always been one of my favourite novels of all time.

The famous story about a family which died mysterious leaving only their youngest son and a missing painting called ‘soulmates’. The novel can be very tricky for most people to understand, the story does not have a definite answer for the whole incident. I believe the author came with the idea not knowing how the story would pan out at the end, don’t you this so too Nathaniel?”

Nathaniel suddenly closed his eyes as a way to answer the grandma in front of him, not giving any answer to her but a whole minute of silence, she then smiled and proceeded to what she wanted to disclose to the child next, she said, “James has always been able to choose the perfect story for every customer which visits our bookstore, just so happens that I sometimes also cannot understand the way he operates. The story which he chose for Mr William as well, I cannot see the connection with him and this unfinished story. Does he mean that William has to be stuck in that story just like how the characters do not have an actual ending?”

Nathaniel opened his eyes slowly, allowing his lips to position themselves in a smile with a sense of a chuckle coming to life and said, “There is a line which the author wrote in the last page of the novel which read, ‘THE BATTLE WHICH ERASES THE MIND LEAVING THE MIND TO PONDER ABOUT THE ACTIONS WHICH THE BODY WILLING TAKES IS ONE WHICH ALLOWS FUTILITY TO EXIST’. What do you think the author meant by ending the story with those words?”

And right then grandma’s eyes widened up to show the disbelief she was caught up in, and with that expression she said, “You couldn’t possibly mean what I believe you trying to say Nathaniel, but how could that be? ….. William could never, could he?” …..

[For fear to flourish beautifully, regret should let the dark embrace it with the warmth of the light which has come to pass.]

… AT THE JONES RESIDENCE:

William could not fathom the blood stains which were on his hands while he remembered clearing leaving the room to get a breath of fresh air, but in fact he was somehow stained with blood and there were people laying on the ground in cold blood.

Right then William found himself in the same park which he and James had been in before they were able to enter the door which led them to the Jones residence. There were a lot of people who were present there, it was a truly beautiful sight to witness, yet in a split second the park became empty again with nothing but himself in it.

[The thing about memories can be tricky, but sometimes regret allows a chance for memories to find their way back to their rightful place.]

And when William pondered about what to do about his surroundings or the reasoning behind them, he chose to sit himself on the grass in a perfectly still position for as long as he could hold on, and just when he had gotten used to the situation James appeared once again. He stood right in front of William and said, “Do you know the difference between the truth and reality William?”

William opened his eyes looking at James who seemed to be emotionless and said, “The painting I saw with that woman called Victoria, what is the story behind it? The man who exists in the painting looked sad, more like he was in grief but has not been able to allow himself to grieve. I believe reality is what we cannot see, and the truth is what we believe it to be.” James smiled effortlessly and squatted down to William's level and said, “What you believe is what is true William it does not have to be what you see or what seems real. And right then William and James were transported back to the bookstore. James opened the front door in order to bid farewell to William, and with a happy smile and teary eyes William stepped out of the door. James then placed the painting from the story inside the Salvage room.

Just then, Nathaniel and grandma entered the lounge where James stood right after closing the door. James looked at Nathaniel who looked to be very restless and said, "No, the character William did not kill the family in the story, and our last customer for the day Mr William did not do anything heinous either, he was lost in his own grief that he came up with memories which did not belong to him to begin with in order for him to be able to punish himself, that's why I have placed the painting with those memories in the salvage room where they belong." Right after those words Nathaniel proceeded to grab James's arm once more and said, I believe you owe me a tour of the bookstore.
