/"How stupid am I to promise that I would take care of you?/" I whispered to myself as I stared at Persephone's sleeping figure on the crib, /"I try to think you're just some random pup I have to tend to. But why do you have to look so much like her?/"

The baby didn't respond, her chest slowly rising and falling as she's stuck in her dream land. I inwardly groaned as I wiped my face with both my hands in frustration. Great, now I'm talking to myself.

I peeked at the baby in front of me again, /"You could've at least looked a little like Kratos, and that would've sufficed, you know?/" I added.

I heard a masculine chuckle from behind me, /"Would she be prettier if she got her looks from me?/"

I didn't have to turn around to see Kratos entering the double doors. I've heard his voice and longed for it for all my life to know it was him. Although I wasn't able to smell his scent to know his presence.
