It's him

Gemma walks up to them and greets him.

"I didn't know you were Jaxon's uncle," she said as if blaming him that he didn't tell her. But Gemma knows that they don't even know each other's names, so there's no way he would tell her anything too.

"Well, I didn't you know you were my nephew's new piano teacher."

Gemma looks at him awkwardly with a smile.

"Sean Qin," he said and held out his hand to her.

Gemma looks at him and quickly takes his hand. "Gemma Su."

He nods and both of them released their hands. "Forgot to ask you yesterday to come to the station for eyewitness testimony. Do you have the time later?" He asks.

"Huh? Oh right, yea I do." Gemma almost forgot what happened yesterday.

"Did you eat yet? I'm bringing Jaxon for lunch right now. Miss. Su, do you want to join us?" He asks her.

"It's okay. You guys can go, I'll just go to the police station later." Gemma said and kindly rejects him.

But the next moment, Jaxon takes her hand. "Gemma, please come?" as he slightly swings her hand back and forth. Gemma can't stand when kids do that to her. But at the same time she doesn't want to go eat lunch with them or else it'll be pretty awkward.

"How about next time? I promised my sisters that I'll eat lunch with them," she said pointing to her sister, Adian who's standing at the corner.

Both Jaxon and Sean look in the direction she pointed.

"You're Adian Su's sister?" Sean asks her.

Gemma looks at him. "You know my sister?"

Sean shakes his head. "Since Miss Su isn't free, then I'll see you at the station later."

They said their goodbyes and walks out of the hotel. Gemma confusingly looks at her sister and thought about it before. It seems like he knows her sister, but didn't say much.

"Sis, do you know him?"

"My ex-" before Adian can finish her sentence, Gemma cuts right through.

"What?? When did this happen? How come I didn't know?"

Adian stops walking and hits her head with her paperwork. "Can you let me finish saying?"

Gemma rubs the part where she hits and listens.

"Sean Qin is my ex-boyfriend's best friend."

In all her 23 years of life, she only knows that her sister dated one person only unless she hid her past relationships and didn't tell them.

"Jayden Zhao?" Gemma asks carefully.

Jayden Zhao was her sister's best friend and first love, and they dated for three years. But when she told them that they have broken up, Adian wouldn't give the reasons.

Adian nods. "Speaking of that, you should have seen him before too."

"I did?" But Gemma doesn't remember.

After eating lunch with her sister, she calls a cab and went to the police station.

"Hi, I was told by a police called Sean Qin for an eyewitness testimony," Gemma said to the officer at the front desk.

"Oh, Captain Qin? He's on a mission right now. How about you wait here for him? He should be back soon," the officer said.

Just twenty minutes ago, Sean Qin was called on a mission and they all went out.

Gemma nods and sat on the bench.

After almost 30 minutes, Sean Qin still hasn't come back yet, and outside started to rain. Gemma didn't expect it'll take this long and she didn't bring an umbrella.

Just then a little boy walks out, "Gemma!" Jaxon ran up to her and looks at her with a smile.

"Jaxon? Why are you here?" she asks him.

"My uncle dropped me off and left me here," he said with some sadness.

Gemma faintly laughs. She slowly finds Jaxon more adorable every time he talks to her. Jaxon then sits next to her and both of them start talking.

"Gemma, do you like my uncle?" Jaxon asks her.

Gemma looks at him and flicked his lightly flicked his forehead. "I wonder what's stored in that little brain of yours. Do you always go around asking people like that?"

Jaxon shakes his head. "Of course not. Not every woman is good for my uncle. I have to help him find a special one."

"Can't believe you're such a nice nephew to your uncle," Gemma said while rubbing his head.

Jaxon likes that compliment a lot, "Needless to say, no one cares more about my uncle's relationship than I do." He said patting his little chest with a big smile.

Gemma laughs at his action, "your uncle must be very lucky then."

"Since my uncle isn't back yet, want to go to my uncle's office with me?" he asks her.

"It's okay. I'll just wait right here for your uncle to come."

Who knows what that office has that she can't see. What if she sees something that she's not allowed to and arrests her.

Jaxon seems to know what she's thinking. "Gemma, it's fine. Uncle's room has nothing besides a chair and a desk." Without Gemma to respond, Jaxon takes her hand and walks into the office space.

Gemma quickly looks at the officer sitting there, but he didn't say anything.

"Are you sure this is allowed?" Gemma asks him.

"Gemma are you scared?" Jaxon asks her.

Of course, she's scared. She doesn't want to go to jail at this young age.

"No need to be scared. If anything, I'll protect you." Jaxon said with his confident voice.

Even though Jaxon is only 6, every time he says and acts like an adult, Gemma couldn't help but find it adorable.

Jaxon guides her to the end room where Sean Qin's office is.

Gemma thought inside would be a mess, but she was wrong. The room is neat and it does have only two chairs and a desk like Jaxon described.

While Jaxon was waiting for his uncle, he has been drawing and coloring.

"Wow, you drew this?" Gemma asks him while looking at his artwork.

Jaxon slightly blushes, he never really shows his artwork to anyone besides his uncle.

"They're pretty. Maybe you should be my art teacher," Gemma said teasingly but with seriousness.

Jaxon couldn't believe what he just heard. "You want me to teach you? But I'm not even that good at it too."

"You call this not good?" Gemma said with disbelief. If this is called not good, then she doesn't know what is good anymore.

"My uncle taught me this. How about you ask my uncle to teach you?" Jaxon said.

Gemma didn't expect that Sean Qin taught him this. Even though she just met him yesterday, to her, Sean Qin looks more like an old mature man.

Just then the door opens and Sean Qin walks in.

Gemma got flustered by the suddenness and accidentally dropped the drawings on the floor.

"Miss Su?" he said and then saw his nephew next to her.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to--" Jaxon then steps in front of her. "Uncle, it's not Gemma's fault. It was my idea to bring her here. Who tells you to come back so late," he said with his cheeks puffed up.

At first, Gemma thought that Jaxon was just saying about 'protecting her', but seeing his actions now, she finds it funny.

Sean looks at his nephew and didn't expect him to say these things. He faintly laughs and takes his hand, "what you did is good. Uncle isn't mad at you, and won't blame Miss. Su." He said and looks at Gemma.

"Sorry for the long wait. The testimony shouldn't take long. Let's get started?" He asks Gemma back with his working tone.

Gemma nods and follows him out to the conference room.

In less than 20 minutes, they finished with the eyewitness testimony.

"Thank you for the corporation," Sean said to Gemma.

"I'm glad I can help. If there's nothing else, I have somewhere else to go," she said.

Sean looks at her. 'She has changed.' He thought and then walks her out of the station.

"Uncle, you like Gemma right?"

He looks down and saw Jaxon smiling at him. He didn't even know when his nephew even came out.

"You--" he flicks Jaxon's forehead and sighs.

Jaxon rubs his forehead and quickly follows his uncle. "I'm right though? The way you look at Gemma is different from when you look at me. It's like eyes full of stars."

Sean stops walking and looks at his nephew. "Are you Jaxon?"

Jaxon doesn't understand why his uncle asking him that. "How am I not Jaxon?" he asks Sean.

"Your only 6. Who teach you how to say these things?" He asks and strictly looks at Jaxon. Sean always goes easy on his nephew, but when he needs to educate Jaxon, he doesn't mind being the bad guy.

"Mom told me that. She tells me that when a man falls in love, they would look at their loved one differently from others. Just like when their eyes and heart can't fill other things besides her."

Sean now really wonders what his sister teaches his son. He knows that his family has been rushing him to find a girlfriend and get married. And knows that this nephew of his kept going around finding him a woman.

"Next time don't say that anymore. You understand?" he said to Jaxon.

"Why? What mom said isn't right?" Jaxon looks at Sean confusingly.

"What she said isn't wrong, but uncle isn't in a rush to find a girlfriend or get married. So no need to keep helping me find a woman. Understand?" He said it slowly and explains it to Jaxon. But Jaxon doesn't seem to understand.

"But Gemma said she doesn't like men that are old. Uncle, your 33. Are you sure?" Jaxon said while sending arrows crushing Sean's heart.

Sean remembered what Gemma said to Jaxon earlier today.

<< I don't like old man>> -

Sean could feel his head starts to hurt. He doesn't think being 33 would make his nephew think he is old. And didn't expect Gemma to say that too.

"If you say again, I'll punish you for writing the house rules 50 times!" Sean said with his strict voice.

Jaxon quickly covers his mouth with his hand and didn't say a word after.

On the other hand, Gemma got back to her apartment and took a quick shower. Today her cousin, Reed came back from a business trip. But somehow he argued with his parents and left home. Now he's coming over to her place.

*Ding Dong*

Gemma went to open the door and see him standing there.

"Hey CUZ, you miss me?" he said with a grin while having his luggage by his side.

Gemma gives him a fake laugh. "Sure sure, come on in."

Reed smiles at her still and walks in like it's his house. "Don't be like that. I won't stay for too long. I'm just waiting for an apology from the old man and I'll go back."

Gemma gives him an eye. "You expect uncle would come and give you an apology? I don't even know how come uncle still hasn't kicked you out of the house yet!"

"He already did! That's why I'm here," he said with his careless smile.

Gemma sighs. "The room is already prepped for you. Just don't make a mess!" she said with warning.

"When do I ever make a mess?"

"Are you sure you want to know what you did?" Gemma said and prepares to take out her phone, and read everything out to him.

Reed quickly got up from the couch, " you didn't eat yet right? Let's order food." He quickly gets his phone out and opens the delivery food app.

"Want fried chicken or pizza?" he asks her.

"Why not both?" she said.

Reed quickly nods, "smart!"

They could disagree on anything but food. When it comes to food, they would stop their argument.

Shortly the doorbell rang and Gemma went to open the door.

"Why are you here?" Gemma asks while looking at Sean.

She then remembers that he lives next door, "oh. Do you need something?" she asks him.

"I came--" Before he can finish saying, Reed walks to the door to see what's taking her this long.

"Gemma, what's taking so long?" Reed asks and then noticed Sean.

"This is?" Reed puts on his protective older brother's look and stares at Sean.

Gemma who stands between the two men suddenly came back to her sense. "This is my new neighbor, Sean Qin." She said to Reed.

Reed nods but still looks at Sean. "Is there something that you need?" he asks Sean.

Sean didn't show any emotion and completely ignores Reed. "I came to tell you that Jaxon will be coming over tomorrow. He wants to ask if you are free tomorrow for a drawing lesson."

Gemma looks at him confusingly. And then she remembered earlier back the day when Jaxon told her that it was his uncle that taught him how to draw.

"Would I be bothering?" she asks him. She does want to learn, but also she doesn't know why she feels weird around him. Not in a bad way, but maybe not used to it?

Sean smiles and shakes his head. "I'll see you tomorrow at 10 Am." He then walks into his apartment leaving Gemma standing there overwhelmed. She doesn't remember saying anything about going.

Reed on the other hand snaps her back to reality.

"Fangirling?" he said to her with a teasing voice.

"What are you talking about? I was just lost in thought."

Just then the food came and they brought it in. Reed lays it out on the table as Gemma went to get the plates and water. They got a habit of water because of this family rule. So, even though they're eating junk food, soda isn't something that's on the list.

"You don't remember who he is?" Reed asks her. By the look on her face before, Reed can be fully sure that she doesn't remember who he was.

Gemma looks at him. "Don't tell me you know him?"

"Of course. Even though he does look more handsome than before, I still could remember him."

Gemma suddenly got curious. "Who is he? How come every one of you knows him, but I don't?"

"Who else knows him?" Reed asks.

"Adian. She said that was Jayden Zhao's best friend."

Reed nods. "She's right. You should know him too, but it's understandable. This guy changed a lot."

Gemma tries to think, but no one seems to come up to mind. "Who is he?" she asks him.

"What do I get in return?" Reed asks and takes a bite of the fried chicken.

Gemma glares at him. "What do you want?"

"Easy to say. Let me stay here for one month." He said with a greedy smile and continues eating.

"Don't you have your apartment? Why do you have to stay here?" Gemma asks and not understanding his motive.

"You don't need to know that much. Deal or no deal?" he asks.

Gemma suppresses her anger.

"Deal."

"Now tell me who he is!"

Reed takes out his phone and it took him some time to find the photo.

"Here."

Gemma takes the phone and gasps. "It's him?!"

The next morning, Reed left for work early in the morning. When it was 10 AM, Gemma decides to visit him.

She knocks on the door and fixes her hair while waiting for the door to be opened.

"Gemma!" Jaxon calls out to her and takes her hand in.

He places a pair of slippers in front of her and waits for her to change.

"You've come? I thought you wouldn't want to come," Sean said while setting the table with papers and a pencil.

"I came to confirm one thing," she said while looking at Sean. Gemma finds it hard to believe that the boy from 15 years ago would turn out to be like this.

Sean smiles, "it seems like you've figured something out?"

Gemma walks up to him and looks at him closely. She couldn't help but touch his face, "you are that chubby boy from next door? But how could?"

"What secret recipe did you use? You are too--"

"Too what?" he asks stepping closer to her as if it's for her to see closer.

Gemma swallows and looks into his eyes. "Too handsome," and then pushes him away.

Sean laughs, "if you want to know, I could tell you later. We have plenty of time."

Jaxon looks at them confusingly. Yesterday his uncle just told him that he's not in a rush to find a girlfriend, but what he just saw right now is a different story.
