Chapter 18: Wan Shi Tong

"A human? What is a human doing in my domain?!" the owl bellowed with authority.

"I don't know, I was in the spirit world and suddenly I appeared here" Sokka answered honestly. The atmosphere seemed to calm down.

"Spirit world? I thought I had covered all the portals" the owl calmed down, "This is my library and I am the spirit Wan Shi Tong"

'Wan Shi Tong's library?' Sokka thought. He had heard that name somewhere. But if it was a library, there would be information.

"Now you will be returned to the spirit world" commented Wan Shi Tong spreading his wings.

"No, no, wait! I belong to this world, a spirit took me to its world" Sokka told him quickly, "Can I read its books?"

"For that you would have to give me a gift, do you have something with you?" asked the spirit.

"Sure." Sokka just had to look for something in the system inventory, and he pulled out a scroll with a map on it and showed it, "Is this useful?"

"I guess." Wan Shi Tong took it.

"You brought this library from the spirit world, right?" Sokka asked, illustrating his inquiries regarding this topic.

"Yes, these wolves are in charge of bringing me the knowledge of the world." Sokka looked at the small animals, "But you humans always ruin what you touch!"

"I don't understand." Sokka was confused.

"Years ago a human came to this library, and after acquiring the information he wanted, he burned it all," the spirit answered.

"Burned?" Then Sokka realized that it was someone from the Fire Nation, as usual, "Well, luckily I'm not from that damn country"

"But you're still human, you just seek knowledge for your own purposes" Wan Shi Tong replied, "And then they throw it away"

"I won't deny it, but also because I like to know what I still don't know" Sokka smiled. The spirit remained thoughtful, and left that place.

"Well, it's time to look for information" Sokka rubbed his hands.

First he would look for information about the Fire Nation, which was a priority. Then he could look for Chi, spirits and such.

"Oh, will you help me find what I'm looking for?" Sokka saw the wolf a few meters away from him, who began to jump slowly.

Sokka followed the animal, and led him to a room where everything was indeed burned, "Shit, they were very smart"

Burning the information that would possibly put the entire Fire Nation in check, was a very clever move, really.

"Now what the hell do I do?" Sokka crossed his arms, and the wolf seemed to indicate an area by tilting his head.

Sokka walked a little and saw a kind of planetarium. In the center there was a structure with a lever, which the wolf lowered.

Then the moon and the sun on the roof began to move, and a starry sky appeared on the roof. Sokka remained thoughtful until he came to a conclusion.

"This seems to imitate the movements of the sun and the moon... an eclipse?!" Sokka exclaimed and continued moving the lever, until there was an eclipse on the roof.

After several movements, he saw when the next eclipse would be, "But what will happen in the eclipse?" Sokka was curious.

In any case, he was left with the day it would happen. But suddenly, the wolf brought him a half-burned paper. Sokka took it.

"The darkest day in the history of the fire nation" Sokka read what was written. And curiously the date of the writing was the last eclipse.

"So the eclipse is bad for the Fire Nation... does it take away their powers?" Sokka was almost jumping.

If this was so, victory was assured. However, he had to keep reading, so he left the room, in search of more information.

"I shouldn't be long, Aang and my sister must be waiting for me" Sokka thought of them.

"Aang!" Katara exclaimed when she saw Aang at the entrance, and behind him, quite a few people appeared.

"The spirit Hei Bai was only angry because they burned the forest, but I showed him the seeds that were sprouting" commented Aang smiling.

"That's great, but where's Sokka?" asked Katara happily, she didn't see her brother anywhere among so many people there.

"I..." Katara's face slowly faded, "I haven't seen him Katara, I don't know where Sokka is" Aang lowered his head, helpless.

And Katara shed a lone tear hearing that...
