WARNING!!! ( INFO DUMPS UP AHEAD!)
The sun was hanging above the sky shining so brightly in the afternoon when a female figure approached a male figure and said. "Hey ■■■■! Wanna go and wander around the forest? It's waaay~ too boring here in the village even though it was supposed to be a field trip. " The blurry female figure complained.
"Still no matter how bored you are here in the village you really shouldn't disobey ■■■■'s instruction and cause trouble. Didn't he say that we shouldn't wander around the forest carelessly as we could easily get lost or be attacked by wild animals? And unlike you a certain someone i have no plans on causing any mischief and getting scolded." The male figure replied.
The female figure reassured him and said. "Don't worry we won't go too far and besides ■■■■ didn't mention anything about the forest being dangerous, he only said that we could easily get lost and there will be alot of wild beast roaming around. If the forest were really such a dangerous place the instructor wouldn't even let us camp here let alone not warn us about the potential danger."
"..."
"..."
"What do you mean did not say anything about the forest being dangerous, He specifically said that there are wild beast roaming around!" The male figure retorted.
"If you don't want to come with me then don't! I'll just go there and explore all by myself." The female figure pouted.
"Haah, fine I'll go with you, Im afraid that you might get in trouble if I leave you alone." The male figure sighed in defeat.
"Why do both of you treat me like a child! It's understandable if ■■■■ does it since he is my ■■■■ but you? Im as old as you!" The female figure complained.
"■■■■■■ im not treating you like a child. I didn't mean it that way, i meant that you are way too reckless for your own good so i need to watch over you. Besides you might get lost in the forest, so i need to come with you so even if we do get lost atleast you wouldn't be alone and anxious." The male figure explained himself.
"Tsk, I'll let you off the hook for now so hurry up and let's go to the forest!" The female figure said with excitement on her tone.
Zzst~
The scene change again. The moon was out this time and he was in a forest running desperately while carrying a passed out female figure.
The female figure's skin was quite pale but other than that she doesn't have any injuries.
"Sh*t, I knew that guy was suspicious we shouldn't have trusted him." The male figure cursed while carrying the female figure.
Although the female didn't have any visible injuries and only looked pale, but the same couldn't be said for the Male figure. He has a cut on his head which dyed the side of his face crimson and his left arm bled profusely. Ignoring the pain he carried the female figure and ran out of the forest. Then everything went bright.
Sett woke up from his dream.
~~~
It was early in the morning and birds chirped loudly when a voice could be heard grunting.
"Ugh, my chest." Set groaned slightly because of the pain.
But still what a weird dream i had. The female figure somehow feels familiar, Is it from my memories? Sett thought in confusion.
It's been 3 days since Dominic found Sett on the side of the road and he has been taking care of Sett all this time. Sett felt indebted to Dominic because not only did Dominic save his life but Dominic also took care of Sett.
"I guess it's still early in the morning." Sett
uttered in a low voice.
Sett slept on the cart while Dominic and Azalie slept in their tents. Although the cart was cold it had a roof and Dominic layed down Sett on a thin futton which made him comfortable.
Sett still had a relatively clean bandage since his wounds closed yesterday and because Dominic changes his bandages every single day since Dominic found him.
Since his wounds closed Sett wanted to try and get up using the seat on the cart as a support.
"Ugh, my body feels quite heavy and it hurts but it's nothing i can't handle." Sett said as he slowly stood up.
"Hm? Isn't that the pole that i found on that village?" Sett murmured as he picked up the pole and used it as a crutch to support his body.
Using the pole is a crutch he slowly walked and got off the cart.
After getting off the cart he looked back and saw his leather bag stuffed under the wooden seat of the cart.
Using his hands to grab the bag he then took it out from under the seat and opened it.
Sett rummaged through his bag to take the books that he placed inside the bag. "Maybe Dominic can teach me how to read so that i can understand this book." He thought.
Taking a book out from his bag he then closed his bag and stuffed it under the woodem seat of the cart.
"You feeling any better kid?" A rough yet kind voice asked behind him.
"!!!" Sett flinched when he heard the voice.
"Don't worry kid it's just me." The voice reassured Sett as the sound of footsteps grew closer and closer with each step.
Hearing the reassuring voice, Sett turned around and looked at the source of the voice.
"Oh it's you uncle, did you come to visit me?" Sett asked.
"Yeah I just wanna check if the bandage is getting bloodied again so i can change it." Dominic replied with a smile.
"Also is that a book you're holding?"
"Yes... I found it on a bookshelf on the room where i woke up from. I tried to read it but i couldn't understand the symbols or letters that is written on the book." Sett replied.
"Hey kid can i take a look at that for a minute?" Dominic requested.
"Ah sure." Sett replied while handing the book to Dominic and then requested. "I wish i could read it but i think i forgot how to read and write aswell so i hope that you can read it for me uncle if it's not too much trouble."
"Sure thing, it's not like I'm a very busy person and atleast you'll have skmething to busy yourself with while you're still recovering from your wounds." Dominic replied after recieving the book from Sett.
Holding the book with his two hands, Dominic started to read the book when his brows suddenly frowned.
"Is something wrong Uncle?" Sett asked after noticing Dominic's frown.
"Yes... this book seems to be a mage's diary and contents are written in mystes language. No wonder you couldn't read it kid, only mages who specifically studied the mystes language can read these letters." Dominic explained.
"Ah... that's a shame, i really wanted to read it aswell." Sett murmured with a crestfallen look.
"Don't beat yourself up over it too much, even though this old man can't teach you anything about mystes language I can help you read and write in the empire's language." Dominic consoled Sett.
Hearing this Sett's face brightened up slightly and said. "Thank you uncle... But I already owe alot of goodwill from you, I'm afraid that i might be requesting too much."
"Don't worry about it Kersett, I just can't bear to see your gloomy look after hearing that even i couldn't read the mystes language." Dominic said while smiling at Sett.
"Do you have more of these books? As far as i know books written in Mystes language is quite rare since only a select few magicians choose Mystes language to write their diaries."
"Yes i do have 4 more books in my bag... I took it from the room that i woke up in as i said earlier." Sett replied.
"Alright can you let me see the books? Maybe the other books aren't written in Mystes language and are written in Homeric language." Dominic suggested.
"Homeric language?" Sett asked.
"Oh did i not tell you? My mind is starting to deteriorate as i grow older hahaha." Dominic laughed and explained. " Homeric language is the empire's official language."
"Ah! The one that you mentioned earlier." Sett replied enthusiastically.
"That's right, let's talk about the languages later and take a look at those books." Dominic suggested.
Hearing Dominic's suggestion, Sett turned around and grabbed his backpack that he stuffed under the seat and took out the other 4 books that he took from the place that he first woke up in and handed them to Dominic.
~~~
Afyer Dominic examined each book he placed them on the floor of the cart and said to Sett. " You are one lucky kid Kersett!" Dominic smiled as he looked at Sett.
"Out of the five books that you found three are written in Mystes language while one is written in Mageia language."
"Mageia language?" Sett curiously asked.
"Mageia language is the language that every mage or magician learn. It is the language of magic." Dominic explained.
"Now unfortunately i can't read Mageia language since i didn't learn it but you can ask Azalie to teach you how to read Mageia language."
"What about the fifth book uncle?" Sett asked again.
Grinning widely Dominic replied to Sett.
"That's where you hit the jackpot kid! The fifth book isn't called a book at all instead it is called a Codex."
"A Codex?" Sett asked with great curiosity.
"Yes! A codex is something extremely valuable and expensive that only rich people, mages and nobles can afford them.
Now let me explain what a codex is. A codex is a unique treasure that is left behind by the ancient mage's of the past and every codex has a spell imprinted on them. The type of spell imprinted on a codex is often related to the name of the codex which you can find on the cover of the book. Unfortunately the codex's name is written in the Magic language, Mageia
So i can't read it but you can go ahead and ask little Azi for help." Dominic suggested.
Sett bowed his head at Dominic before saying thank you.
"You can also ask Azalie for more details about the Codex. Since she is a magician she will surely know more about the codex than i do." With a smile on his face Dominic suggested again before adding. "Let's leave it at that for now, i still need to go and cook breakfast."
"Can i help you with anything uncle? My wounds have already dried and started to heal so you don't have to worry about me." Sett asked.
"Let me think first." Dominic replied.
Dominic thought for a while before saying.
"How about you chop the vegetable while i cook? I can aslo teach you how to cook while we're at it."
"Alright!" Sett enthusiastically replied as he followed Dominic and slowly limped towards the campfire using the metal pole that he found as a crutch.
After they reached the campfire Dominic taught Sett how to chop the vegetables as they cooked together.
