The Puppets

Slowly I crept towards the large wrought iron doors. Old blood and rust caked the surface of the metal. I pushed with all my might daring the cold bars to give way to my freedom. But they would not budge. I sat down on the hard wooden bed, a million thoughts of how I could escape ran through my mind. There were no windows only tiny holes for light and fresh air. My father's jokes while he teased the dog. My little sister laughing constantly. That was all gone now. A tear pricked in my eye. Suddenly a tune stared playing through the speakers. Two puppets were lowered from the ceiling. Their smiles plastered on their faces. Their feet touched the floor. They started an eerie dance with a song. "Are you afraid? You should be! We have lots of plans for you! Just take care to follow the rules and then you should be fine!"
