DEATH 2

Daniel dashed into the operation theatre and nudged the surgeon that was doing the operation aside.

"Stop what you are doing! Stop the operation!" Daniel declared, and grabbed the drip fluid above his father’s head and turned it off.

"W... What are you doing, doctor Daniel?" the surgeon asked with a confused look.

"You can’t do this! This is the shortcut to death!" Daniel said.

"What are you saying? You are the one that asked me to do all I could to save your father," the doctor protested.

"I did, but surgery is not the way. He has been operated on before. If he goes under the knife again because of the same sickness, he will die!" Daniel said. The doctor stepped aside. Daniel was right.

"He will die if we don’t do something!" the doctor half yelled.

"You guys can go, I know what I am doing." Daniel said with wide eyes and started trying to push his dad out of the room with the wheel bed.

"Doctor Daniel, you can’t do this. Your father is going to die. Let me help you." the doctor said standing in his way.

"Get out of my way, you know nothing. You don’t need to care about my dad." Daniel said, pushing the bed, and the doctor stepped out of the way for him to pass. Daniel was mad. He was very much aware that his father was on the verge of death and nothing could save him. The surgery was a 20% chance. He was a professional doctor, but he was acting like a possessive and emotional man.

"What is wrong with him? Except there is a miracle. Nothing can save his father now." The doctor commented with an indifferent expression and started taking off his gloves and dropping them on a tray.

Daniel rolled his father down the corridor and into another ward filled with people. He rolled his dad to an empty spot and arranged his bed, putting down the petition curtains. He sighed and put his hand on his waist, staring at his father. Thick red blood started escaping from his father’s nose. A lot of thoughts were flooding his mind. His assistant and another nurse walked over to him.

"What can I help you with?" his assistant asked. Daniel didn’t respond. He was lost in thought, with his gaze still fixed on his father and his hand shaking on its own accord.

"Sir?" his assistant muttered, gazing at him. "Uhm, Sir, is everything alright?" he asked, jolting Daniel out of his trance.

"What?" Daniel arched his brow. "What are we going to do now?" he inquired.

Daniel took a deep breath and hovered around his father, putting on the drip fluid. He was running out of time. He felt his father’s pulse. His father’s hand started moving, and he grasped his hand, and his father’s eyes slowly opened.

"Daniel…" he said in a weak tone. Daniel used his handkerchief to wipe the blood dripping on his father’s nose, "Dad." Daniel muttered.

"Where is A-Amber?" he said.

"She is at the hospital. She has got the flu." Daniel replied.

"I…I want to see her." He said.

"She isn’t in a position to walk." Daniel said, with a sad expression. "I want to see…" Mr. Darlington said in a weak tone and started trying to sit up on the bed, while Daniel prevented him from getting up.

"Let me go to her," he said.

"She is not in this hospital, dad. You can see her some other time. I need to take care of you first." Daniel said and turned to look at his assistant, telling him the names of medicines and drugs to bring for him. His assistant nodded and sauntered away.

"I want to see Amber. I might not get the chance to see her." Mr. Darlington said, squeezing his eyes shut. His body was slowly getting out of his control. He was losing control of every organ in his body. It felt like a beast was in there eating all his organs. His body was slowly dying.

"Arrgh!!" He groaned in pain. As his lips parted and Daniel spotted his blood-red mouth, his stomach flipped. There was no way to save his dad’s life now. He was crying inside of him, although he was fighting back the tears in reality.

"Dad, calm down. I am going to save you. I promise you." Daniel said, holding tightly to his hand as the blood dripped on his hand.

"I am going to save you. You will be able to see Amber." Daniel assured with a faint smile when his assistant arrived with the nurse carrying a lot of pills.

"I don’t think I can make it. I want to see her one last time." Mr. Darlington said, and his words angered Daniel. He was talking like someone that had given up on life.

"Don’t say that, You are going to be fine. Trust me." Daniel said, with his voice hoarse, and grabbed a syringe from the tray of the nurse.

"This will do the job; it will shut his body down for some hours." Daniel thought, grabbing his father’s wrist. Mr. Darlington was shaking. He didn’t want Daniel to give him another sedative. He had a lot of things he wanted to say to Amber before he passed on. He wanted to see that she was happy.

Xavier was allowed into the room where Amber was, but he was putting on an overall with a breathing mask so he wouldn’t be able to catch the flu. He was carrying a tray of food. Her eyes widened as she saw him. It was as if she was dreaming. How was he able to get into the hospital room? She didn’t know what kind of sickness she had, but she couldn’t breathe. How was he going to feed her? She thought battling her lashes.

He dragged a chair and sat in front of her, putting the tray of food on his lap.

"You are awake," he said. He was sounding like a robot through the mask. Amber wanted to talk. She wanted to ask him a lot of questions, but no matter how hard she tried, he couldn’t hear what she was saying in the tube. Her breath just fogged up the tube.

"I brought you food," he said and moved closer to her, he had been told by the nurse not to try to remove her mask but he wanted to give it a shot, he knew she would be hungry, he was told by Peter that she didn’t eat last night.

He extended his hand, trying to remove the tube. Amber started shaking her head, trying to tell him not to take it off, but he didn’t listen to her. He took it off. She gazed at him and started catching her breath.

"Xavier, I can’t breathe…" She said and passed out. He panicked and quickly put the tube back on her nose.

"Amber! Amber!" He called out to her in his hoarse voice, shaking her on the bed.

"Doctor! Doctor!" He yelled, running out of the room, A doctor ran into the room to see Amber.

"Stay out," the doctor said, shutting the door. Xavier stood back as different nurses walked past him and entered the room. He grabbed his hair and gazed at the door.

"Ugh! I shouldn’t have done that." He groaned and slammed his fist into the wall in a rage.

Mason got into his car with Lily by his side, he glared at her and ignited the engine.

"So honey, where are we going to live in this new city?" She asked.

"I hadn’t thought of that. We are going to live in a hotel," he replied, without stealing a glance at her. She pursed her lips.

“Did you just call me honey? Don’t you dare call me that.” he said gruffly.

"Since you wanted to migrate to her city, I thought you already had plans," she said under her breath.

"What did you say?" he asked, with a little bit of anger in his voice.

"Nothing," she replied, and her gaze landed on the side mirror. She spotted Eric’s car behind them. "Huh? What the fuck is he doing here?" She thought and turned around in the car, looking at his car. It looked like Eric’s car. She was convinced that it had to be his car.

"Why is he trailing us?" she thought and placed her hand on her face, closing her eyes. She moved to her seat and rested her head on it, biting her lower lip. Mason stole a glance at her and made a U-turn. She sat up to see if the car was still trailing them. Her eyes widened it was.

 "Gosh!" she groaned.

Mason slowed down the car as he reached the border of their city. He wanted to drive past, but there were huge barrels blocking the road. The security agents walked to the window of his car. Mason stared at them and they all bowed with respect, they knew his father.

"I am going…" One of the agents cut in before Mason could complete his speech.

"You don’t need to explain yourself, you can go have a nice trip." the man said with a tight lip smile.
