Chapter 52

Tom was the last to arrive at the meeting on Monday night. Opening his notebook, he asked the others if they had anything to report. It appeared that a number of people were itching to tell their stories. He asked Simon to start and they all became very interested when he said that he had spoken to Abby's dad.

Opening up a piece of A4 paper, Simon told them about his conversation with Ron.

"I made some notes. I didn't want to misquote him. I asked if he knew that Rory was living at his old house and he said "yes, Abby keeps going on about it"."

Simon went through the rest of their chat, mentioning how Ron had said that Abby didn't like anyone living at the house and had been sad to leave it. 

"I was thinking, afterwards, about our schooldays. Do you remember that incident with Abby and Serena? Tripping her up and then laughing at her."

"Oh, yes. I had forgotten about that. It was a cruel thing to do." Rory looked troubled as he answered.
