Book of the Crescent, Part Two

Upon the shores of a worn kingdom, the prince sends his gaze to the castle lying over the horizon. His life had been spent roaming the insides of that structure. From the moment of his birth, he grew to learn that the kingdom would one day be held in his palms. His father often reminded him of the expectations that came with becoming a sovereign, but these reminders soon spiraled into violent lectures filled with disappointment and defeat. The prince once looked up to his father for inspiration, but as his head fell with the weight of his father's doubt, he witnessed the kingdom crumbling in the failures of the monarch.

Despite escaping from the torment his father had wounded him with, the prince hears echoes of the King's beckoning as if they were coming from the castle itself. As the echoes grow louder, the prince turns to a flame sparking before him. The woman below him, clashing flint against the steel of her dagger, may be the one to help him bring the torches of revolt beyond the shores. Although unaware of what brings her to guard him from the knights that twist his name with malicious threats, the prince has no choice but to keep her protection, no matter why she risks her life to offer it in the first place.

As the people of the kingdom learn of his brother's death, the royal son hears roars and howls beyond the forests that separate him from the people. The king has descended into a beast, releasing predators to the forests to hunt for his son, and the people are scavenging for protection. Should the woman through the fire serve as his blade against the animals out for his blood, the prince and the kingdom may unite to free the throne and its future.

In the face of a new uprising, it will take a legion to bring the tyrant down.
