MERCY

Dick wraps bandages around Aaron's leg as Huntress paces back and forth behind them.

"We need to go after that fat bastard before he leaves town." She says.

"We will." Nightwing replies, continuing to wrap Aaron's injury.

Cash then stops him.

"I can take it from here, partner. You better go after Mandragora before your girlfriend leaves without you."

Nightwing smirks as Huntress scoffs.

"He wishes." Huntress says, walking outside.

"I'll call Yin, and fill her in on what's going on." Dick says.

Aaron nods and Nightwing goes outside to where Huntress is.

"Let's go." Nightwing says.

"You're still gonna let me help, knowing what I'm going to do to Mandragora?"

Nightwing doesn't answer for a moment.

"I don't have time to fight you and catch Mandragora. We'll cross the bridge when we get to it, but for now we need to work together to find him."

Huntress smirks.

"Fine with me, but how do we find the fat bastard?"

Nightwing then pulls out a device with a blinking red dot on it.

"I had Aaron put a tracker on our large friend." Dick says.

"Not bad. You really are just like him."

Nightwing smirks, and tells her to come on.

Later, Dick and Helena drive to the location in someone else's car.

"Where did the original Robin learn how

to hot wire a car?"

Dick smiles.

"The second Robin, actually."

Huntress smirks, as the two stay silent for a moment.

"Tell me about Mandragora. What did he do to make you want to kill him?"

Huntress turns towards the window, anger swelling up inside of her.

"You wouldn't understand."

"Wouldn't understand what? That he worked for your father, Franco Bertinelli? That your father was a mob boss? Or that Mandragora killed your father and your mother in cold blood."

Helena looks at Dick in pure shock.

"You knew?" She asks.

"I knew the moment I saw your face. I figured it was a sensitive subject, so I didn't bring it up, but I do know what happened."

Tears start falling down Helen's face as she quickly wipes them away.

"If you know- then you can probably guess what I'm gonna do to Mandragora, when we find him."

Nightwing doesn't say anything for a moment.

"My parents... they're deaths weren't an accident."

Huntress looks at him surprised.

"They were killed. By a man named Tony Zucco. After Batman took me in, I was- obsessed with finding Zucco and making him pay for what he took from me. When I came face to face with him... I almost killed him... I wanted to kill him. But that wasn't what my parents would have wanted. That's not the justice that they deserved."

Huntress sits in silence for a moment.

"Helena, I know exactly how you are feeling right now, believe me. But killing Mandragora will only make that feeling worse, and you'll cross a line that you can never fully come back from. Would your parents really want to be avenged, even if it meant you losing yourself in the process?"

Helena stares at Dick for a moment, thinking about what he said.

"The dead don't want anything. It's one of the benefits of being dead."

"Helena-"

"Just- drive." Helena demands.

Dick sighs, as they are silent through the rest of the car ride.

Later at the docks, Nightwing and Huntress hide on top of a roof. They both see Mandragora along with three other men.

"Mandragoras mine, you handle the grunts."

Nightwing reaches out for her as she already leaps into action.

"Helena!" He yells quietly.

Huntress jumps infront of Mandragora punches and kicks at him, but they bounces off of him. The three henchmen quickly pulls out they're guns, but Nightwing throws three wing dings to disarm them. He then jumps down, kicking one into the other and chops the last one in the back of the neck.

Huntress throws a kick at Mandragora but the criminal catches her leg and throws her into some boxes. As Mandragora approaches the fallen Huntress, Nightwing quickly gets his attention.

"Hey Wide load! Why don't you fight someone your own size, I'm pretty sure I can find a pickup truck somewhere around here!" Dick yells, angering Mandragora.

As Mandragora charges at Dick, The hero notices Huntress loading her crossbow, ready to shoot Mandragora in the back. Nightwing quickly somersaults to dodge Mandragora and throws a Wing ding, knocking the cross bow out of her hand.

"You Dick." Helena says out of anger.

Mandragora tries to smash Nightwing with heavy strikes, but Nightwing quickly avoids them, kicking him in the jaw and sending him stumbling back. Dick then quickly jumps on Mandragoras back and puts him in a choke hold. Mandragora smirks, then throws Nightwing off and into nearby crates.

"Hold it!" A voice yells.

Mandragora turns around and sees Huntress aiming her crossbow right at him.

"Unlike Nightwing, I don't mind lethal measures."

Mandragora stares for a moment, then smiles, putting his hands up in the air.

"Very well, back to federal custody I suppose."

Huntress scowls.

"Not this time."

Nightwing slowly gets to his feet.

"Wait Huntress! Don't do this!"

"Stop trying to stop me. This arrow is going straight through his skull."

"Is that really what you want? To be like him? To be a murderer?"

Huntress grits her teeth, as her hand starts to shake. Nightwing grabs her hand and the crossbow.

"It's not going to bring them back. Or make the hurt go away. Please, make the right call."

Huntress thinks to herself for a moment, finally shooting the arrow in the air, cutting a rop holding a crate up, dropping it on Mandragora, knocking him out. At that moment, Helena turns away, holding back tears as Dick comforts her.

Later Aaron and Cheif Ellen Yin, along with other police officers arrest Mandragora and his men. Nightwing and Huntress aren't there however, they are talking on a rooftop.

"How did you know?" Helena asks.

"Know what?" Dick replies.

"That I wouldn't kill Mandragora?"

Dick doesn't answer for a moment, then smiles at her.

"I didn't, really. I just had faith in you."

The two smile at each other for a moment, but Helena pulls away.

"So- what now?" Dick asks.

Helena sighs, then puts her hand on Dicks face.

"Look Grayson. I do like you, and the sex was fantastic. But you- deserve someone better. Someone who has that same light you have. But I'm not that person- and I'll probably never be."

Dick looks on in disappointment.

"Is there anything I can say to change your mind?" He asks.

Helena smiles.

"No, not really."

"Fantastic sex, huh?" Dick asks with a smirk."

Helena chuckles.

"Eh, eight outta ten. It has been awhile." She replies.

The chuckle and stare into each others eyes then share a passionate kiss goodbye. Helena then puts back on her mask and jumps off the roof while Dick stands on the rooftop alone, staring at the night sky.
