Relative Visit

The week seemed to speed by, despite the misfortunes at school and home. It can only be described as it is what it is. Which isn't the best or worst I guess.

Night life has been a delight. I jumped Sam and Daniel a couple of times. It's so fun to scare Daniel. Sam isn't as easy to scare cause he's always expecting my mischief. The brat.

Things with the East have been quiet. Peaceful even. It's getting close to a time where I will need to focus my time there. I really need to train those weaklings into fighters. Otherwise the East will never stand a chance in this war. You can't fight a war single handedly anyways. Well. I may be able to. Maybe.

Anyhow, as I said, the week has passed and today is the day Brett and his girlfriend and baby. I wish I could just go somewhere else. But no, no, no. Brett's coming so I have to be present. Dunno why. Just what is said.

I feel ill. I don't want to see him. I don't want to meet them.

I'm outside staring at nothing while leaning on a tree. Daydreaming about Night life and talking to myself aloud. I'm the best to talk to anyways.

Yeah...right. Lacking people to talk to does not equate being the best. Hell.

I hear the back door open abruptly. I clam up and lean around the tree to look at the house. Emily has come out and is walking towards me. Doesnt want to yell, I guess.

"What?" I say in a peevish tone. Like I don't know.

"Mom says to come in cause Brett'll be here in like 10 mins." Emily says.

She's unbothered by my tone. I get a little prickly sometimes but she knows I'll take care of her. I'm basically her real mom, dispite the barely two year age difference.

I huff a sigh and head towards the house with Emily. She's chirping bout how cute she thinks the baby will be. I make non committal sounds. She can interpret it as she pleases.

Since I have to be indoors, I may as well do a few.... Mom's vaccuming? Wow. What the hell.

"Ah, Ariella! Help me tidy up." Mom says. "Emily, you too."

I look around at our pretty much clean livingroom and tidy what she points at. Emily is pretending to help. Its pointless anyways. Brett is a slob. He won't notice a speck of dirt or untidiness.

After I no longer see anything out of place, I start to go to my room.

"Where are you going?" Mom holds me back verbally.

"To my room?" I look at her and say sarcastically.

"Um no. Your brother will be here any minute." She glares at me.

I hold in a sigh and go and sit on the couch. I cross my arms and glare at the tv. If I look pissy they may not talk to me. Emily is seated next to me.

"Its been 10 mins already," Emily complains. Huzzah the child can tell time. Mental eye roll.

I don't bother listening to whatever my mother says. Instead, I say, "With as stupid as he is, he probably got lost following the very simple directions."

My dad chuckles, hearing that. He clearly agrees. My mother gives a sigh full of grievances.

Close to an hour and two worried phone calls later they finally pull into the driveway in our Nanny's, grandmother's, jeep.

Emily runs outside and Mom holds the door open. Brett slides from the jeep and his girlfriend unwedges herself out of the passenger side. She then waddles around to the other side to get the baby out. I'm watching from the window.

I'm stunned in a way. I wasn't expecting someone quite as large as her. I idly wonder if she can even fit through our front door.

I blink my eyes not quite believing what I'm seeing. The woman is now holding their baby. He looks like that weirdo dinosaur that always says, 'Not the Mama!'

Good gods. Ah well. I feel nuetral looking at the kid. I don't hate him yet.

They're coming inside now. Brett looks at me and says "Bug!" My childhood name. Don't think, don't think.

He rushes around the table and gives me a hug that I don't reciprocate. I'm trying to have a blank expression. I'm trying to not show my disgust.

His girlfriend is introduced as she puts her stomache in the door at and angle towards the hinges, then she eases in and swings her body the other way to get her butt in the door. Her name is Candy apparently.

Vices be names nowadays I guess. I instantly feel guilty over the thought. I watch as my mom interacts with the baby for a moment. Brett then places the baby in my dad's unwilling lap.

He initially reacted negatively. "I said I don't want to hold the little fucker."

It took maybe a minute before he was making silly faces at the baby and tickling him. The baby's name is Tokin. Fucking idiots.

Atleast its not Antartquious. They wanted to give the very white baby a 'black name' because Candy is a quarter black. Can't tell except that her hair is black with tight wavy curls. Her skin is slightly colored, I guess.

I stare at her. I guess self esteem is probably why she is with Brett. Then again... I should give her q chance despite her... dubious taste in males.

She sets a large coach bag on the coffee table in front of me. I look at it blankly for a moment before looking towards the TV, but that was all it took. Candy's eyes lit up like the 4th of July and she bagan bragging about her name brand coach bag and how its her addiction and this bag costed her, like, $200.

She has a self proclaimed addiction to the bags. She has four of them, she says.

I could not care any less than I currently did. Which was the equivalent of a fart in a strong breeze, basically nonexistent.

I give oohs and aahs where its expected. I start to realize she enjoys talking about herself once she stopped about the coach bags and continued into random facts and stories about herself.

It's nearing dinner time and she's still going strong. Stopping only to snap at Brett to get her a drink, change the baby, or feed the baby.

He does so obediently. She doesn't seem very hands on with the kid. Even declining to hold the babe at one point.

I excuse myself and start preparing dinner. "Are they staying for dinner?" I whispered to my mother.

She interrupts Candy and asks them if they are staying for dinner. They pause then slowly say they were planning to. Mom suggests a trip to the store to get tonight's dinner option.

Emily, the traitor, says "Ooooh, Ariella makes a delicious pizza thats as thick as a lasagna- and its mostly toppings, not the crust!"

Candy's eyes go big. "Brett, lets take Ariella to the store for ingredients right now! Tokin is sleeping in his stroller anyways."

I don't want to go. "That's a great idea!" My nother praises.

Ugh. So we pile into the Jeep after Candy wedges herself out the door. Her belly is pressed against the dash even with the seat pushed back.

I have to give directions to the store. I don't know street names so it takes a bit longer than usual. I listen to Candy's chatter all the while. Collecting ingredients, double checking her preferences, and finally checking out- they paid.

She offered to get me a soda and I hesitantly agreed. She then suggested I pick out soda's for my parents and sister, too, so I do so.

Satisfied with her perchase we head back to my house. Brett continually glanced at me.

When we arrived back at the house, Candy left Brett and I to get the groceries and she headed back inside.

"What do you think of Candy?" Brett suddenly asks, studying my face.

I shrug and say "She seems nice, I guess. I don't know her well."

"I'm planning on askimg her to marry me." Brett says. "I wanted your approval."

"Why?" I looked at him blankly and start walking to the door with groceries. I noted his expression was off... disappointed?

I shudder internally. He doesnt answer the question, just follows behind me after shutting the trunk.

"Where do you want these?" He asks once we're inside.

"Counter." I point. I put up the stuff I was originally going to make and pull down a mixing bowl, frying pan, and baking pan. Along with the necessary utensils.

I prepped the dough in silence. Noticing Brett's eyes gazing towards me often. I try to ignore it. With the dough resting I start making the sauce.

A sauce can make or break a pizza, I believe. I make it with ground beef and finely chopped onions and my own seasonings and tomato sauce. I'm basically a damn good chef. Yeah.

When the sauce is ready I spread the dough on the baking pan. I make sure it goes up the sides of the pan as well. Then I spoon in the sauce and give it a swirl to coat the dough evenly. Next comes the fiesta blend shredded cheese. Best part, I'd say. Lastly is the pepperoni and my personal mvp mushrooms. X2, cause of guests.

I love a mushroomy pizza. Mmm. With the pizza put together, I popped it in the oven for a bit to cook the dough.

Honestly, I really like my pan pizzas. I could eat as much of it as I can white rice. Which is more than I normally eat in a day. I feel my stomach rummble as the house begins to smell delicious.

As soon as it's ready I cut squares into it with a knife. I give Candy, Brett, Dad, and Emily huge pieces. Mom and I have a smaller piece. I'm glad I made two.

Candy, Brett and Dad have seconds. Emily is contemplating seconds. She hasn't decided yet.

I'm stuffed for sure.

Soon after dinner it's time for them to go. I give a forced smile as we say our good byes and hugs are doled out.

"I always wanted a big sister," I say without thinking.

"Big sister?" Candy asks. Her eyes tear up and she hugs me tightly. She feels accepted into the family. She seems happy.

I feel nothing. Idly, I wonder why I said that. It is true... I guess. But I don't want to count her...

After they get in the jeep and leave. We go inside. Emily and mom are chatting happily. I clean up the mess and put up the leftovers.

I then go to my room and get ready to go to sleep. I'm mentally exhausted from the encounter.

Laying down, it doesnt take long for me to drift into a nightmare filled sleep.

In it, Brett is over me. Pinning me. He leans down and kisses my lips lightly. I grimace at his nasty breath. Then comes the pain between my legs and the sick feeling that spreads from my abdomin to stomache as I cry.

I awake at midnight feeling ill with tears on my face. The nightmare was exactly as I recall that incident. Damnit. I leave the house swiftly, not caring if I make noise. I barely remember to change my appearance. I shift to wolf and charge through trees and foliage. I don't care where I'm going. I don't know where I'm heading.

I catch sight of a snowy wolf pelt and flash past it. I can't see Papa right now. Not with those memories chasing me, dogging my heart.

I release a waily howl that causes the animals to go quiet and still. When I am to tired to go further I let myself collapse.

Panting, I curl into a ball. I'm under a bush, thankfully. Though, I suppose it didn't matter.

As I caught my breath, someone grabbed my tail and yanked me from under the bush.

"Hey guys, look. A puppy." The man snears. His fangs flash in the moonlight as his friends approach.

Vampires looking for a puppy feast.

I whip my body about like a snake, almost dislocating my tail. Very painful if you don't know. I grip the man's wrist with my teeth, snarling and shaking my head.

His wrist in tatters, he drops me. I turn my body and land on my feet like a cat. Baring my teeth I let out a blood curdling growl.

They were intimidated for sure. But dude bravado means they couldn't bitch down to a puppy in front of their friends.

A foot flew at my body, I dodged easily. Just as I was about to aim for the throat of the closest moron Sam and Daniel appeared.

They swiftly dispatched the filth. "I had it under control" I growled.

"Of course you did, Baby." Daniel coos in a gentle voice.

"What's hurting you, Sweetling?" Sam inquires.

I shift to my Night self's human form and don't give a reply. I just look at them miserably.

Daniel gives me a hug and rubs my back lightly. They know I'm in no mood to talk or play. Maybe they thought I'd cry more.

"We should be allowed to kill humans who bother us." I say after a long silence.

"Fuck humans." They agree. I don't feel placated at all.

Soon, too soon, its close to 5. Sam and Daniel lead me to familiar areas before leaving. I sluggishly head towards home.

In my Day form once home, I barely made it on time. I curl up in my bed and try to sleep again. It turned light out before I could.
