Chapter 29:- Kobold Nest [II]

Illusion of Heaven!

Rosie had the class of Succubus Enchantress. It wouldn't be wrong to say that illusion is one of her main and strongest points. Just like Laura, the empress's mother also had awakened two star-blaze. One of her star blazes was wood manipulation which was an Epic tier skill. Though William has never seen her use Wood Manipulation.

Using the illusion of Heaven, both William and Rosie turned invisible. Both quietly sneaked inside the cave.

At first, they were assuming the cave to be narrow and small but to their surprise, the cave was 3 meters tall and 4 meters wide. William and Rosie had no problem walking together.

"I meant to ask you. Because of the curse, you cannot level up so what will happen to the souls of the monsters that you will kill?"

"Even though I cannot level up, no one said that I cannot obtain the souls of living beings." William stopped walking and looked at Rosie in surprise. "Make no mistake. There is a difference between absorbing the soul and obtaining the soul. Till the curse breaks, all living beings' souls that I killed will be stored and only to later us those souls to make my soul even purer."

The path was going downwards. William and Rosie walked for 4 minutes. They walked slowly and with caution. As they went deeper down the path started expanding in size. The walls were painted with some strange creatures. The cave was lit with a special stone that glowed in white light.

"We are almost 25 meters below the surface. This lair feels more like a dungeon." Normal Kobolds don't have that high intelligence to build something like this. As a former adventurer, Rosie was finding this whole Kobold lair more and more disturbing.

"Did something happen?" Will asked seeing the serious look on her. When Rosie was serious, just like her daughter, her face also looked cold.

"Though Kobold has a talent for digging, mining, building traps, or preparing for ambushes, a normal Kobold does not have enough intelligence to build something like this. A normal kobold could never kind of use these stones to light their cave."

"So What are you saying?" William was starting to get a bad feeling from this.

"There is a high chance that this Kobold nest is being ruled by a Mutant Kobold also known as High Kobold King."

"Kobolds were also known for serving dragons, especially the evil dragons and praising them as gods. A kobold tribe would present a dragon with tributes and sacrifices and whatever they thought it may like; they might have even seen it as a great honor to be devoured by the creature. I fear that this Kobold nest has produced a Mutant Kobold that has managed to awaken the impure bloodline of an evil dragon."

"Really? Do you think we can take down the High Kobold King?" William strangely looked excited. This mission was starting to get exciting. This was the thrill of being an adventurer.

"If the High Kobold King is above level 60, then we would have less than 40% chances of defeating him."

For William and Rosie stopped walking and silently looked at each other. Continuing this mission would only danger their lives. Not to mention this mission was clearly a gold tier mission. The appearance of the Hight Kobold King was enough to push this mission's difficulty to the gold rank.

William closed his eyes and thought for a moment. Rosie let William do the thinking as she wanted him to gain experience as an adventurer and learn to make decisions. She would only stop William if she see William taking the wrong path.

William looked at Rosie. His eyes fell on the green status bar above her head. Rosie was confused seeing him smile suddenly. "Rosie, I remembered that you have a skill called Poison Bomb which was level 9."

"Yes, I have that skill."

"How powerful is that skill?"

"With my decrease in levels, my stats also have decreased. Using a level 9 passive skill to its full power would be impossible for me but using all of my current Mana, I can create a poison that can knock out every kobold below level 50. Not just that the poison would also affect the high kobold king and reduces its agility by 30%."

"The only problem is we don't know just how big this nest is. Since there is a High Kobold King in the nest, I can estimate that the entire nest is almost 70 meters big. My estimation might be even wrong. Also right after using this skill, I would instantly lose all of my mana, meaning that I will be knocked unconscious." This is why Rosie hesitated from using this skill of hers. Her low mana was holding her back from using her passive skills to their full strength.

William thought of something for an entire minute before putting his right hand on Rosie's right shoulder. "I have a plan."

Almost 60 meters below the surface, what looked like an ordinary small mountain was actually a huge kobold nest that was being led by a mutant kobold that had managed to awaken the impure dragon bloodline. Everyone kobold recognized the High Kobold King as their ruler and listened to every word that their king said to them.

Today was a very important day for the kobold nest. Every kobold, whether children or elders, gathered in an underground hall that had a statue of a dragon. The underground hall was big as a football stadium. The whole hall was lit with white light.

Kobold! [Bring the sacrifice]

With the order of the Kobold king, two 2 meters of big wolves were being dragged by ten kobolds toward the huge statue of the black dragon. The statue of the black dragon was about 15 meters big. In front of the dragon, every Kobold was kneeling and praying to the Evil Dragon God.

In front of all the Kobolds, there was a Kobold with red pair of wings and orange color scales covering its arms and chest. The Kobold looked different from the other kobolds. Its height was 2 meters tall, it had dark red Crimson eyes.

The kobold was wearing wolf skin to cover its lower part. Compared to other kobolds, he looked more stronger and muscular. This was the king of the kobold nest.

More than 5 years ago, two kobolds, one female and one male fled from the kobold nest that was destroyed by the adventurers. The two kobolds found this cave and decided to build a new nest here. Two weeks later, the female kobold gave birth to two children. One male and one female. And from then the kobold population rapidly increased. The strongest ones went out to went while the weaker ones including the females worked on making their nests bigger.

Now the population of this nest had broken the 500 mark, making this nest one of the biggest nests to have appeared in the Sithen Empire in the last 5 years. Due to a small incident, almost half of the kobolds were killed one year ago. It was the kobold's fortune that a High Kobold King was born in their nest to lead them.

The wolves could not struggle as their bodies has been tied with a rope. After the wolves were dragged right in front of the huge dragon statue, one of the kobolds came with a 1-meter-long steel sword and handed it to the Kobold king.

"How does this kobold nest has man-made weapons and armors?" William whispered while looking at the Kobold King.

"I don't know but probably some greedy merchant gave them weapons and armors in exchange for the metals that the kobolds mined. Since Kobolds were naturally miners and diggers, they could sense if there are any precious metals in the nearby area. All the glowing stones that the kobolds used to light their nest were probably mined as well."

"That's a unique ability."

"It is said that kobold mining skills are on the same rank as the dwarves mining skill. While dwarves have low birth rates, it only takes 2 weeks for a female kobold to lay two eggs." Currently, Rosie and William was hiding in a secret place.

Both of them were hiding in a tree root. To save mana for the fight, William created a 1.5-meter wide root, barely enough for both of them to fit inside.

"That's because this is your first time using this skill. It took me years of practice and training before I was able to reduce the high mana consumption of using wood manipulation." William also nodded. He needed to train in wood Manipulation. He felt he was wasting 90% of his mana when he was using wood manipulation skills.
