Chapter 6

...

Returning to the surface he gave the group a childlike tale of what happened below, how he saw the door already open enough to allow him through, how it seemed to malfunction when he took the mask and nearly crushed him to death. They seemed to somewhat believe the boy, yet they remained skeptical. Neither of them had been mindful of the door during their infiltration and couldn't truly rebuke the child's words.

Giving them the mask and delving back to check the door itself to see it in disrepair seemed to validate the boy's explanation. With help from his fellow teammates and equipment scattered around the cavern, O'Reilly and his squad were able to force the door wide enough after nearly two hours of strenuous labor to crawl through for themselves to see the wealth and sarcophogus inside.

As a precaution they wedged sturdy machinery and had the rest of his unit on standby outside to buy time for them to get out in case the heavy gate gave under its wait and potentialu shut them in. That way, in the worst scenario the ones outside could contact their allies for eventual assistance.

The laughter and excitement he heard from the leader and his fellow sergeant Sokolov at finding such wealth was comical to say the least.

Returning to the surface they examined the bio-mask and all decided it was best to report the finding to HQ and keep it with Johnston who had the only pack large enough to carry it on foot for the time being.

Throughout the rest of the night all was uncomfortably quiet....no gorilla fighters...no Stargazer reinforcements...no predator...just silence.

By the time they continued on to the coordinates of their extraction detail the far away sounds of conflict and gun fire had all ceased since the sun rose. But isaac knew something was watching them...there had to be...

{T'zayi pov}

...

Kneeling upon a sturdy branch atop the high echelon of an aged sapling the huntress watched her four unaware prey below guide the lost pup she had seen no more than a day before wandering her hunting ground through the wilderness.

For a full week she had followed and watched the ooman warriors cut down dozens of enemies in this region and deemed them worthy to test her new weapons and capabilities. It had only been a mere year of finally achieving her blooded status and now...she was free to hunt alone. No longer having to put up with the pesky males of her clan who saw her as nothing but a mere birthing machine.

In the end she proved her worth by killing a kainde amedha (hard meat or Xenomorph) and took its skull as her prize! And she would do so again here by killing the best warriors this planet has to offer, such as these 'special forces' who were led by the most notable champion of their kind. 'Dutch Schaefer...'

To the warrior's annoyance the aged ooman male was difficult to locate.

He and these five were not the first she hunted and it would not be the last. She hoped and believed if her blade cut down enough of them that their champion would show himself.

Leaping towards another tree the female continued to follow for an hour, her anticipation barely being held back by her years of emotional discipline. Then it happened, foes from within their blade spinning craft flew down to intercept her prey, the prospect of losing her hard earned challenge enraged the huntress to the point of being forced to kill any she could silence without risking her element of surprise.

Stargazer...that was the name of this supposed clan of dishonorable ooman kin who attempted many times to capture her and others of her kind into their 'custody' alive. Those who were had been deemed unworthy of rescue by the elders of her and other local clans, simply remote activated the self destruction sequence in their gauntlets to 'restore their honor.'

Everytime T'zayi heard that excuse she wanted to huff in irritation at the repetitive statement. What was so honorable about killing another at distance or one's self and potentially killing other innocent creatures that had no reason to die in the first place!

One such male detonated his own in a small ooman settlement! Pups, sires, matron...so many needless deaths.

To make matters worse it garnered more resentment and vigilance from the higher powers of their society, making trips and potential hunts all the more difficult. Even the technology they took from her kin bolstered their technological capabilities.

Sensors able to detect their craft entering the planet's atmosphere, more effective weapons, even destructive projectiles and missiles powerful enough to break through their vessel's shields and hulls. It was fortuitous the last was not in high production.

*Shlick!* "Aalgk!"

Running her blades through the back of the last of the pests she turned her attention to the five soldiers who had finally noticed her presence and opened fire. In a blitz of speed she leaped into the trees above to avoid their 'primitive,' but effective weaponry.

Hissing in pain her head snapped in the direction of her leg to see a few rounds had gone through her calve and thigh.

Peering back down, the huntress quickly locked her gaze with one of the few females among their group staring back with its unusual head wear. Jumping to another branch in time to dodge another volley of gunfire to quickly fire at her offenders in the form of more outsiders to which she responded in kind by blowing them to bits with her plasma caster.

By this point in time she had foregone her attempts at stealth and proceeded to take the initiative in this skirmish.

Dropping down to finish the pests she quickly turned to her original targets and ran behind any cover or human made structure she could manage to use to her advantage to draw closer to their formation.

Isaac felt extremely on edge as he watched the five soldiers fight off both the gorilla fighters, Stargazer reinforcements and the female yautja simultaneously. Yes...female, she stood taller than the male version of her species at a height of 9 feet tall with dark grey hide. Whoever she was they were skilled and knowledgeable of human behavior and technology as she predicted their aim and sped fast enough around to avoid a garenteed hit.

'Shiiiiiit~! Why couldn't you just target someone else!? And a female of all things!' Isaac whined as he covered his ears from the bundle of gun fire less than a foot near his small form as the elite squad encircled him to provide a means of cover.

'Why are you all standing around, we should be running!' He berated mentally. Without hesitation the boy took off in the opposite direction of the conflict and brought up the system in order to run. The mask may have been a loss but the plasma caster, combi-stick and disk were more than enough for one adventure...

'Sorry guys you're on your own!'

...

"Oh, come on!" Isaac whined as he reached through a pixelated portal only for his hand to return with a blood red and black double barrel tech shotgun picked up from one of the dead maelstrom corpses.

*Click-chak!*

Opening the back chambers of the weapon he quickly retrieved shells from his inventory to reload it and waited for an opprotune time to strike. Unfortunately....due to his smaller size he needed to slowly load each round into both chambers one by one with great difficulty.

Isaac was more than confident that the weapon could seriously harm the predator. If a tech shotgun can easily punch through ncpd cars that are were reinforced with metal material stronger than anything these people had in today's society then it can punch through a 9 foot wall of muscle in a metal bra and leather loincloth.

So far the team was doing a wondrous job staying alive even as the cunning alien popped out of the blue in opportune times to strike. It sure wasn't wasting time in toying around like most other yautja he'd seen in the films. Maybe females were just more inherently intelligent and tactful...

*Ch-chick!*

*Bzzzzzz*

*Boom!*

Using one of the many trees surrounding them all Isaac fired a chaotic blast of charged buckshot towards the female who had been in the midst of running its wrist blades through the back of an reloading Hernández. Predictably the huntress dodged out of the way and dropped the veteran onto the muddy ground, it seemed the predator hadn't expected him to be capable of participating in the fight.

To his satisfaction a few bullets within the spread managed to land and shred into the woman's arm and hip, causing the brutish creature to stagger as immense amounts of blood spewed and trail behind her constantly mobile visage.

Paying no mind to the notifications he sprinted to the critically injured woman. By the time he was by her side blood was already beginning to gush from the wounds upon her stomach as she choked out lung filled coughs of blood.

'Shit, shit, shit!' His hand quickly delved into his inventory leaving the woman to look on with wide pained eyes at the phenomenon. In less than a second his smaller fist returned with a maxdoc inhaler and a bounce back injector he had taken from the bathroom cupboard. 'Haaa...Mom is going to be so mad...'

Without hesitation he jammed the hypo into her chest and injected the regen excellerant. Already he could hear her wounds mending themselves slowly as her breathing became more tolerant as she looked to the hypo with astonishment at such a medical aid. Quickly he next put the end of the inhaler to the snipers lips who by now seemed to understand his intentions and gave a affirming nod. Pressing down on the top switch she willingly took in the fumes and watched as her wounds healed faster than before, not completely, but to a point where both exit sites had been sealed.

*Cough!* "you...have...a lot to explain, pequeño mentiroso..."

Rolling his eyes at the lady's attempt at a thank you he reloaded his weapon as she painfully sat up.

"Are you good with a shotgun, mama Lora?" Isaac teased as the marksman smiled under her mask with a fascinated look towards his weapon.

"Oh, niño...I'm good with just about anyth-"

"Ghulk!" Without a chance to for both of them to react a large hand gripped the weapon and pulled it out of his grasp as another wrapped around his throat and lifted him off his feet while Hernández herself was kicked away.

The yautja herself let out a growl from the depths of her throat as isaac struggled in her grip trying to see if his ally was allright.

In a burst of inhuman agility the yautja ran off with the boy leaving the still somewhat injured and exausted southern american to look on in worry and pain as she called out in vain.

'Shit...'
