Siege

The spell "Lesser fireball" was a very common spell amongst apprentice-level mages. And it was also very suitable to be used in this kind of war, as this spell could deal with a group of enemy's ordinary elite soldiers with a single attack.

And now, the apprentice-level mages from Punk's side joined hands and cast more than ten such spells at the same time. A dozen fireballs burning with blazing flames flew toward the professional carrying siege ladders. Those ladders had various runes drawn on them.

However, when the fireball approached near the target, the enemy's mages took action and also cast the same spell. At the apprentice level, using offensive spells to counter the enemy's offensive spells was the usual defensive method.

Punk saw as multiple fireballs came flying from behind the enemy's formation. And almost all of the fireballs from his own side were hit accurately by them mid-air. After that, a group of huge fiery clouds lighten up the whole sky, even though it was daytime. Then the leftover scattered spell residues rained on the battlefield. This rain of fire hit many enemy soldiers. The flames, which still had a little bit of mana left, could not be extinguished by ordinary soldiers, and it continued to burn on their bodies. It also had a very high temperature of nearly a thousand degrees, and only a few seconds after the flames touched the soldier's iron armour, the armours became bright red. The soldiers ran wildly and screamed miserably while their skin and flesh inside the armour made a sizzling sound. Very quickly, all of them died, and their bodies fell on the ground, and a fishy smell of burned meat was exuding from them.

However, the enemy's professionals were completely unharmed; the residual flames alone could not break through their battle Qi defence. They ignored the burning soldiers' painful screams and rushed toward the city wall with an unswerving roar.

The enemies also cast multiple fireballs, and the defending mages quickly intercepted them. But due to their large number, some fireballs successfully hit the city wall. A large number of broken stones and woods were blasted into the sky, along with some charred stumps of flesh. But overall, it caused more damage to the enemy as all of them gathered near the wall. Because of it, the enemy army's unified and orderly formation was disrupted. There were many small fires was burning throughout the battlefield, and because of it, the temperature around the battlefield rose over 40 degrees, and the heated air was creating a distorted image of the whole battlefield. Despite all this, the enemy soldiers did not lose their morale; instead, they became more crazy and bloodthirsty!

Because, all of them knew that the current situation would end very soon.

The siege ladders had already been placed on the sturdy but short walls of Konola City. Some warriors tried to chop the ladder, but the flashing runes on the sturdy ladder rendered the apprentice-level warrior's attacks futile. Even trainee-level fighters could only make some deep nicks on the ladder!

"Alchemy ladder! Prince William seems to have been funded by the king!"

Punk frowned slightly. This kind of alchemy ladder might be low-level and simple in principle, but it could create a massive advantage in warfare between the ordinary army. And it also had a very high cost.

In the Pheren plane, where the numbers of alchemical items and professionals were the measure of a kingdom's strength, even if someone had such equipment, they would keep it hidden as a trump card and would not use it in unimportant battles. Only an empire, whose strength was dozens of times stronger than a kingdom, could use those casually.

"It seems that the enemy doesn't want to let the princess go at any cost!"

Punk now also discovered that the enemy seemed to have only brought light equipment like magic ladders. Undoubtedly, it was to speed up the pursuit. Which means they didn't bring any siege......

  "Boom!"

A loud noise came from the south of the city wall!

...

  A few seconds ago-

Seeing that mage McNeesey ignored him and was about to cast a strong spell, the commander in chief Lunka face became red with anger; he stood up from his seat and rushed toward the city wall, and at the same time, roared loudly:

" McNeesey, in your dreams."

Facing commender Lunka's charge, mage McNeesey, who wanted to cast a spell to destroy all the alchemy ladders in one fell swoop, had to interrupt his casting to deal with Lunka's war hammer, which was already close to himself.

...

Punk only heard an earth-shattering roar. And after that, a large number of stones, which were originally a part of the city wall, started to fell from the sky. Every larger stone that fell from on the battlefield mashed a large group of ordinary soldiers and created potholes filled with flesh and blood all over the battlefield.

Of course, many boulders were also thrown inside the city. In Punk's view, many houses and shops that were intact a few moments ago now had turned into rubbles and shredded wood chips under the showers of stones. The original prosperous Konola City was now filled with devastated and mournful cries of ordinary citizens.

But Punk paid more attention to the battle on the other side of the city wall. The southern side of the wall seemed like it was being bombed by an intercontinental missile.

And due to such fierce confrontation between two official-level powerhouses, most of the city wall in that part has collapsed, and the gap was still expanding.

As both official-level powerhouses were fighting with all of their strength, their actions were so fast that even Punk could hardly perceive it. To him, it seemed like Mage McNeesey was trying his best to prevent Lunka from destroying the city wall.

However, although the city wall had a massive hole, still no one, not even the fearless warriors, dared to cross it as it was now the battlefield of two official-level powerhouses.

Feeling the constant vibration from the ground and the city walls beneath his feet, Punk shook his head.

"Now, I should take care of my own business!"

  ...

The trainee-level spell "Firey domain" was relatively unpopular. And it had such low lethality that it could hardly be called a trainee level spell. Its effect was to create an extensive heat zone of about 500 degrees. And for trainee-level professionals, it could only cause some discomfort, nothing else.

This spell was explicitly designed to be used in ordinary people's wars. And trainee-level mages generally studied it as an academic reference, but today, this useless spell was about to show its hideous and terrifying side.

An inconspicuous orange-yellow ring of fire was created on the battlefield by Punk. The battlefield, which was filled with small and large flames, this small ring of fire was very unremarkable. The enemy soldiers were hurriedly climbing up the alchemy ladders while also stepping on their companion's corpses without any reluctance.

In just one second, the orange-red ring of fire enlarged to an area of about three basketball courts, and the temperature inside the ring of fire rose quickly. In just a few seconds, the temperature of that area was heated to about four hundred degrees. At such a temperature, the rocks on the ground began to become red, and large cracks started to appear on them.

The soldiers started to sweat profusely, but before it could flow out, it boiled in their skin. And every time they breathed the air, they felt like they were sucking lava into their lungs. Every inch of their skin began to carbonize, and oil started to drip from their bodies, just like a roasted goose in a microwave oven. In less than a minute, the screaming and convulsing enemy soldiers inside the ring of fire were burnt entirely, and they became like a black mummy.

There was no such thing as humanitarianism in this new world. Some of Punk's ruthless teammates even shouted their approval after seeing this horrific scene.

Of course, some rookies who had never seen the cruelty of war also began to tremble and vomit violently.

"Maybe this will make these rookies wake up from their naive heroic dreams! Consider this as this senior's earnest teaching."

Punk smiled and whistled briskly.

"The first wave of soldiers is cleared... this might also let these annoying flies with sky-high morale know what the sentence "grinding bones and pulling out tendons" means!

Punk thought lightheartedly while looking at the carbonized bodies wearing red armours.
