NECRO-Driver Dawn EP 39: Serenity Through Sacrifice

Narrator: Zen has been sealed away, at least temporarily. With only a limited amount of time before Zen's return, time is running out for our heroes. But with the toll of the war already so great, and the sacrifices so abundant, it'd be hard for anyone to continue. But as it has been the case before, time will reveal the cards at play. Capt. Maeko: Good, you're all back. Let me be the first to say how much we appreciate everything you all have done for us. Were it not for you, the world would've been gone by now. I know that there's been a lot of hardship, and the world has been fought over so much. But if the world is to be at stake, then you all are who I'd rather be fighting for it with. 

Alex: Heh, don't forget about yourself there captain.

Zach: He's right. Your outstanding leadership throughout everything has been invaluable. We couldn't have done it without you either.

Kira: Yeah! We're all in this together, no matter what.

Janna: It's nice to see you all keeping faith, even after everything that's happened. 

Sona: A true testament to how strong you all are.

Baron Hampton: And let's not forget about the support we've received from all over the world as well.

Ayumi: At first, it really seemed like the people didn't like us. But now, the whole world is against the Principality!

Master Tazz: But we're running out of time. The longer this drags on, the less likely our chances of winning.

Khan: We need to end this war now.

Sonjo: Hey, where's Jin?

*They see Jin sitting in a corner of the room with Roux, watching over her body. Time and space seem to move differently, as if he were in a different reality entirely. He's pulled out of his thoughts by the feel of a hand on his shoulder…*

Jin: Fadra…

Fadra: I know how you feel Jin. 

Jin: It's my fault. I couldn't keep her safe.

Fadra: What?

Jin: If I hadn't left you all… If I hadn't tried to take the Principality on my own… 

Fadra: It wasn't your fault Jin. The Principality did this, not you. My sister's blood is on their hands, not yours.

Jin: I'm sorry.

*He's stopped in his tracks as Fadra goes in to hug him*

Fadra: My sister thought the world of you Jin. I know she was never good at showing it, but she cared deeply for you Jin. She wouldn't want either of us to let her death get us down. She'd want us to keep moving forward, to forge the life that we want. Well, that and get some revenge on her behalf. She may be gone physically, but she'll never be gone from us spiritually. She'll live on in our memories, and our hearts. 

Jin: You're right… our hearts are like a second home. She'll always be with us. Forever on our minds, always in our hearts.

Rin: A touching sentiment, though hardly necessary.

(Stop playing the song) *They're all surprised to see Rin*

Jin: Rin?

Khan: What're you doing here?

Rin: I saw everything that happened, I came here as fast as I could.

Alex: And you came here to mock her death?

Rin: Nope, I came here to laugh at you.

Baron Hampton: OOOOF!

Rin: Actually, I'm here at the request of Baron and Ayumi.

Baron Hampton: Yeah, we invited her onboard. I hope that doesn't cause any problems.

Ayumi: We figured she could help us out.

Capt. Maeko: I see, then you're welcome here. You'll find no judgment from any of us.

Khan: Except maybe from Sonjo, since he's a hater.

Sonjo: Oh har har!

Rin: First, let me say I'm sorry about what happened to Roux. I never knew her well, but we do share a bond over Project VP. What they did is unforgivable, and disgust me. 

Jin: On that, we can all agree.

Rin: Second, I came here to help.

Zach: Help how?

Rin: Jin, do you remember what I told you about Roux and Skia'?

Sonjo: Skia'?

Jin: Yeah I remember, what about it?

Rin: Well if I'm not mistaken, then that holds the key to bringing Roux back.

Jin: Bring her back? How?

Khan: But wait, that shouldn't be possible. Jin gave part of his heart to Roux to save her life way back then right?

Sonjo: So if Roux's dead, wouldn't that mean that his half would go back to him?

Rin: Very good, you both don't miss a thing. Yes, that's true. Originally, half of Jin's heart did reside in Roux. As I'm sure you all know, Roux and I are both survivors of the infamous project VP. Now, I know this next part will be difficult to follow, but try to stay with me here.

Alex: Okay…

Rin: Somewhere down the line, the half of Jin's heart that Roux got was split into two. Roux kept one part, and the other ended up in someone else.

Jin: Skia'...

Rin: Exactly. So, here's what I'm thinking. As far as any of us knows, this Skia' -

Sonjo: It's just Skia', not "this Skia'". 

Rin: Apologies. "This Skia'", is she still alive?

Kira: As far as any of us knows, she should be. We don't know what happened to her.

Sonjo: Hang on, so if Skia' really IS connected to Jin, shouldn't he be able to know if she's alive or not?

Jin: It doesn't work like that, Sonjo.

Sonjo: And how do you know it doesn't? For all I know, you've been hiding this information from us this whole time!

Jin: One, I found out about most of this the exact same day y'all did. Two, I'm finding out this new stuff at the exact same time that we all are!

Khan: Yeah bro. I understand and respect your willingness to defend Skia', but you've really gotta get a hold of yourself. No one here is out for blood against her… for the most part.

Master Tazz: You were saying Rin?

Rin: Jin, what happened to you when Roux died? Did you feel any different?

Jin: Come to think of it, I did. I felt like I was carrying more than just my own heart inside me again. I also felt a power that wasn't my own.

Ayumi: That would explain why your aura had a much darker color to it than normal. It must've been Roux's power!

Khan: And why you could use void perception.

Rin: Exactly. Jin took on Roux's power when she died, and let's assume it didn't kill Skia'. Therefore, it stands to reason that if we can retrieve Roux's spirit, we can bring her back to life!

Capt. Maeko: And you thought of all of this just now?

Rin: I had some time along the way.

Fadra: Is it true? Can you really bring my sister back?

Rin: If we can find a way to do it, it's very possible.

Ayumi: There is a way actually. I can bring her back.
