Chapter 286: Minato Almost Died!

The moment Namikaze Minato was flung through the air, Reiki vanished along with him to ensure he'd be okay.

"Did I hit too hard, Obito?" Kushina looked at her fist, half concerned and half surprised by her own strength.

Obito swallowed nervously. "N-No, sensei is really tough. Master, you can hit him like that anytime." He paused, eyes darting around. "Should I go check on him?"

Kushina's punch had been so swift that Obito's Sharingan had activated unconsciously, yet he still couldn't track her movement. By the time he registered it, Minato was already gone.

"It's fine, just some broken bones. He'll be okay soon," Reiki said, appearing back in the courtyard with Minato over his shoulder, accompanied by a shadow clone. He offered what he considered reassuring news: "Just over a hundred fractures."

Kushina's eyes widened as she glanced at the unconscious Minato. "Over a hundred bones? That's... not a small number."

Reiki smiled. "I'll treat him right now. Let's talk after."

With that, Reiki began the meticulous process of healing Minato's broken bones, enjoying the chance to gain valuable experience from such a severe injury.

More than an hour later, Minato's injuries were fully healed. The Hokage candidate sat up, looking a bit sheepish.

"Next time, let's try a different type of experiment," Minato said with a nervous chuckle. "Maybe some actual combat training where I'm allowed to defend myself. Standing still and taking a punch like that isn't safe."

He hadn't even had time to raise a kunai before being overwhelmed by Kushina's Nine-Tails-enhanced chakra. If not for Reiki's skills, he might have been in the hospital for weeks.

Kushina nodded, releasing her tailed beast form. The transformation consumed chakra and physical energy, and as this was her first time using it, it had been especially draining.

"Sister Kushina, Minato-san, you should report this to the Hokage as soon as possible," Reiki advised. "Tell him that you can now control the Nine-Tails. And..."

Reiki handed Kushina a small notebook.

Kushina flipped through it, a look of disgust spreading across her face. The pages were filled with flattering words about Sarutobi Hiruzen, complete with detailed compliments tied to real events.

"Reiki, is this necessary?" Kushina asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Absolutely," Reiki said. "You two are top-notch ninjas upholding the Will of Fire in this village. Minato is renowned as the strongest of his generation and a relentless mission achiever, while you, Sister Kushina, now have the power of the Nine-Tails, which boosts your status significantly."

"Basically, we need to praise the Third Hokage?" Kushina said with a sigh.

"Exactly," Reiki confirmed. "Just make sure to highlight your commitment to the village and the Will of Fire."

Kushina looked at Minato, who shrugged. "I don't know if it's necessary, but it won't hurt to try."

"Alright, let's give it a go. I already memorized the notes." Kushina gave a confident smile. "I'm a top student, after all, and with the Nine-Tails' power, my memory is even sharper."

The pair left the courtyard, discussing their approach.

"Boss Reiki, I feel like one day Sensei is going to get beaten to death by Kushina," Obito said, exhaling deeply. "She's so cute usually, but when she's angry…"

Reiki snorted. "You're not wrong. Let's hope she doesn't turn into the Nine-Tails every time they argue."

"True..." Obito said, eyes wide with realization. He held a moment of silence for his teacher. "Okay, Boss, what do you need from me?"

"I need to check your Sharingan. Come and sit down," Reiki instructed.

Obito sat, his eyes already active and glowing with the Sharingan's distinctive crimson.

Reiki placed his hands on Obito's forehead, allowing his energy to flow into the boy's eyes. After ten minutes, Reiki withdrew, a puzzled expression on his face.

"Still nothing," Reiki muttered. He had assumed that Obito's unique awakening of the Sharingan under extreme emotional distress would show some abnormal energy. But there was none.

"Is there something wrong with my eyes, Boss?" Obito asked.

"No, they're perfectly healthy," Reiki assured him. "By the way, I think Rin should train with Tsunade to learn the strength-enhancing techniques. It would help her protect herself better during missions."

"Rin? Learning that?" Obito's eyes widened as he imagined the scenario. A powerful Rin using Tsunade's signature technique... just like Kushina with the Nine-Tails' power. "I'm... going home now."

Obito ran off, the thought of a super-strong Rin sparking a mix of excitement and fear.

Reiki chuckled as he watched him leave. "Obito really is such a dork right now."

Half an hour later, Minato and Kushina arrived at the Hokage's office, ready to announce their news and put their plan into action.
