Chapter 68: Slipping Away Quietly

Fujiki lay on the hospital bed, his body paralyzed by the toxin. Despite his condition, he could hear Chiba's words.

"Fujiki, don't be afraid, just run away!" Chiba's words reached him.

And so, Fujiki made his decision. He suddenly became thin and vanished into thin air, leaving behind a cloud of smoke.

Tsunade, who was outside the window, witnessed this miraculous sight and her eyes widened in surprise. The toxin that had plagued Fujiki was now leaving his body.

In the midst of the commotion, Mitokado Homura arrived in the ward, his face filled with excitement. He ignored the unpleasant smell in the room and pulled out a scroll.

A burst of smoke emerged from the scroll, revealing a large wooden barrel. Homura called out to Tsunade through the window, beckoning her to come closer.

Understanding the situation, Tsunade summoned her Water Style and used her Bath Water Technique to help cleanse Fujiki's body. Chiba stood in the ward, watching as Homura vigorously scrubbed his son's body. Tsunade disappeared from the scene.

Homura, with a wide grin on his face, managed to remove a large piece of black and purple sludge from Fujiki's body. Chiba, puzzled, asked, "Homura-sama, don't you think it's smelly?"

But Homura seemed oblivious to the smell, replying, "Hehe, these are just minor inconveniences." He then turned his back and spat into the bathtub.

Chiba suddenly realized that compared to the previous battles and the stench of Ollie, this was indeed a minor inconvenience.

Fujiki, now clean and purified, was transferred to another ward by Homura. Underneath the village walls, Chiba and Homura walked side by side, avoiding the attention of the villagers.

Chiba recognized the wall where Fujiki had taken him before and felt a sense of familiarity. Homura continued walking along the wall, weakened by his previous vomiting.

"Thank you, Chiba," Homura expressed his gratitude.

"You're welcome, Fujiki is my friend," Chiba replied modestly.

Homura couldn't hold back anymore and knelt at the base of the wall, overcome with nausea. Chiba hesitated to help but ultimately decided against it, realizing that it would be best to let Homura recover on his own.

Eventually, Homura regained his strength and reached the entrance of the village. The guard Qingtian offered him a stack of masks, resolving the crisis. The two continued their walk along the wall.

Homura shared the details of Fujiki's experience, explaining that he had sent his son to the Land of Whirlpools to experience stability. However, Fujiki encountered bandits who turned out to be Sand Shinobi in disguise.

Chiba was surprised, questioning how Sand Shinobi could infiltrate the Land of Whirlpools, separated by the sea. Homura shook his head, uncertain of the details. He only knew that after Fujiki returned, he mentioned encountering a large group of rogues looting villages in the Land of Uzumaki.

Realizing there were many villages in the Land of Whirlpools, Chiba's eyes sparkled with interest. He contemplated the idea of traveling abroad, considering the scarcity of feces in the back mountains due to the animals' adjustment to the new environment.

After bidding farewell to Homura, Chiba hurried home. He prepared a farewell gift of gold bars for Jingmei and left a short note, as she would manage the farm in his absence. Then, Chiba performed the Five-Grain Reincarnation on himself.

After showering and freshening up, the smell of Ollie dissipated. Near the village entrance, Chiba activated his imitation ability, using the Escape Technique to peel off the remaining Ollie from his body.

And so, Chiba left, ready for his new adventure.
