"During your time in the academy, you will learn a lot of things. Starting today, I will teach you simple chakra control exercises and the Academy's three jutsus that you will learn and perfect in this first year. During this year, we will also start your taijutsu training. The style being taught here will be the academy style, and this part of the class will be reserved as free time for those of you in clans. This is because your clan will teach you the basics of whatever style your clan uses. Any questions so far?"
Takahiro looked around, seeing all the kids looking at him with wide eyes, the excitement of learning jutsu in the first year making them all the more eager to start learning what they could.
'Yep, this is kind of what I expected. The good thing is they look ready to learn, the catch comes when they learn about all the bookwork they have to do in the first year or two of being here.' A devilish smile crossed Takahiro's face, which sent a chill down everyone's spine.
"Yes, yes, you're all super excited. So first we'll start with chakra control exercises. Before we do that though, which of you doesn't have your chakra unlocked already?" Only a couple of civilians' hands went up while all the clan kids kept their hands down.
"Alright, good. I'll help you four unlock your chakra, and then we can get started on our practice with chakra control." Takahiro smiled and stepped towards the four kids.
After the rest of us had our chakra unlocked, Takahiro jumped straight into the explanation of how to feel your chakra, how to move it, and where to focus it to make the leaf stick. Having already mastered this exercise, I sat there watching the rest of the kids try their luck at making the leaf stick in various places on their bodies.
Looking over at Kiyoko, she seemed to be doing okay. Miki likewise was going steady with an occasional shake here and there. Shin was calm as his leaf was flat against his cheek. Yuta seemed to be struggling the most, and that's only because his leaf fell off a couple of minutes after he put it on, and Benimaru looked to be the steadiest of all the people in the room doing the exercise, looking as calm and collected as he could be, as if he's done it a million times.
All of a sudden, I felt a very sharp spike of annoyance shoot through my M E and turned to look at who was giving off that signal. As I turned my head to the left, I saw Takahiro sensei looking at me with a displeased look.
'This kid. First, he didn't take the entrance exam like everyone else in this room, then the principal put him in my class and told me to teach him like any other kid, and now he's not even doing the task at hand.' Takahiro thought to himself as he looked over everyone else to make sure they didn't need any help before heading up the stairs to talk to Shiran.
"Shiran, why aren't you doing the exercise like everyone else?" My teacher asked with a bit of exasperation and annoyance in his voice.
I looked at him and said that I had already mastered this exercise around a year or so ago.
'...' Takahiro stared at me, not saying anything, although I could feel his emotions start to flare again towards me.
"Shiran, it's not okay to lie to your sensei. What would happen if things went south on an important mission? Do you think it would be okay to lie about how and why the mission didn't go according to plan?"
I looked at him while sweat dropping. 'Does he really think that I would lie about something as trivial as a chakra control exercise?'
"No, of course not, sensei."
"Then tell me why you aren't doing the assigned task."
I sighed at his response. 'It makes sense I am a child and he wouldn't think that I had already mastered water walking at only 5 years old. Maybe I should just show him.'
I got up out of my chair and went to the back wall that we weren't too far from and where no one would look and put my foot on the wall while looking at my sensei. As I did that, I lifted my foot and began walking up the wall, not all the way to the ceiling but just enough to get my point across without speaking.
"Takahiro sensei, you'll catch flies if you keep your mouth open like that for much longer." I teased my sensei, trying to snap him out of his slack-jawed and frozen state.
He seemed to snap out of it and shot a probing gaze my way. "How are you able to do that at only 5 years old, Shiran?"
"Well, I've been training in chakra control for around a year or so. Naturally, since I've been training that long, this comes easy enough for me to do unconsciously." I told him the reason, hoping to be able to go back to my seat.
"Alright, sounds good I guess. Just don't go walking around on the ceiling during class and we'll be all good." Takahiro replied while keeping the shocked look in his eyes.
'This kid is nuts, to master wall walking at only five, he has great potential in chakra control it seems, and that's even more impressive considering he's got Uzumaki blood running through his veins.' Takahiro nodded his head, agreeing with his inner dialogue.
'Just wait until he sees me do the academy three jutsus on the first time.' I laughed inside my head while heading back to my seat, excited to see how that scenario was going to play out.
"Alright, kids, now you all know what to expect from the leaf-sticking exercise so you can practice at home. The next thing you'll learn about today is how to do the three basic academy jutsus. The three jutsu in question are the clone, transformation, and replacement jutsu. The reason we only teach these three in our first year is that each one requires proficiency in one of the shinobi arts. The clone jutsu requires you to have good chakra control, the transformation requires you to have good attention to detail, and the replacement requires you to have good sleight of hand and distraction skills."
Over the next few minutes, Takahiro explained a little bit more about the jutsus, how they come in handy, the hand seals, and some tricks and tips for how to perform them. He also demonstrated each one which had all the kids oohing and ahhing over it. After which he told everyone to go out to the practice field and start practicing them.
Instead of heading straight out to the field, I went up to Takahiro sensei and told him that I already knew how to do all three of them.
"Demonstrate all three to me right here then." He said with more of a curious look this time, perhaps because he knew I was ahead of the program this time.
I gave him a demonstration which included making 10 clones of myself, transforming into him down to even the smell, and then replacing myself with a chair at the back of the class.
Takahiro-sensei nodded, saying, "You have enough mastery with these three that you don't have to practice them, just don't distract the others by being out there."
"Can I help them if they need it?" I asked genuinely, wanting to assist my friends if they needed it, although I don't think they really would.
"Unfortunately, no. There is a weird rule where we can't have students teaching each other during school hours because we need to be able to oversee and make sure nothing is seriously wrong with the way someone is doing a technique. Feel free to after class though; neither I nor the school has jurisdiction then." Takahiro said with a wink.
I nodded while turning to head out to the training field at the back of the academy.
