Chapter 72 - Tsunade the Hokage

Standing on top of the Hokage Rock, Kagami looked out over the village that was booming as heavy machinery worked to improve and expand the village. While his chakra vehicles were zipping around like a pack of ants and the civilians all in a joyful mood.

A mood that is there because the Legendary Tsunade is returning and taking over as Hokage. Well among the older folk of the village while the younger wanted to throw support behind Kagami. To them, he did a lot for the village and is famous throughout the world for his strength.

Hence upon the announcement that Tsunade will be coming back and becoming the Fifth Hokage, it was more of a mixture of emotions in the village. Until it was leaked by a secretary who is now under investigation that Tsunade will only be in office for three to six years at most due to a deal.

Yeah, neither Hiruzen, Kagami or the advisors were happy by such news getting out. So Mira mobilized both the ANBU and Root and began to investigate everything about this secretary who now sits in a cell. Which didn't look good while not a spy, turns out she has a loose tongue and spread some sensitivity before. Luckily she didn't handle any work revolving around the security of the village but more dealt with the business owners.

"It's hard to believe this all happened in the last ten years." Mira said, appearing beside him on the Hokage Rock.

"Yeah, and this is only the beginning. Soon the Arc Reactor will be up and running and I will begin building an electric train to run throughout the village." Kagami said. "I can only imagine how fast the village will bloom once more once that is up and going. Materials and people can travel the village with ease as they don't have to walk or get caught up in traffic jams."

"From the many reports all the other villages are beginning to shift. It seems that they noticed the rapid development of our village and began to follow our example." Mira smiled. "Kumogakure even has a bad knock off of our chakra vehicle."

"That could either make or bankrupt a village. Doing all the research isn't cheap." Kagami scratched his chin. "Then there is the actual cost to make the research useful. My Arc Reactor itself is already half a billion ryo and it is only half finished."

Mira grinned, "It would be such a shame if their research would be ruined from time to time."

Kagami rolled his eyes at her words, but knew that unless one of the villages gets yippy. She wouldn't care about some data that he already discovered long ago. Though, he also knew she would keep an eye on their data as well.

"So Tsunade will take over as Hokage tomorrow." Kagami swapped topics. "Any ideas where she is? Besides a quick rundown of what was supposed to happen tomorrow, she left the office pretty fast."

"The Casino." Mira shrugged indifferently.

The next Kagami and Mira were on top of the Hokage building looking over the gathered crowd below. The cheers and joyful laughter as they all wanted to welcome their new Hokage. A scene that brought back memories for Kagami and Mira.

"I remember coming to the plaza to watch Minato take on the mantle of Hokage. Now twelve years later I am here running security for a woman I only heard tales about." Mira said. "It would be better if you were the one everyone is waiting for."

"It won't be long, just a few more years." Kagami shrugged. "Then we all get to gather once more and I will be Hokage. Not something I dreamed about becoming truthfully."

"It was bound to happen. You're just too amazing and from my grandfather words embody most of the previous Hokages. You're insanely strong and goofy at times like the First, knowledgeable like the Second, knows countless jutsu like the Third, and able to flash about and fuinjutsu like the Fourth. Not to mention probably able to match Tsunade in medical knowledge and maybe skills." Mira answered with a grin. "You're probably going to be history's strongest Hokage and one of the youngest."

Kagami rolled his eyes at those words. "It almost sounds like you're bragging about how awesome your boyfriend is."

"Of course. Only someone such as yourself is fit to date such as I, Mira the Unbeatable." Mira narcissistically answered.

Laughing lightly at her words, Kagami let out a sigh as he leaned on the railing. "Have you thought about becoming a Jonin instructor? At least doing it once at least."

"Once, but that idea is kind of far away for us. The positions we hold and all our duties make such ideas a low possibility." Mira answered as she looked out upon the crowd. "Why are you interested in taking in some students?"

"Maybe, but I haven't heard or seen any worthwhile students in the current graduating class nor the next couple ones." Kagami replied. "Neji Hyuga is showing a decent talent and hard working attitude, but his personality. Well, not bad isn't good either so I gave him a pass."

"What about Naruto? Are you going to take him on and train him?" Mira asked.

"Kakashi already came to us and asked to be his teacher. So while I could teach him a couple tricks, he already has a teacher and mentor in Kakashi and Jiraiya once Kakashi teaches him the basics." Kagami replied.

"What about the Third's grandson? I saw that he already has a few tutors. Hiruzen also said the boy has some talent." Mira suggested.

Kagami thought about it for a moment and shook his head. "I would rather teach Hanibi Hyuga, the leader of the Hyuga clan's youngest daughter. The Third's grandson seems troublesome."

"Hmm," Mira nodded. "If some of the things they bragged about, she will be a fairly good choice to take on as a student."

"Well, it looks like it is finally starting, so let's greet our new Hokage." Kagami said as the ceremony began.
