"Can I ask you something?" Ibara got Naruto's attention.
"Mmm," Naruto responded while still eating.
"Could you try to be more gentle? When it comes to fighting, I know you don't need to go all out. These are kids from UA, just like us. They're not bad people. I'm not saying let them win, but maybe ease up a bit... please." Ibara looked at him with a soft expression, hoping he would consider her request.
"I can't promise anything... but I'll keep it in mind," Naruto replied calmly before returning to his meal.
"That's all I can ask for," Ibara smiled, appreciating that he was at least willing to think about it.
Naruto watched the battle between Todoroki and Sero unfold. From his perspective, it was quite one-sided. He couldn't help but be surprised when Todoroki created a massive ice wall that covered over half of the stadium. He observed the anger in her eyes, which seemed to fuel her power, but it also had consequences as her left side was covered in ice, and her breathing became heavier. It was clear that her emotions played a role in her abilities.
After the battle, Naruto used his right hand to help defrost Sero from the ice, though he wondered why Todoroki didn't use her fire quirk to counteract the effects of her ice.
To Naruto's surprise, Todoroki joined him in the participants' box, sitting right behind him. He could feel her intense gaze on the back of his neck. It made him a bit uncomfortable, but he chose to ignore her and focused on watching the next match, which was about to begin.
The following fight was one he didn't particularly like. It involved the eccentric girl against the speedster from her class. It seemed the boy allowed himself to be manipulated into using the equipment the girl had created for a show. Naruto couldn't believe how much she talked and talked. The only thing that caught his attention was her affinity for electronic elements. It might be useful to remember that.
"Wish me luck," Ibara said as she got up from her seat and headed to her fight. Naruto wished her luck and watched her leave.
"Is this seat taken?" Naruto raised an eyebrow as he saw the purple-haired guy with dark circles under his eyes standing next to him. Naruto shrugged, indicating that the seat was open, and Shinzo sat down beside him, quietly observing the upcoming fight.
"I guess you didn't come here just to enjoy my company, did you?" the Uzumaki remarked without turning to look at the unfamiliar boy beside him, who stood still, seemingly unaffected by the blonde's sarcasm.
"No," Shinso responded succinctly. He had momentarily shifted his attention from the ongoing fight to observe the shinobi. "I'm just here to watch the competition," he added calmly. However, when he noticed that Naruto was paying him no heed, his frown deepened. "You know what? I hate people like you," he stated with a deeper voice, expressing his annoyance towards the bandaged blonde.
"You're neither the first nor the last to say that to me," Naruto retorted sharply. He then shifted his gaze to the ongoing battle in the arena, where the green-haired girl seemed to have the upper hand against Kaminari. "Do you always sit next to strangers just to tell them you hate them?" Naruto added mockingly, casting an annoyed glance at the Class 1-C student.
"Todoroki, Midoriya, Bakugo, and you... You're all the same. People with remarkable talents who are revered as prodigies by everyone. In reality, the only reason you stand out from other students is due to UA's flawed registration system," Shinso's words took a different turn, causing Naruto to raise an eyebrow.
Taking a deep breath, Naruto remained composed, focusing on the unfolding battle. He knew this girl was being called a genius merely because she was outperforming the competition. How absurd. "Isn't mind control a useful quirk?" he asked, attempting to change the subject successfully. This question, however, seemed to agitate Shinso. It was clear that Naruto was aware of the nature of his quirk, but he didn't yet understand its full extent.
"The UA entrance exam involves destroying giant robots. What use is my quirk in a test like that?" Shinso responded with irritation, still keeping his gaze fixed on the Uzumaki. Watching the battles unfold, especially the confrontation between Uzumaki and Midoriya, brought back memories of why he was placed in the support class instead of the hero class, further fueling his frustration.
"Once again, the education system fails, and you vent your anger on a stranger. Quite cliché," Naruto remarked, the tension between them growing palpable and making nearby students uncomfortable. "You have the power to control people. It's up to you to figure out how to make it work... It's a unique quirk." Yawning, Naruto observed as his friend Ibara defeated the electric-powered opponent.
"A power like mine that labels me as a villain. Have you ever seen heroes with a power like mine?" He asked, clearly annoyed, as he crossed his arms, knowing their fight was set to begin in a few minutes.
"Since when does a power define whether you're a hero or a villain, kid? If you let others' opinions dictate your path, you won't get anywhere. It's your job to break the mold and step into the world as a hero," Naruto retorted firmly. "My partner's up next. Time to go." With that, the purple-haired man rose and left, mulling over the Uzumaki's words.
