Chapter 87 : Three, Four, Five ( 1)

.

I know what it means to be the Hokage, but right now, at this point in time, I cannot commit to that position.

A storm is coming, and if I want to save my people and my home, I need to be able to move on a moment's notice. I can't be tied down to the village.

It's not my time yet.

Another monster is going to have to take my place.

But who?

...

As the gold light shinned upon the earth, destroying everything within its majestic presence, what was seen differed from person to person.

Maito Gai, considered one of Konoha's greatest jonin, watched the youthful destroyer of armies with the most serious expression anyone had ever seen him wear, ever. Maito Gai had watched with the upmost respect and gratitude as a warrior, an angel of god – maybe even a god himself – did what many couldn't.

Not only was the thought of destroying armies with a single attack absurd, but the fact that anyone could take that burden upon themselves, with a smile nonetheless, was something only a few could accomplish.

The fact that a thousand lives were taken by your own hands broke most. That respect he was feeling was because he remembered. He remembered the one thing Uzumaki Naruto said that he hadn't believed with all his heart. But now he did, he believed, he was a believer.

Maito Gai saw a promise being kept.

Akimichi Choji, a genin most believed couldn't make it in the shinobi world, watched as the bright, golden light shinned its might upon those who wished to burn heaven.

He watched as someone who believed in him gave him, gave the world, a reason to believe in the Bringer of Hope. The young Akimichi never liked the thought of death, but right now, at this very moment, death had never looked so beautiful. Never before had he ever seen such lovely murder in his life. The very thought was frightening.

Murder, slaughter, death, these were things that should never be beautiful, or majestic, but… he couldn't take his eyes away, hypnotized, memorized from the feat before him, before everyone.

Akimichi Choji saw an angel; all that was missing were wings… wings…

Never before had all of the ANBU Black Ops been present in one place, but never before had there been an absolute reason to. In a blink, the entire ANBU force lined up side-by-side, next to the operative they considered a god, a commander, a brother.

As one, the ANBU stood straighter, heads held higher, hands placed across their hearts, showing the world who they obeyed, who they followed, who they would stand by even if asked to walk through the depths of hell.

The ANBU saw a Hokage.

Haruno Sakura, proud member of Team Seven, stood still, her heart racing and her eyes wide. She had thought that Sakura Trees were beautiful, but with the light, the light that out shinned the sun, she knew that this was the akin to the unseen beauty of the world.

It was a kind of beauty that was never supposed to be seen, those who witnessed it would never want it to go. It was like the worlds unseen beauty because it was necessary. Like Oxygen, it wasn't visible, but so very necessary. And because of the necessity, it was considered beautiful – or at least it was in her family.

Haruno Sakura saw necessary beauty.

Mitarashi Anko, snake summoner and jonin of Konoha, watched with glazed eyes, as her lover, her man, did what made her fall in love with him in the first place. He was saving her, saving everyone, from wickedness. He was protecting what was his, Konohagakure. Her heart beat faster and faster, witnessing the fall of an army.

Mitarashi Anko saw her knight in shining armor do what he was born to do, protect.

Hatake Kakashi, ANBU legend and second greatest jonin of Konohagakure no Sato, watched with his precious Sharingan in awe at the gilded destruction. His eye – gifted to him from his best friend – was capable of only seeing a portion of what the technique was. He had heard about the Tsuchikage's Jinton, but he knew, even without seeing the "Dust Release" that this was far superior.

It didn't destroy on a molecular level, it completely erased from the earth. It was pure, unmatched carnage. He saw the back of his sensei's sons' back, watching as he joined his father in the nightmares of Konoha's enemies.

Hatake Kakashi saw his sensei within the Bringer of Hope.

Terumi Mei, Godaime Mizukage of Kirigakure no Sato, watched as her lover, her man, destroyed the destroyers. She had never before seen such a brutal, powerful attack.

The gilded carnage made everything she was capable of seem like child's play. She was of a different village, a different nation, she should have been terrified of the gold-covered shinobi before her, the entirety of Konoha's ANBU at his side, but she just couldn't feel fear towards him.

She was his, she belonged to him now. She knew it, he knew it, hell even Anko knew it. Nothing mattered now – Konoha and Kiri where allies and what she saw in front of her brought happiness to her heart. She was the Mizukage, and he would most definitely become the Hokage one day.

Terumi Mei saw peace between nations.

Uzuki Yugao, ANBU Captain of Ro-Han, the Hokage's personal elite, watched the golden pillar from heaven descend upon the enemies of Konoha to her brother's left, being one of the many – or all – ANBU that stood with him.

She watched as her brother screamed, shouted, cried at the world, demanding to be noticed, to be heard. He was done with people doubting him, treating him like he wasn't a monster, like he wasn't the god that he was.

She saw her brother stand against those who wished harm on his people, his home, with a monstrous smile marring his face, his slit, gilded eyes filled with excitement. She saw as her brother became something he loved being.

Uzuki Yugao saw her otouto wake, and show the world what a monster really looked like.

Nara Shikamaru, genin of the genius Nara clan and son of the greatest tactician since the Nidaime Hokage, watched as the world's greatest monster fell the army that wished to "burn Konoha to ashes".

His life had been a lazy one, his prodigious mind not caring to be seen like something more than he was. He was a quiet slacker, looking for brilliance in the world around him. And at this moment, he was witnessing what he had looked for his entire life. The majestic, golden light that shinned down from the heavens like an angry god, washing the lands of the darkness that plagued it, was, in a word, brilliance.

Nara Shikamaru saw the wrath of Konoha, the brilliant, ingenious wrath.

Gekko Hayate, skilled tokubetsu jonin and fiancé of the Bringer of Hope's sister, watched the world's greatest shinobi do what he did best. There was no doubt in his mind that the Bringer of Hope would protect Konoha from every threat, foreign or domestic.

He saw as his brother-in-law did what he had to for the safety of their people, his fiancé standing alongside him. It was an amazing sight, watching a god crush demons with the entirety of the ANBU standing by him. It was awe-inspiring.

Gekko Hayate saw the unifying force that was the Bringer of Hope.

Onoki, Sandaime Tsuchikage of Iwagakure no Sato, was forced to watch as his army, his people, were slaughtered in an instant, in a blink of an eye. He watched as the sky opened and the gods roared. He watched as the son of a butcher became the butcher.

He couldn't break free from whatever it was holding him down. He didn't want to call it what he knew it was, because that would mean it was true, it would mean that the very angels were under the boy's – if he was truly a boy – command.

Onoki saw the heavens open angrily, and then, he saw them speak.

Jiraiya, the toad sage of Mount Myoboku and legendary Sannin, watched with an expressionless face. On the inside, he was just as still. He was seeing Minato's son do just as he did.

The baby that he held in his arms was carving his name into the soil, imprinting his name in history as a legend, as a god that would destroy the world if asked by his commander. He was witnessing his godson take off the mask he wore, showing the world the monster, the absolute power heaven commanded. He smiled.

Jiraiya saw a monster that he was proud to call family.

Uchiha Sasuke, student of the Bringer of Hope, watched his shishou with a wicked smirk on his face. This was what – at least to them – living was for. He knew that his sensei was awake, and that he was enjoying every second of it.

His people were behind him, his ANBU comrades beside him, it was truly a sight that would be remembered. He felt the power, the heat behind the blast. He watched with excited eyes as his sensei showed the world why Konoha was considered the greatest of the Five. He watched as his sensei showed the world what was to come.

Uchiha Sasuke saw the introduction of monsters to the world.

God help them all.
