A Prodigy...?

Mikoto, after having given a shock from Ryouma, went back to her home.

Aside from teaching Ryouma, Kasumi and Obito, she was also given the task of keeping an eye on their progress and report it back to clan head, which was her father.

She was not a fool, she knew why they were choosen over other kids. They themselves have proved why they were worthy of special attention, Obito might not be as talented as Ryouma and Kasumi but he is still an above average Uchiha child.

But what she didn't understand is why she was choosen to teach those kids.

Mikoto's POV:

'It makes no sense to choose me to tutor the kids. The basic purpose of this training is to instill gratefulness and gratitude in talented Uchihas towards the Uchiha clan, all the while giving them a edge over others. It is a investment where clan loses almost nothing to gain few powerful ninjas to support the clan and it's endeavour s in future.

Hence the tutor chosen for teaching and molding the children are usually the extremists, who adore clan and do not feel guilty about almost brainwashing the children.

I am no such person despite being the daughter of patriarch and this fact is not hidden. Infact I have even objected to some of the things they were doing in the name of welfare of clan like branding the members with seal like hyugas to prevent bloodline theft. I surely won't brainwash the kids and have them sing praises of Uchihas.

I wonder what father was thinking making me teach this batch. And why haven't he replaced me with a more Uchiha - fanatic ninja even with all the feats they have done.'

This batch certainly had much more potential than any other batch of kids they had trained. I have heard that Ryouma had much more affinity towards fire chakra nature then any other person ever recorded. Kasumi has a brilliant mind and Obito has a brilliant spirit.

From the start, they have proven that they were more talented than even talented Uchihas. According to me they should have immediately replaced me with some ninja who could tell them how great Uchiha are, especially when their dreams are considered, because after some time when academy starts they will be given much more exposure and then it will be much more difficult to brainwash them, especially when teachers in school will be doing that too. Some of the things they say might even clash making the child doubt everything.

'But I am not complaining, infact I even pray that they let me teach my precious kittens.

Hah, but they will surely change the decision after hearing Ryouma's new 'achievement'.

And I can't just hide the fact that he did that, I can just hope he somehow fail to do the test in the evening. Too much attention is never good.

Hah, I can't believe I am praying for my student to fail.'

Mikoto reached the house and entered. Inside she quickly found her father to report today's happenings.

Reaching her father's office, she knocked twice at the door and waited. A quiet but still heavy voice came from within.

"Come in."

Stepping inside, she stood in front of her father and greeted him. Her father, Uchiha Tatsuma acknowledged it and told her to sit.

She sat down in front of him and said.

"I am here to report on the today's activities."

"Proceed"

"Today's activities went as planned, all three of them can easily complete the physical training. After that I taught them about the chakra natures."

"You are not here to tell me this, are you?"

Patriach said with narrowed eyes.

"Kasumi have also learned the chakra flow."

Mikoto replied.

"And?"

Patriach said with a bit of impatience. While learning chakra flow at the age of four is a very impressive feat, he already knew that she was about to learn it from her previous reports. And his suprise was bit dampened when her training mate about 5 months younger than her learnt it 3 months earlier even after having higher chakra reserves.

"Ryouma claimed that he has learned both chakra flow and leaf concentration exercise, making him eligible for learning the Great Fireball Jutsu. I had asked for a demonstration today's evening on the training grounds at 6 pm."

Hearing that though, eyes of patriach widdened and his stoic mask fell as a shocked expression formed on his face. He quickly gathered his thoughts and thought about the implications of the information.

"I will accompany you in the demonstration."

"As you wish."

"On the other note, hokage had ordered for another support team to be sent to frontlines. Uchiha clan's assistance is required. You will lead a small platoon to battlefield and support the front. You will depart in two days."

Mikoto became sad hearing that and thought.

'Did I jinx it'

But as a shinobi is not allowed to weaknesses, she could only suck it up and say.

"I will make preparations but what about my students."

"New instructor would be teaching them after you. Alright your work is done. You can leave now."

After Mikoto left, Tatsuma thought about the information she had given about Ryouma.

'Learning chakra control itself at this age is a huge accomplishment and he even learnt leaf concentration exercise and broke the record set by Uchiha Kagami, who was a prodigy by himself.

That aside, he was even seen practicing and making several explosion tags.

Are we looking at the brith of a new prodigy? Seems like my decision to choose him was correct after all.

But how exactly should I break the news to elders?

They will definitely be disappointed by me for choosing Mikoto as their instructor because letting loyalty of such a prodigy just hang on his connection to Mikoto, seems lousy no matter how I see it.

My original excuse for letting Mikoto teach them was that when she becomes matriarch, she would be bound to clan by her duty and he would be bound to her by gratitude and gratefulness.

That is enough for an above average child because even losing his support won't affect the clan much and ultimately he would be an Uchiha afterall.

But prodigies are different, not gaining their support when it was basically free is dumb move.

Tch, I won't be able to convince them to not give this batch a Uchiha loving brainwashed, but I will what I can. Let's hope it doesn't endanger my plans.'

Ryouma after leaving the training ground was sitting in his home with few scrolls in front of him. He was practicing his fuinjutsu. He had recently learned few basic seals and now he was trying to master them.

But if he knew what storm had he brewed with his remarks just few hours ago, he would not be as relaxed as he is now.

He had deliberately shown his capabilities little by little do as to not make them shocked and suspicious when he displays them later. And all it could do now was affirm his position as a genius.

The testing of explosion tags was deliberately done in open so as to let the clan know that he has some interests in fuinjutsu. However he has kept his flame training a secret along some other stuff he did.

But he had let his guard down after seeing no repercussions and seeing Kasumi catching up to him. Telling the clan about his learning of leaf concentration exercise has marked him as a prodigy in their eyes.

As for what this decision will lead to, well ask that from author.
