Evolved Goblins

(Arthur)

After the end of the battle royale, I ordered every goblin to gather together in the center. All of the corpses and the blood pools vaporized and the battlefield returned to its previous state. All that's left from the intense battle was some craters that explosions and the weapons caused.

Now, the important is the evolved goblins we gained from this battle royale. There are five hundred goblins survived and there are already three evolved goblins and several goblins that are about to evolve. It was surprising to see those rare evolutions pop out. I inspected those goblins and compared them to those I remember in my memory.

*Goblin Chief

-A variant goblin that is superior to ordinary goblins in every possible way. It can only be achievable by evolution and the most important factor is the evolving goblin has to lead its own tribe. Its subordinates would be strengthened by the mana leaking from its body. Further evolutions are possible.

*Blue Goblin

-A rare variant of goblin species focuses on fast movement and swift attacks. It has a weak endurance but it also has an affinity toward the water and ice magic. Its evolution conditions are unknown. Further evolutions are possible but they are hard to achieve.

*Blood Goblin

-The rarest variant of goblin species. Even in its early times, this variant has power far superior to other variants. All of its aspects are enchanted ten times upon reaching evolution and from this point on it would continuously grow. It can gain additional abilities by drinking the blood of other creatures. There are no further evolutions but modifications are possible. They can modify their bodies upon devouring the magic cores of the monsters they hunt.

They are exactly like the ones I remember. That's good. There is no problem with the evolution and their genetic codes are successfully evolved so I can use this to mass-produce the evolved species. But unfortunately, I can't. Maintaining the monsters cost energy too and as can be expected, maintaining the evolved species requires even more energy. Tower already has enough energy to maintain this evolved monster for a month but soon enough I need to find an energy source or open the tower. It is troubling.

There are also some goblins showing signs of variants I know. They would naturally evolve after I put them on the second floor. The environment of the second floor will be more challenging when I also put the wolves. But there is also Ellie's idea of putting some animals on floors. It is a good idea, we can make the environment as natural as possible and the monsters' evolution process would be most optimal. But there is also a slight catch. Putting real animals might be even more troublesome and maintaining the recreated animals would put even more burden on the tower. Seems like I need an energy source to support the tower.

Anyway, let's get back to the goblins.

*Hunter Goblin

-A common variant of goblins that made their living by hunting animals and other monsters. This evolution grants enchanted senses and more dexterity to goblins. Further evolutions are possible.

*Elite Goblin

-These variants serve Goblin Chiefs and their proud warriors. They are more powerful than ordinary goblins in every aspect. They obey their leader's every order and are ready to die for them. Further evolutions are possible.

There is also a new type of evolution I have never seen before. I will name it myself. Of course, these goblins are Gienba's warriors. They show some similarities to elite goblins but they aren't the same.

*Viking Goblin

-A rare variant that has never been seen before. Most of the details are unknown. They are vicious and savage goblins. Their strength is possibly at the same level as Goblin Chief.

"These are highly likely going to evolve into a variant never seen before."

"Really? We are quite lucky then."

"Perhaps. Well, I will release them to the second floor and then get some energy source to support the tower."

"Supporting the tower? I thought we could handle it albeit hardly."

"We still can but there are more rare variants than I thought. And if we have more evolved and rare variants while moving forward with our plans things will get worse."

"... I can give my mana too. I am ready to help you however I can!"

"You don't have to worry. I have a plan. Anyway, let's get back to the matter in our hands now."

I brought the evolved goblins to the second floor. This is also Ellie's first time seeing this floor after I completed it. The second floor has a vast forest area like the first floor but this floor also has several rocky areas full of caves and such. I'm planning to put wolves there. Maybe I can put some easter eggs into some of those caves.

Aside from the rocky terrain, there is not much difference compared to the first floor. I also made the trees taller and bigger, and that's it. We drop the goblins and I toured Ellie around.

"It is not much different than the first floor."

"Well, the main idea is the first five-floor will be forest theme and similar to each other. We can change the terrain and theme from the sixth floor onward. You can choose what kind of floor we can make."

"I want a maze floor. We can use fewer monsters and confuse adventurers. Also, you said that mazes are part of dungeons and we don't have one yet."

"You are right. Let's make the sixth floor a maze. By the way, I am going to get an energy source for us. It's better we get one."

I told her the plan I had. There is no suitable energy source exists so I have to build one. There are some alternatives I can use but I choose the easiest to make and use. We talked about it for a while, when we noticed it was already nighttime. We teleported to our room and decide to rest for the night.

There was a small but important battle going on in the middle of the forest to the west of the East Continent. The battle was between groups of humans and demi-humans. The demi-humans were from the rabbit tribe. They had ears and tails like rabbits but otherwise looked exactly like humans. Their agility was much higher than humans but their bodies were fragile.

The rabbitmen had six people in their group but five of them were already dead. On the other side, humans had fifteen people and only three of them were dead. The last rabbitmen was already heavily injured and could barely stand. He desperately attacked the closest human but before he could get close an arrow come and it stuck in his eye. The human he tried to attack beheaded him with his giant ax.

"This is the fourth demi-human group we come across with. They are getting more common as we move forward."

"Isn't it obvious? We are moving to the center of the East Continent. The groups we will come across are going to increase in numbers. We should be really careful while moving forward."

This group of humans was famous mercenaries known as Silver Claw. Their leader was the one who wields the giant ax. His name was Connie the Executioner. He was two meters tall and his bald head was making him easy to recognize. On his bald head, there was a tattoo of a dragon claw. He complained to the only healer in his group.

The Priest Ezra was a handsome charming young man. He had an average height, brown hair, and brown eyes. He had the appearance of an innocent young boy. He was wearing a white robe and had a wooden staff. He was originally not part of this mercenary group but he was the part who hired these mercenaries. The Church.

"Our time is short, Mister Connie. We have to complete our mission and get out of this land full of filthy beasts."

"I know. I also want to get out of here. I already lost three men."

"Don't worry, we will reward you handsomely. It will be worth everything you have done for us."

"It better be. Oi, Ryan, we are moving. We better find a safer place to camp for the night."

While everyone was moving, Ezra took out a compress from his pocket. It was pointing directly forward. This was a magical item crafted by dwarfs a long time ago. Its purpose was to show the location of a certain item. The item the mercenaries were after. Ezra grinned since he got closer to completing his mission.

"It's only a matter of time before I get it. When I complete this mission I will be having lots of fun."

Ezra had a wicked grin while imagining the things he will do with the rewards he will get. This was an important mission and its rewards will be generous. He was happy with this important but easy mission until tomorrow when he realized that things became a nightmare for him.
