My System was Muted!

In a realm where folks wielded unique "Goldfingers," fonts of magical prowess, Lucas Evercrest remained blissfully unaware of his own exceptional potential. Little did he fathom that he harbored this incredible power deep within, an untapped wellspring. While others soared to grand heights, Lucas inadvertently subdued his Goldfinger, leaving him stranded at the humbling level 1, watching as his peers flourished. One fateful night, enveloped in the haze of sleep deprivation, our unsuspecting protagonist's world shifted. Battling to embrace slumber's embrace, he carelessly brushed against the "Mute Notifications" icon on his Goldfinger's interface before drifting into dreams' embrace. Seasons swept by like leaves on the wind, and there he stood, drowning sorrows in whiskey's amber embrace and endless loaves of bread, mourning an elusive system he believed had passed him by. Amid the din of a bar, laughter rippled like an unsteady melody. Echoes of "Status Open" danced in the air, chanted by playful kids, each repetition a chorus of mockery. Weariness pressed his head against the bar's cool surface, a failed shield against the jeers and japes. "Status Open, Status Open, Status Open," he muttered, lips grazing the wood, words coated in a blend of irony and irritation. And then, as if summoned by this weary incantation, a radiant cerulean window materialized before him. Within its luminescence, Lucas Evercrest's identity flickered, inscribed alongside his meager statistics: "[Lucas Evercrest], [Level 1 [^], Job: Starter], [HP: 1220, MP: 123], [Str:84, Agi:93, Int:43, Ins:23, Wis:53, Def:32, Sta:45, Dex:32, Con: 122]." Details unfurled like a tapestry, revealing a mosaic of attributes. His handiwork, etched in the fabric of his being, began to come to light. The window whispered of abilities and names, secrets shrouded in cryptic notation: "[Abilities: Open to show more.], [Titles: Open to show more.]" Yet even amidst this revelation, a sobering truth lingered – his status, labeled "Intoxicated," stood as a stark reminder of his present condition. Experience, captured within the confines of "EXP: 100/100," hinted at untapped potential, awaiting the spark of realization. An "Inventory" beckoned, promising more to explore, yet the ever-watchful "Missed Notifications" count of "99+" bore the mark of silence, a testament to a bygone era when his Goldfinger's voice remained muted. And so, in the quiet hum of the bar, amidst the ebb and flow of laughter and life, Lucas Evercrest's journey unfurled anew. The forgotten Goldfinger, once stifled by his own inadvertence, stood poised to rewrite his destiny, as he grasped the reigns of his dormant power, eager to ascend beyond the confines of level 1 and embrace the legacy that had patiently awaited his awakening. *This synopsis was written by someone else who wishes to remain Anonymous, thank you to who did it.* *Title is pending for the cover.*

~Ignored~ means that the textbox went away on its own without being viewed. It will appear in his missed messages tab.

~~City of Asgard, Reborn Hill~~

[You have purchased the Abilities <Luck 1 Up>, <Rigged Outcome>, and <Sleight 1 of Hand>. You have 1837 Skill Points left.]

"What better skill is there than luck itself? To have the embodiment of the world on my side!" Lucas triumphantly placed his arms behind his head, his ecstatic blue eyes reflecting the blue windows before him.

The man adjusted a brown band around his neck, browsing the classes he could choose from. Most of the classes he looked over brought nothing to him. Merchant? It's pretty lame for him. A standard warrior? It could work but it's not specialized. Despite wanting to be a magician, he also didn't think he would have any advantages from starting from scratch.

While reluctantly hovering his hand over <Swordsman > he noticed an odd class and tapped on it.

[<Joker > This class specializes in deceit and performance. <Joker >'s are usually the focus of attention wherever they go.]

"The hell is this, wasn't there another class that had the same description?"

Lucas was perplexed as he quickly scrolled through the class select screen, accidentally clicking on a class.

[<Intermediate St]< p>

Before the textbox could even finish writing he closed it and his face tensed up, after making another mistake by accidentally closing an important textbox he became visibly angry, his arm jittering a bit to the right.

Lucas began scrolling more erratically and scrolling back ever so frequently, but as he made more mistakes he got angrier, which resulted in even more mistakes. Which just resulted in a loop that kept getting worse until eventually, he just gave up.

"This damn system is laughing at me, what am I? A damn Jester?" Lucas just lay down while letting out a long sigh. He closes his eyes as he tries to relax and control himself until a blue window appears in front of him.

[<Jester > This class specializes in deceit and performance. <Jester >'s are usually the focus of attention wherever they go.]

He immediately bolts up and firmly grasps the grass beneath him before pulling it out of the ground. He suddenly twists his head like an insane man and talks in exasperated pauses."OH SO, NOW! NOW??? NOW YOU DECIDE TO F***ING WORK? ARE YOU MOCKING ME? HUH? IS THAT WHAT'S GOING ON?!"

Lucas tried to grab the system window but just laid his hands in his lap, looking down after his hands phased through. His dejected face just fell into his lap as he let out a loud grumble.

"Just... It works! I guess." His hands suddenly shot up as he spoke, just giving a half-insane and half-done-with-everything look, he slapped his legs as he went back to lying down"

"But seriously, why are these classes showing the same description? What's the issue with this, this damn thing broke or something?"

"Can you show me Joker again?" Lucas's dark skin as he lay down contrasts him and the ground. As he fidgeted with the band around his neck, the system window finally appeared again.

[<Joker > This class is a front-line class that loves to get in the way. The <Joker > is a class whose main goal is to attract attention from their allies in combat.]

"What...? It changed?" Lucas turned over on his side while looking at the window, just looking away from and back at it. "The hell's with this busted thing? The gods got some issue with me?"

"I guess I'll just ponder over it later, if I chose a class at random Daher would probably scold me. Talking about how I should 'Look out for my future' or 'actually think before making a life-changing decision'. I'll just wait for him to get back before I choose the class."

Lucas brushed his hand against the window while sighing, he moved the window away from his sight. "It'll be super lame if I get stuck with a bad class after all, no one would say OH NO, LOOK OUT FOR LUCAS THE JOKER!"

[<Rigged Outcome> is changing your fate. It is now going on a 12-hour cooldown.] ~Ignored~

He mockingly raised his hands, and let out a sigh before lowering his arms, though on the way down his arm made contact with the <Confirm > option on the class change window, due to his carelessness.

[Your class has been changed to <Joker >, your Max Level has increased to 500, class related abilities have been unlocked in the shop.] ~Ignored~

[A <Joker > specific quest has begun. A unique reward has been chosen for completion.] ~Ignored~

[<Tertiary Class Choice> has been chosen to be the reward of the quest <"Understanding" >] ~Ignored~

"Heh, this thing's just way too easy when you have experienced friends. I would've had to figure this all out by myself... Thank god that I have Daher on my side."

"Ha... Daher; just how much has he done for me these days? The exoskeleton, the system management, getting me discounts on the drinks..."

[You have been inflicted by a curse, judging stats... The check has failed, and the curse is applied.] ~Ignored~

[You have been cursed by the <Curse of Sleep>. You are being lulled into a sleep.] ~Ignored~

Lucas lay down with a large smile on his face. He fell into the grass and embraced its comfort. "Heh, I gotta pay him back for everything one of these days."

Lucas turned on his side and slowly drifted off into the lull of the night as his eyes felt relief from staring at the system windows. "I'll make it up toooo you... grnzzzz..."

As the man drifted off a large shadow towered over his peaceful figure, leaving behind squashed patches of grass in shapes of large paws.

Snarl "GrrrRrrrrRAG..."

A large beast looking like a mixture of a dog and a bear lowered their face toward Lucas's sleeping body and opened its massive jaws, revealing a gaping maw and lines and lines of sharp teeth

Crunch

The creature had a face of confusion before suddenly shifting to pain, Whimper "GrnnAA! WAWAWAWAA!" The beast jumped back in pain and tightly grabbed onto its mouth while yelling out loudly.

The creature had some shattered teeth and blood flowing out of its gums, it began coughing out loud and quickly galloped away quite scared.

Lucas scratched the part of his body that was bitten before rolling over to the other side.
