My Skeleton System

James was the worst of the worst when it came to living as a human. Living most of his life as a bandit, he finally reaped that karma and it was most assuredly poor karma.

A new threat

While James was in the middle of his crafting session, elsewhere, other events were taking place that would have long standing consequences to his new found slice of the world. Fifty miles south of the crypt he had been reborn in was a town. At this moment, there was a particular scene playing out in the adventures guild.

"A new request has been issued by the guild. There are goblins coming from the north and we need adventurers to seek out the cave or dungeon they are coming from and report the findings back to the guild." Said the receptionist as she put a flyer on the board.

It didn't take long for a few parties to take a look at the flyer and accept the task. Scouting was a common task for adventurers to take, especially when it came to trying to find lairs of monsters or dungeons. Dungeons were the main source of income for most adventurers as the drops could be sold for a decent profit depending on what they were. Even information on the dungeons themselves and the layout of the floors.

Pretty soon, trouble would come knocking on James' door. He would have to give his utmost effort to advance as quickly as possible.

James was crafting the last of his new equipment at this moment. He had created a full chest piece and shoulder guards. His arms were lightly plated down to his clawed gauntlets to allow for better maneuverability. From the waist down, he had used the same plate design from his arms to again provide protection while being easy to move in. His boots featured a spike protrusion at the end, while the soles were grooved to provide better traction. The shield that he had previously sported had now become slightly larger and was fixed to his armor. On his head, he had a helm that was molded to it, attaching to his jaw bones where the opening moved in the opposite direction while having serrated teeth along the inside.

His new equipment looked menacing to say the least and if he opened his mouth, it would look like a grotesque monster with two rows of teeth. With his armor finished, it was time to move on to the new skills that he wanted and to distribute his remaining stat points after that. The list of skills he was presented with was quite long even by human standards. There were probably around thirty or so skills available to him.

The first thing he needed was a skill to suit his new armor and the direction he wanted to go in for battle. The first skill he found was called mana channeling. It allowed him to channel mana and spells through weapons and armor, eliminating his need for the staff he had acquired previously. The second skill was called gouge, which made any attack with claws more effective and provided a bleed effect. Lastly, for five stat points, he acquired the skill necrotic mist. This mist would spread out from him and cost ten mana a minute to use. The area of effect depended on how long he channeled and various other factors. Finally, he distributed his remaining twenty stat points after using two to level up necro-touch.
