Serene knocked on Nora's door, but she didn't respond, so she waited outside until it started raining. Days like that passed and she weathered hail, merciless sun, and heavy rain waiting outside, until she was finally threatened by the police to leave Nora alone.

Then she went to Delilah. She laughed in her face and told her that she never thought of her as as friend, that she was better than she was and had better things to do than to help her.

When she went to Mary, she apologised to her about what happened but she said she was actually struggling and unable to help her. So she sent her on her way, but not before treating her to an expensive brunch.

She could not find Francesca.

And when she bumped into Jenny, she only changed routes quickly. When Serene caught up to her, Jenny told her honestly that she regarded her as a friend before but now that her name was steeped in scandal, she could no longer afford to be seen around her. Then she threw her out. As Serene walked back home, the truth hit her.

Only one relationship in her life was right.
