What to Eat?

I set my keys down in the rainbow glass bowl sitting on the small end table by my doorway. As I sat on the wooden bench in the foyer taking off my sneakers I felt my stomach growl in anger. I had forgotten to eat breakfast and didnt think to grab something on my way back from the gym.

"Well rocky, it seems like delivery for lunch," I scratched the head of the small black cat that appeared at my feet. He jumped up on my lap and pushed his head on my chin. He meowed loudly and looked at me with his fiery orange eyes.

I set him down and walked into the living room that doubled as my office. I plopped down on the tattered, grey couch that my parents so lovingly forced upon me as soon as I got my own place. Most of the furniture I owned was would be trash that had found a home in my cozy basement unit of the duplex my sister-in-law owned. It wasn't pretty but she took pride in her properties and gave me a discount I couldn't pass up. I grabbed my laptop off the cracked mirror coffee table that was covered in papers, books, and empty boxes of take out.

I opened up my browser and searched for food in my area, trying to decide on something to eat. "Rocky nothing sounds good! We had pho yesterday, we've had chinese at least three times in the last week, and I am really sick of hamburgers and fries," I kept scrolling through all the familiar eateries I frequented. A new listing piqued my interest. " Oh what about pizza? There is a new place called It Can Pizza. it just opened yesterday. What do you think my friend?" Rocky licked his jowls. "extra pepperoni it is!" Not seeing an online platform to order on I dialed the number listed.

"It Can Pizza where we turn your hearts desires into the pizza of your dreams how can I help you?" a sing song voice chirped on the other end.

"Wow that's one hell of a slogan. What if my heart desires m&m's and marshmallows?" I asked jokingly.

"well the marshmallows do crisp up nicely in the oven and the m&m's melt on the inside but the shell keeps them intact and they pop with chocolatey goodness when you bite them! We call that pizza the Sweet Tooth and instead of marinara you can choose from chocolate sauce, caramel, or strawberry jam as your sauce and instead of regular cheese you can get shredded coconut or marscapone!"

"Holy shit that sounds like sugar coma inducing happiness. I didn't expect that to be real." I laughed. "As much as I would love to I think I would just like a medium pepperoni with extra pepperoni, please."

The voice at the other end giggled lightly, "You got my hopes up for nothing! I mean no offense, but that's a pretty boring pizza. We are known for our outrageous and over the top pizzas. We like the challange! But I guess I can get you your mundane pizza this time. Would you like delivery or take out?"

I smiled,"Oh definitely delivery. I am far too famished to travel past my front door."

"Oh I totally get that," the melodic voice chimed. well with the opening special, your total will be $10.82 and if could just get an address please?" I gave my address and was quoted about twenty minutes. I thanked them and hung up the phone.

I hoped up from the couch and headed towards the bathroom in the back of the apartment. I walked in and sighed. Dirty clothes and discarded towels were piled up on the floor and the small counter was overflowing with various toiletries, makeup, and more dirty laundry. I really need to stop putting off laundry day I thought to myself as I turned on the water. I quickly rinsed myself off and washed my hair not bothering to shave for the umpteenth day in a row.

I grabbed the only towel that was haphazardly hanging on the towel rack and dried my hair and body. As I wrapped the towel around my torso I walked over to the counter and wiped at the small, steamy mirror positioned just above the sink. I ran my fingers through my curly, dusty brown hair. It reached my neck now. It hasn't been this long in a while.

I left the bathroom and walked down the short hallway. I pushed the green and blue beads that hung from my bedroom doorway aside. My bedroom looked no better than my bathroom. clothes were strewn everywhere and the small trashcan that sat next to my nightstand was barely visible under an obnoxiously large pile of trash. I heard Rocky's collar bell jingle as he ran over to his cat tree in the corner of the room. the cat tree was also piled up with papers and books. When was the last time I actually cleaned my house? I shook my head as I made my way over to the close door next to Rocky's tree. I pulled out a loose graphic tanktop and some mossy green leggings. just as I finished getting dressed I heard a knock at the door.
