Chapter 27: Apology

Chapter 27: Apology

The man walked close to her and said in a low voice, "Be a good bitch and stay here, or do you want to be sold as a slave?"

The man asked as his hands moved towards the girl's clothes. She had already put in a lot of effort in maintaining those old shabby clothes. As a result, they tore off easily.

"NO! FATHER! LET ME GO!", the older girl yelled in a panicked voice.

Tanya also tried to stop her father by pulling him back.

Alas, her small stature was no match for the man's big body. She was immediately shoved to the side.

The man snorted as he looked at the girl. "Since I gave birth to you, I can do whatever I want! You b*tch how dare you talk back!" With a crazed grin on his face, the man removed his shirt.

"Stay Still!" He exclaimed in anger as he grabbed both her hands. All while this was happening, the man didn't notice a shadow sneaking behind him.

BAM!

The sound of an alcohol bottle shattering echoed. The man screamed in pain as many shards and broken pieces of glass pierced his head. A few drops of alcohol also splattered

Bits of shards fell on the girls as well.

Luckily, both of them were quick to respond. The older girl got up and pushed her younger sister away from the glass.

One of the glass pieces seemed to cut the right side of her Cheek but she paid no attention to it as she inspected her sister to see whether she was hurt.

"Are you okay?", the older girl asked anxiously as she grabbed Tanya's shoulders.

Tanya nodded in a daze. Her eyes caught the sight of her older sister's face.

"Sister, your face…", the younger girl gasped in shock.

The older girl let go of her sister and touched her face. She winced in pain when her hand was in contact with the cut.

"It's okay, as long as you're alright."

While both girls were busy, Shiro was looking down on the man who was currently on his knees.

His eyes were as cold as ice, as deep as the shadows from the abyss as he glared at the man.

The man trembled in fear as he saw the look on Shiro's face. The boy in front of him was very intimidating, which reminded him of the looks of the loan sharks he encountered while gambling. No, even their gazes seemed to be dull when compared to that of Shiro's.

"Who do you think you are?"

"Do you know what will happen if I report you to the local officials?"

"Planning to sell your daughter, yet nor discrete?"

The girls were bewildered by the scene in front of them.

The man looked at Shiro in confusion.

"Weren't you asleep?"

"No…"

"It doesn't even make sense that you woke up!"

"I poured all the sleeping powder on you. Not just waking up, you should actually be dead!"

Shiro glared at him.

"Ha…"

The man gulped as he realized Shiro had listened to all of his conversations with his daughters.

However, at that second a smile appeared on his face, and the room was filled with insane laughter.

"Report me? To the officials? Hehe, once I offer my daughters to them, they will probably execute you instead of arresting me!"

Looking at the pitiful old man, Shiro sighed. "Has the alcohol messed up your brain?"

Without allowing the bastard to speak Shiro grabbed the old man's hair and pushed it down. Simultaneously he raised his knee, smashing it on the old man's face.

He repeated this 5 times, after his he mercifully gave a kick to the gut, as a result of which the old man was knocked unconscious.

All while long he couldn't even scream properly.

Blood was still fresh on the cloth around his knee area.

Sigh, I can't be doing this...

He thought he knew the ways of the street, he thought he knew the rules of the jungle.

Shiro imagined that he wouldn't even bat an eye when the poor girl would be r*ped, however in the end he still ended up helping them.

Just because of one simple reason. The sick mother and that little girl remind him of those two. The cry of that small little girl Tanya had forced him to wake up.

He had noticed this quite a long time ago. Any mother and daughter duo reminded him of them.

I should stop doing this, sigh. If this continues then at the end survival will no longer be an option.

Good people always meet with sad ends. This is after all a dog shit dog eat world.

As Shiro thought of this he slowly looked at the two siblings. They were trembling, horror laced to their face.

"Wh-what did you do?!", the older girl screamed as she rushed towards her father's side, ignoring all the piercing glass shards on her way.

"He's our father! How dare you lay your hands on him?!", The younger girl yelled as she also rushed towards her father's side.

Her body was trembling in fear as soon as she saw the blood that was flowing out from her father's head, but she still ran to her father's side.

Their sick mother opened her eyes as soon as she heard her daughters' cries.

She was indeed a mother – even cracking sounds didn't wake her up while just mere cries of her daughters' did.

"What happened?", she asked weakly as her eyes trailed to the body that was lying unconscious on the ground.

Her eyes widened in shock as she saw that the body was actually her husband.

She fell from the bed, hitting her face on the floor.

Her face was ghastly pale and her body was scrawny.

Looking at all of this... A smile appeared on his face.

I probably look like a monster to the... Sigh... It is what it is.

Without getting an actual answer, Shiro opened the inventory and withdrew 100 gold coins, half of what he had.

He turned to the older girl and placed the pouch filled with the gold coins he had just withdrawn on her palm.

"It will cost about 20 gold coins for your father's treatment… and maybe another 20 gold coins for your mother's treatment. As for the rest, I hope it'll help you live well for a few days, or you could start a business using the coins."

"Also, you can keep the previous 50 gold coins…"

As soon as Shiro said that, he stood up and left the house.

Before exiting the house he turned around and gave an apolitical expression. "Sorry for the inconvenience."
