chapter 47- are you marrying her?

The laughter at the table died down.

"That was what I did to the man. He thought that I had been fooled with his sweet talk." Alex said jokily.

"And when you discovered that he was the one who stole your sister's jewelry what did you do to the man?" William asked.

"I killed him, you had already given him a job in the palace , yet he had the audacity to steal from us; the man deserved nothing but death." Alex replied.

William chuckled. "That's good I hope you did it in front of the servants , so that it can set an example to them."

"Yes I did." Alex said.

"Good , but I think that killing him was too hard. You would have cut his hand off." William told him.

"I know father, but I did the man a big favour by killing him."

"How?"

"I ended his life therefore I ended his suffering. He won't suffer anymore since he's dead; and won't have to steal."

William smiled." Your are very wise. I'd wish Reina were here."

"Me too , but she's too tried to come here and she needs her rest ."Alex face turned cold.

William looked at him with a worried expression. "Are you planing to marry her?" His father asked.

"Yes , I am." He replied.

Relief washed over his fathers face. "That is good , she will make a good queen. But what about Eliza ?"

"What about her?" He said as he sipped his tea.

"She obviously what's to be the future Queen and I can see that she is ready to go to any lengths to fulfill her dream." His father replied.

"I am not blind father I can see the way Eliza is behaving. And for me she is just a barking dog who doesn't bit, and right now there's nothing she can do that I have nothing to worry about ." He said." Your loving sister will soon complain about me to the court."

"About what?" His father said with his mouth full of pastry.

"About the death of sir Nathan."

The king swallowed his food."She thinks that you have a hand in it?" William asked.

"No father, she believes that I have a hand in it." He corrected.

"I know what your saying , she have already complained to me about it and have requested for me to call a meeting at the court immediately." His father replied.

Alex lifted his tea cup to his lips before saying. "And what is she saying about the matter , does she have proof that I am the one who killed Nathan?" He asked before sipping his tea.

"She says that she has solid evidence against you." His father said.

"So when is the meeting going to be held?" Alex asked pouring some tea into his cup.

"Tomorrow by noon." His father replied.

Alex smiled. "Excellent, I'll be ready for her."

"I hope you are , Ruth is hell bent on making Adam the future king that she will stop at nothing to get rid of you." His father said.

Alex could help but chuckle. "She and Eliza are birds of the same feathers."

"And they flock together." William added.

"The celebration for you and mother's anniversary is coming soon." Alex said.

"Yes many people have been invited, including Reina's parents."

"It's good to hear. I can't wait to meet my future in-laws." Alex said happily.

"I hope that you will be attending the function." William added some sugar into his tea.

"Yes I will, but I won't be staying long." Alex replied dryly. " I was never keen of parties."

"Neither I am but as the crown Prince you have to stay , its your duty and obligation."

"Is Leonard coming?" He asked.

"Yes." His father replied.

Alex smiled peacefully. "I will attend the party and I will make sure that lady Reina is always at my side ; you wouldn't know who is who."

"That's the right thing to do since you are going to announce your wedding to the public."

"I think the announcement should wait father , I don't what her to be poisoned by jealous women at the party and I also want Reina to get use to the palace and us ; I want her to take us as her own family." Alex replied.

"That will not be a problem to Reina she and Leyla are already getting along quite nicely." His father said.

It then dawned on Alex of the missing person." Father where is Leyla? "He asked.

"She went to the town, she said she wanted to buy new shoes to match her outfit that she would be wearing to the ball." His father replied.

Alex frowned. "Leyla was never keen in fashion, what changed her mind?" He asked.

"I don't know." The king was deep in thought." She left as soon as she heard that Steven was in the town. "His father replied.

Alex turned to his father." And you let her leave!" He exclaimed.

The king was astonished by his son's behavior. "I had to she is no longer a little girl who I can order about." He replied.

"Don't you think she went there to do other things than buying shoes?" He asked.

"Don't worry about her I sent Daniel along with her to accompany her and watch her." The king said.

Alex shook his head slowly he wasn't reassured by this he knew Leyla well and also knew that she wasn't as stupid as she led everyone to believe. "OK father , she must be with Daniel and I am sure that he will take good care of her." He smiled but inside he was boiling with rage ,Leyla better not poke her sweet and innocent little nose into his business.
