Chapter 23 Father reunites

Making his way to the village. He was tagged along with the woman that Rex is helping. Even though Rex's father did not want to leave his son to defeat the group by himself. He knew that he would only become a burden.

"At least I have a cloak, the woman, and a decent explanation of what happened." Rex's father accidentally said out loud.

Hearing that, the woman did feel fear. That was mainly because she did not know where the two of them were going. Since Rex told her to leave with him. She hoped that Rex's father had more people to help meet up with.

Getting further along, Rex's father and the woman stopped. Rex's father saw the caravan with his wife and Rex's guardians. Glancing at the woman, Rex's father saw that she had nothing but fear.

Knowing that someone is stronger than him and his wife. Rex's father knew that he should give his wife at least a signal.

He remembered when they were first dating how he would chirp like birds and the love of his life would just sit there and enjoy the view and song. Rex's father also did songs that meant harm, happiness, and fear. Rex's father simply tried to chirp like he used to. He started it softly to remember the feeling. Once he did get the feeling back.

He began to chirp a song that meant harm and fear.

Rex's mother heard the chirping and knew that it was her husband's doing. She remembered all the times that they would go out somewhere and he would chirp for her.

Hearing that the song had a hint of harm and fear. Rex's mother did nothing but wait. She did not want the chance her husband gave her to be ruined. She waited until the evening to tell Rex's guardians.

Hearing the bird chirping, the caravan got scared. They did not know if a beast was close by or not. So they decided to hurry up to the village.

Rex's guardians saw that Rex's mother was scared. It was not from the beast that she seemed scared of.

They knew that something was off with this caravan. They could move but not knowing where Rex and his father were. They held back at least until one of them returned.

Rex's father and the woman slowly followed the caravan. Rex's father did not know if they would be able to catch up to them. He did not want anything to happen either way.

The woman began to think of a way to help Rex's father. She trusted Rex and seeing how he had communicated with the caravan. She knew he had friends on that caravan and she could get help.

"Listen, we have one chance to get this done." The woman explained.

Hearing that she was talking, Rex's father gave her 100% attention.

"If you hand me the cloak, we can meet up with the caravan. It will be during the night, but the chances of you surviving are better than now."

Rex's father did not understand what was being said. He knew that the two of them had already made great advances in protecting each other.

He decided to trust the plan that she had. He also knew that without Rex, his chances of surviving were already nonexistent.

"Here is the plan. I will send a message that someone was cultivating near the mountain. Once you had broken through, we had already surrounded you with more people than you could fight against. Surrendering freely, we decided to send you to the caravan leading to the village."

Rex's father began to understand the situation. Since he had just broken through he did not have the strength to fight against so many people that had already been in the Qi Gathering Core. By surrendering freely, he can meet up with the caravan. Hopefully, he will not get hurt or he can pass a message to the girls easier.

Knowing the plan now, Rex's father handed over the cloak and a rope. Since he had just broken through he could not use his full strength if he wanted to.

Since he was already exhausted from making the breakthrough. He did not want anything bad to happen to himself.

He handed the cloak to the girl and she immediately felt fear from the cloak. It was as if someone was tracking her.

"Drop it and run!"

Rex's father did so. They ran with all their might. She did not know if it was something that happened when the cloak mysteriously disappeared and reappeared. She knew something bad would happen afterwards.

"Sorry about the plan not being good now."

Rex's father did not know why she said to run. Knowing that she felt fear from what happened. He knew something bad was happening.

While they were running, they happened to stop at a creek. Getting a quick breather and trying to hop along. The caravan just happened to stop at the same creek.

"Husband!" Rex's mother waved.

Rex's father looked over and saw the joy his wife had. The girls all were looking towards him as well.

Seeing that this reunion was not going to be well. Rex's father just decided to play a game. He knew that Rex called this a game. He did not know why. He knew the headset made this into a game, but not understanding that Rex played this already.

He figured that playing along with Rex would be the best thing for now.

"Honey, come here." Rex's mother waved.

Rex's father shook his head no. The guardians did not like how he shook his head. They wanted nothing more than to go over and drag him over.

"Sarah Luo come catch me if you can." Rex's father yelled.

Running away from them, Rex's mother did not understand what her husband meant. She knew that she would knock him over the side of the head for trying to run away.

"We will be right back." The women said.

"Go on and catch your husband and father so that we can continue please."

The girls ran off.

In the caravan

A black cloak glowed red. The driver knew something bad had happened.

"Sir what's wrong?"

There is nothing but silence.

"I see thank you sir."

Throwing the cloak into a secret hole. The driver felt disguised.

"Why would someone betray us?" The thought ran through his head.

Not knowing who betrayed the group. The driver had no choice but to wait. He did not trust anyone but his boss.

Seeing how slow they returned, the caravan was forced to spend the night at the creek.

"Damnit"

The driver was more mad.

With the campsite made, the driver looked over and felt that Rex's father had made a breakthrough. Knowing that, he wanted to talk.

"Congratulations sir. I feel that you made a breakthrough. Can I ask where you broke through?"

Rex's father did not want to explain it but decided that maybe he could get away with it.

"Near the mountain range, once I had broken through. I left. There was a black cloak laying on the ground when I started to make my way here."

What Rex's father did not know was that. The information he had given him was enough to prove how troublesome the next few days would be for Rex.

"Well, I am going to protect the wagon. Make sure that you get plenty of rest."

Everyone went inside their tents.

The driver had no plans to make their night comfortable.
