Chapter Five

As I made my bed and tidied my room for the day I heard a familiar voice in the hallway. I walked to the door and peered out.

"Mom!?? I'm so happy you're here!!", I yelled while running down the hall to her embrace.

"Hi sweetheart, you look so good. I'm so proud of you," she choked through tear filled eyes, "I'll help you grab your things so we can go home." She smiled.

With a confused look I questioned her, "it's only Wednesday morning, I thought I wasn't leaving until Friday?"

"Your doctors and your wonderful nurse here feel that leaving early won't affect the progress you've made, if you feel like you're ready you can come home with me!" She said excitedly.

I gave my nurse a huge hug and ran to my room.

I've never packed anything so fast before, but before I knew it, there it was, Freedom.

Freedom at last.
