Chapter 26: Promises
Luci’s POV:
“Ready for tomorrow?” Carlos asked as I walked him to the door of my apartment.
His coming over and staying the night so we could talk everything out helped me get some things into perspective.
“Ready as I’ll ever be.”
We decided that I needed to go into the date and just be blunt about not being interested. Honesty was best at this point.
“You just got to be direct about not wanting this marriage and hold the boundary. I doubt he’d want to be with someone that didn’t care for him.”
I sighed as the hot air from outside warmed my skin.
“I know. I still feel pretty stupid about Gavin.”
Carlos nodded and gave me a side hug.
“If I were you, I’d feel the same. Are you going to see him on campus today?”
I shook my head.
“No. Friday is like a prep day for our classes, so it’s not mandatory. I’d rather just stay home and get my work done ASAP so I can mentally prepare for the sh*t show that is tomorrow.”
