Chapter 16: The Next Alpha
Luci’s POV:
Even after Gavin left me in the classroom, his scent still hung in the air. The vanilla and almond mixture was now more comforting than intrusive.
The longer he was gone, the more the sweet smell began to dissipate.
I knew I needed to get up and leave. Sitting here forever just wasn’t an option, at least, not a sustainable one.
I dreaded the fact that I had to call my father. Between him and Alex, my first day of class was an utter disaster. Well, almost a complete disaster.
My legs moved slowly as I pulled myself up and shoved my phone back into my bag.
As I walked the halls, I noticed just how quiet they had become now that it was getting later in the afternoon. I trudged down the stairs as each step echoed around the building.
When I opened the door, the warm air had finally started to cool down.
“Hey! There you are,” Carlos called from the edge of the walkway.
