Chapter 16: Making Progress and Moving On

“So, you’ll really do it?” AJ asked, again.

I sighed. “Little wolf. You said you wanted to show me. Yeah?”

“Yes.”

“And I said that I was okay with that, yes? I even said that I wanted to see it for myself?”

“… yeah.”

“So, how many times have you asked me if it’s okay?”

I looked him square in the eye. I had been gentle, I had tried patience and understanding, and I had tried breaking the tension with jokes. But now, my little white wolf, Goddess bless him, was driving me absolutely insane.

AJ toed at the ground bashfully. “I’m not sure.”

“Seven.”

He looked up at me with shock. As though he really hadn’t thought that I’d be counting. Part of his shock might also have been my deadpan delivery. Come on, AJ, you are so indecisive!. Give me something. Anything!

I sighed when he didn’t know how to respond.
