Chapter 32 Weren’t We Supposed to be Abusing the Guests?

Qin Nuan chuckled softly and found a reason to get Gu Zhengxi out of the way. "Little brother, please help me to ask Auntie Su if she could spare us two tomatoes. I want to add it to the egg soup. Also, call everyone together for a meal. I've cooked enough for all of us."

"Alright! I love tomato in egg soup the most!"

Gu Zhengxi's handsome features brightened up, and he walked out.

Shortly after he came back with the tomatoes, the three dishes and one soup course meal was ready.

Shen Chang'an and Gu Zhengxi helped Qin Nuan carry the dishes out to the courtyard's stone table. The extremely ravenous Hao Bai, Zhou Qingshu, and Su Wanyu immediately came over.

Even though the ingredients were cheap and simple, Qin Nuan still managed to stir-fried pork with potato strips. Leafy vegetables stir-fried with eggs, minced pork in thick egg broth, and tomato in egg soup.

Hao Bai looked at the sumptuous and appetizing food on the table and couldn't stop complimenting Qin Nuan. "Xiaonuan, with you around, no matter how difficult the director makes it for us, we'll never have to worry about food. It was definitely the right choice to get you on the show this season!"

The program staff was eating packed lunches, and their meals tasted as bad as eating candlewax. When they smelled the freshly cooked food, they couldn't stop themselves from gathering around the stone table as well.

"Miss Qin, did you really cook all this yourself?"

"It's real, guys! More real than real gold!" Gu Zhengxi used his chopsticks to pick up some potato strips and stuffed them into his mouth. "Oh…it's so tasty!"

Su Wanyu had always been very particular about her food, but after tasting the dishes, she couldn't help but compliment her too, "This egg broth's texture is adorable. It's so smooth and soft. It's even tastier than the ones I get at five-star hotels in Hong Kong."

Zhou Qingshu said, "Xiaonuan worked so hard to cook a whole table of dishes by herself, but she also cooked our share. What a sensible and obedient young lady!"

Shen Chang'an said, "Sister Nuan, your cooking skills are really superb. This is the best meal I've eaten of late."

Gu Zhengxi chimed in, "Me too."

A simple table of dishes ended up capturing the hearts of all the guests. Sometimes, good things happened even without planning for them too.

Qin Nuan sat by the stone table and smiled sweetly.

The program staff sat by the side with their slightly stale and cold lunchboxes as they watched the guests sit in the courtyard and eat their home-cooked lunch merrily. A cool breeze would blow through the bamboo forest from time to time, and the guests looked so relaxed and seemed to be enjoying themselves. The staff all turned to look at the director begrudgingly.

Weren't they supposed to be abusing the guests? Why did it seem more like they were abusing themselves now?

After lunch, Gu Zhengxi and Hao Bai volunteered to wash the dishes.

Qin Nuan, Shen Chang'an, and Su Wanyu didn't have anything to do, so they decided to go up the mountain to view the scenery.

Shen Chang'an often flew to various countries for modeling shows, while Su Wanyu lived in Hong Kong all these years. They rarely had the chance to walk around in the wild like this. As they walked through the forest, they found all the plants and small animals that they had never seen before very interesting and started asking Qin Nuan very exaggeratedly about what this one was and what that one was. Meanwhile, Qin Nuan answered all their questions very easily, as if she was an encyclopedia.

Even the cameraman who followed the three of them around was astonished by her knowledge.

Many species of wild fungi grew in the mountainous areas just outside Chuan City. Su Wanyu found some brown and white mushrooms near a tree root and picked it excitedly to show Qin Nuan.

"What mushroom is this? It's so pretty!"

Qin Nuan took the mushroom from Su Wanyu, looked it over very seriously for a while, then said, "This is a termite mushroom, and it's edible. We could pick some and have steamboat tonight."

"It's edible? Then I'll go pick more."

Su Wanyu immediately ran back to the tree root to look for more mushrooms while singing a song about a little girl who picks mushrooms. She saw a few beautiful ones and picked them as well.

When Qin Nuan saw what she was picking, she quickly ran over. "Auntie Su, these mushrooms are pretty, but they are poisonous. I heard that Chuan City suffers from annual cases of people dying from eating poisonous wild fungi. We shouldn't pick the wild fungi that we don't know."

Su Wanyu held up a brightly colored little mushroom with uniform spots and blew on it gently. "As expected, the prettiest roses always have thorns, the prettiest mushrooms are all poisonous, and the prettiest women are full of danger."

"Since that's the case, I'll bring it back to turn it into a specimen for me to admire. I won't eat it."
