False Impressions

The dragon landed nearly crashing to the ground with a hard thud nearly knocking Lance off his feet and almost causing him to lose grip on the sword he still had in hand. He was only barely able to keep himself from dropping it as he tried desperately not to drop from where he was sitting perched on top of the great beast's head.

He had been holding onto its horns for dear life this whole time. There were no other options to situate himself at least until his dragon could calm down enough so that he could jump back to the ground safely. And with the way the wind was swirling around them Lance was having an awful hard time getting any kind of grip on anything.

It wasn't even like they were flying anymore since they were now circling the sky like some kind of strange bird creature instead of being steadily rising up and up. But the cold air and the fear of falling to his death was making everything worse. It felt like it took forever before finally the dragon settled to a stop.
