"It's not enough…" He muttered, looking around. He'd thought they would be able to push further than this. Even throwing everything he had into the battle, and pulling out his warhammer to smash apart any enemies in their way, the sheer number was far too much.
The sea lapped tamely on the shore a short distance away, and the King's men stood waist deep within its water, looking a tempting target, far more so than the great waves of enemy that still stood in front of him. So too did the cliffs that rose up to their right look tempting to a degree as well.
But Vol knew that in looking towards them both, he was already admitting defeat. Strategically, he'd already decided before the battle began that neither were options that he could take. Forward was the only way that they had, but how far forward could they go against an army like this?
It was stubbornness pushing Vol now, as he felt everything begin to fall apart.
