He pointed to the cliffs, where two groups of Yarmdon men scaled the steep trails that wound its way around the rocky sides. The two had made sure to go in entirely opposite directions, making the job of pursuit all the harder.
"If we had horses, this would be a different ask…" Blackwood murmured. "But to have asked for horses would have been to give up in advance. Besides, we have nowhere to stable them out here. We're left with no choice, but to pursue them on foot. Are we in agreement on that, at least? Ratcatcher? Lady Penelope?"
"The sooner we move, the better," Ratcatcher agreed. "The closest village is little more than half an hour away. That group to the right will wander into them soon enough, and it'll be a massacre. We need swift feet after them. We need to be ready to fight at a sprint, despite the danger it'll put us in."
"I will ask the Sea Serpents…" Penelope said, unable to give a reply on her own.
