New Year's Day had just passed, and the sky was now draped with a blanket of white snow. Snowflakes danced and swirled like floating cotton, quickly covering the flowers and trees with a silver coat. The black sedan parked on the road looked like a small black beetle trapped in a pile of salt. Asher didn't have much to do, so after the snow stopped, he and Scarlett played downstairs, using a large shovel to build a tall snowman. Scarlett added a hat and scarf and asked Asher to take pictures of her, their laughter echoing through the quiet winter day. Some neighbors would comment to Scarlett's mother, "Is that your golden son-in-law? He plays like a child."
"When he was young, he focused on learning skills and didn't play much. Now he wants to make up for it," Scarlett's mother would laugh and reply.
